ORAS OU RMT Metal Gear Team

wampert (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Plácida Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Swamper plays as a Lead, Rocks + moves with coverage, choose Surf over protect and roar because of coverage and I never liked to do protect. If i can OHKO the enemy lead, then I proceed doing it, if not put rocks. Then seeing how the battle progresses can deal very much damage to certain enemies and can be a great savior for some teammates. I can use it for covering scizor's fire weakness.

Gengar (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modesta Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Bola Sombra
- Focus Blast
- Sludge Wave
- Magic Bright (Brillo Mágico for Spanish, Fairy, Special Attacking move)

Gengar is my Special Sweeper, his set explains itself, two STAB attacks and two coverage attacks, Focus blast gives me coverage for those Dark-Types slower than Gengar, the fairy attack type (sorry i have spanish version for pokemon online, I think i translated it wrong) its one of my only chances to OHKO dragon types. It has weaknesses to Psychic, Ghost and Dark, which are covered by changing to Scizor.

Scizor (F) @ Scizorite
Trait: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SDef
Agitada Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- U-Turn

This is my Physical Sweeper, I choose it because has been a great option since a time, it has only one great weakness, fire, but i can make switch-ins frequently thanks to his Steel-Type, last match an Espeon was going to do Psychic but when I switch-in with Scizor, only make me like 20% damage. Swords Dance is synonim of first move slot for Scizor and if I can do 2 of these, then i can sweep entire teams, Roost gives me a break if i can't OHKO everything that i have in my way, U-turn because I can deal some damage if i can predict my enemy's change to bring in a check.

Rotom-W @ Chesto Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spd
Osada Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hydro Pump
This rotom plays as a Pivot or Wall, can help me to resist great Physical Attackers, and by burning them, he lowers the threat. Just when it's about to die, it uses pain split on your full HP pokemon what is very annoying for rivals. Volt switch for the same reason as U-Turn for Scizor. Hydro Pump can kill non-bulky pokemon.

Crawdaunt (M) @ Vidasfera
Trait: Adaptability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Sword Dance
- Aqua Jet
- Crabhammer
- Knock Off
Ok, so this guy is very fragile physical attacker, i can't switch-in with him but i can clean-up with Aqua jet, Crabhammer and Knock Off are very powerful STAB moves, Knock Off principal function is to make things go my way, most of Pokemon can't survive without their item. If i can charge 1 or 2 Swords Dance,it is fatal (I have never do it :( ).

Talonflame (M) @ (Sharp Beak)
Trait: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 HP / 248 SDef / 8 Spd
Cauta Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Taunt
- Bulk Up

Specially Defensive wall, can resist, can kill, it can make a switch-in for example if my rival wants to kill my Swampert with a Plant STAB Special move (Serperior for example) then it can switch-in and deal good damage, Taunt for Stall teams and DD (Dragon Dance) SD (Swords Dance), bulk up, if i have the chance to charge 3 I can sweep all the team. Weaknesses electric and rock, both covered by Swampert.

So, I'm new in this forum, you can see by my username that i'm mexican and yes I love tacos but don't wear a hat. I want to know your opinion about this team, my thoughts are that Crawdaunt is too weak defensively and enemy leads with a plant type attack give me headaches :(. Also, if Swampert can't OHKO enemy lead, most of the time they set stealth rock, making it harder to switch-in for Talonflame.

Have a good day mates.

Hey MexicanWey, welcome to Smogon. I really like your use of Crawdaunt, a very underrated and dangerous wallbreaker for most teams to deal with. I have a few suggestions for your team at large however:

1. For Stallbreaker Talonflame to be effective, it is absolutely crucial that it is paired with either a defog or rapid spin user to remove the omnipresent Stealth Rocks that plague ORAS OU. Your Talonflame will otherwise lose a critical 1/2 its HP by simply upon switching into play if your opponent sets up stealth rock. I suggest removing Gengar for Defog Latios to fix your entry hazard control issue with your team. Defog Latios can wallbreak similar to Gengar with the added benefit of being able to defog stealth rocks away for Talonflame.

2. Talonflame should run 248 HP EVS as oppose to 252 HP EVS. 248 HP evs gives Talonflame an odd number that minimizes the damage Talonflame will take when switching into play if Stealth Rock is up. Instead of losing exactly 1/2 HP, Talonflame will lose slightly less. Also, instead of Sharp Beak, I recommend using leftovers as it suits Stallbreaker Talonflame better due to its more stallish playstyle.

3. Leftovers > Chesto Berry on Rotom-W. Chesto Berry is inferior to leftovers on defensive rotom-W unless used in conjunction with Rest in order to immediately wake up but even then, leftovers + pain split is generally the better option.

4. Lastly, my third recommendation is to remove Swampert for Landorus-Therian. There are much better alternatives for a bulky ground type than Swampert in the current metagame and Landorus-T is arguably the best at the job. Lando-T's intimidate ability along with its massive base 145 atk allow it to serve as a reliable answer to OU's most common physical threats. Its access to slow U-turn gives you many opportunities to swing the momentum in your favor at pivotal points of the battle.

Hey Dark G thank you for rating my team!
Well there is something i didn't explained in first place, I was building this team for playing in XY (Having some problems with Swampert but that's other story), doing the changes you recommend would make a fantastic team, but, for example i think you can't repeat iteams in wi-fi battle (If I'm wrong please correct me, my sister bought me Pokémon Y last week and haven't played a lot online). Another thing, I don't usually use legendaries. But I could take the changes you recommend for playing online and another team for wifi battles, applying the change to Talonflame's EVs.

I have problems obtaining hidden abilities for Crawdaunt and Talonflam, but that is flour from another bag (Mexican phrase btw).

Yeah sorry MexicanWey, I was under the impression that your team was for Pokemon Showdown use...not cartridge in Pokemon Y. Items are only restricted in Battle Spot on Pokemon Y but not when you're playing against friends or other people you schedule battles with.

As for Legendaries, I know you may think they are overpowered as almost all new players think the same way...including myself. However, there are certain legendaries that are not as strong as others and are deemed suitable for OU. Take a look at the following link for all legendaries that are too good for standard play, anything not on that list is completely acceptable to use in OU:
