So this is a team i'm working with right now. I have no large knowledge of competitive battling but i have some.
This team is purposely not entirely OU, i don't like to use legendaries either (Latias is the only Legendary i use and that's in a non competitive environment).
Now you can suggest things, alternatives to Pokemon i have, different moves and items etc. However, these Pokemon are not likely to change, i just know i want Swampert, Exploud, Manectric and not so much Aerodactyl.
Anyways, you can't rate a team you haven't seen, obviously, so here you go:
-LEAD-
Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Pressure
252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
Standard leading Aerodactyl. Team probably doesn't need it but i have a thing for Aerodactyl's right now.
Rock Slide for a chance at flinching and also higher accuracy, STAB too. Earthquake deals with loads of Pokemon, nice attack to have. Stealth Rock there for what Stealth Rock is usually around for. Never ran into a SR user (That used it anyway) on PBR Wi-Fi matches but i figured it'd be pretty handy. Taunt is there to halt other Leads for a bit and hopefully gives Aerodactyl a switch to set-up SR or just to give 'em a beating.
-TANK-
Swampert @ Shell Bell
Torrent
252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SDef
Careful
- Curse
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Avalanche
CursePert for the win! Another one i just felt like i really wanted on the team... It, however, has more of a place.
Curse provides an Attack and Defense boost, at the loss of some Speed though. With that Speed drop, Swampert is even more likely to take a hit first then dish out a powerful Avalanche attack (Which is why its there and not Ice Beam). Waterfall and Earthquake are the two STABs and give a nice coverage, allowing Pert to switch in and hit many different types.
-Special Sweeper-
Exploud @ Choice Specs
Soundproof
252 SAtk / 104 HP / 152 Spd
Modest
- Hyper Voice
- Shadow Ball
- Surf
- Overheat
Yet another i longed to use. While his speed may not be up to scratch, nor are his offensive stats, Exploud is another that can switch into a few weak attacks and then dish out some damage.
Hyper Voice is for STAB, and also because its this fella's signature move... How could i resist? Shadow Ball hits ghosts and Surf hits everything else. Counter is useful with his large Health stat however Flamethrower could add more coverage. In the end, he's just here as a novelty...
-Special Sweeper-
Manectric @ Life Orb
Static
252 SAtk / 228 Spd / 28 HP
Timid
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Thunder Wave
My final Pokemon who i was always going to use. Obvious, simple and slightly overused Sweeper set up, with extra HP EV's to go with the defensive style of my team.
Thunderbolt provides STAB, Flamethrower hits grass types while Hidden Power hits Ground and Rock types. Thunder Wave cripples Special Sweepers and provides the slow team members with some support. As i said, simple.
-Physical Sweeper-
Scizor @ Choice Band
Technician
252 Atk / 200 Spd / 56 HP
Admant
- Bullet Punch
- Quick Attack
- Brick Break
- X-Scissor
I'm a little iffy about this one. I keep feeling i'll end up screwing it up with Choice Band.
Another simple set. Bullet Punch and Quick Attack benefit from Choice Band, Technician and the huge Attack stat, as well as Bullet Punch's STAB. X-Scissor provides more STAB and Brick Break gives a little more coverage.
Originally i had him as an Agility Baton Passer but i don't think i should bother with it. He is what i'd use to come into anything Aerodactyl fears, apart from Water types i suppose.
-Special Wall-
Hypno @ Leftovers
Insomnia
252 HP / 200 SDef / 56 Def
Calm
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Hypnosis
- Nasty Plot
This is one i'm incredibly unsure of. All i know is it needed to have a Psychic or Flying move and be able to Wall special orientated Pokemon.
I'd use Wish, however this is only if i manage to find a Wish user in my lifetime. Rest is an alternative with Chesto Berry and Forewarn but i'm really iffy about it. Perhaps Dream Eater? Anyway, Hypnosis scores hypno a turn or 5 of setting up. If it has Calm Mind, this gives it a rather decent Special Attack and Defense and allows Hypno himself to get in some rather huge hits. Reflect and Light Screen help the entire team instead of just Hypno... I really need help with this one. Grumpig is an alternative but i kinda don't want 4 Hoenn Pokemon >.< I'm so picky!!
No, i have not used this team online yet. I do not have Shoddy to try it either. I don't see the point in raising a team that may be doomed to fail, that's why i have posted this. I have used a team with Swampert, Exploud and Manectric before but that was when i was not nearly as experienced as i am now. This may go against some rules but i feel that raising Pokemon and then finding out they just don't work isn't worth my time as i don't have much to start with.
However, i spent weeks working on this team, seeing how well it resists types and counters others (Now that i have actually found a threat list i can do this more thoroughly with pokemon instead of types). So please don't just lock this because i brainstormed this team. Its come a long way from when i was sitting in Geography with the plan of Swampert+Hammer Arm, Exploud+HP Ice, Manectric, Sceptile, Honchkrow and Houndoom at least 3 weeks ago. Well i feel that way anyway.
I have gone over some of the threats in the making of this team, however since i have only just began to understand what a counter is, what a threat is and how to use my Pokemon more effectively (I've been playing in the kiddies pool of Competitive battling for a year or two now), i am almost certain my team has a seriously large number of flaws.
Thanks for reading, hope its decent. (Also note, i don't really want anymore OU Pokemon, unless its not incredibly OU... Unlike Blissey who you hear of everywhere.)
