SM OU RMT: Mega Pinsir

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get into competitive Pokemon and figured I'd start building my own OU team after clicking around on Showdown for a bit. Most of the sets are stolen from Smogon resources.

Pinsir-Mega, Excadrill, Heatran, Magnezone, Landorus-T, Tapu Bulu

This is what I came up with:

Pinsir-Mega @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Close Combat
- Quick Attack

I wanted to build around Pinsir-Mega, since it seems like a potent Sweeper. Most decisions revolve around removing threats to Pinsir. Can double as Revenge-Killer with Quick Attack.

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

Spinner, since Pinsir-Mega hates rocks. It checks some Electric/Flying-types. Mold Breaker, since we have no sand and Rotom is a thing. I went with Leftovers over Scarf, since I'm uncomfortable with 3 Choice Items, especially on my spinner.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

Famously good, checks many fairy types. Taunt is really good against Toxapex. Not sure if I should have two Stealth Rockers, but since weakness to it is very prolific, I like it. (Charizard, Alolan Ninetales) I lead with this or with Lando-T.

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 128 HP / 252 SpA / 128 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Checks/Traps Ferrothorn, Celesteela and Skarmory. Not as good against Heatran, but aparently people will readily toss their Steel-Types my way at the low rungs of the ladder. Not sure about the choice item, but it works well so far.

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 24 SpD / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off

Defensive Lando-T checks more Electric types and provides slow U-Turns, which is very nice for both Tapu Bulu and Pinsir. I'm not sure about double Stealth Rock, but it can do a lot of work. I lead with this or with Heatran.

Tapu Bulu @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Horn Leech
- Megahorn
- Superpower

Tapu Bulu complements Heatran very nicely, and is my primary check to water-types, since Magnezone is primarily focused on Steel types. It is my Dragon immunity which allows me to double switch with Heatran vs Mega-Charizard-X to gain Toxic turns even on +2 DD.

Thank you all and Best Regards
