Should Heatran have Rock Slide to counter Charizard Y??

This is my second RMT post. And this time I am going to show you my 2015 VGC team. Lets head onto the team building process….

When I was thinking of a team that would suit my playstyle , the First pokemon that I thought of was…..

Garchomp- Since gen 4 Garchomp is my favorite pseudo legendary. Its base 102 speed lets it outspeed all non-scarfed pseudo legendary. 130 base attack hits really hard . And its unusually high 108 base Hp lets is survive lots of attacks(not super effective attacks).Since most of the new Megas are Physical attackers, it gets rough skin to punish those megas…

Then I needed something to help him on the field in case any fairy/ice type shows up.So….

Clefable- Cute, bulky and fairy. Average offenses and Average defenses. The only reason to choose Clefairy is to redirect attacks that would KO my Garchomp. It is the best support pokemon for my team. It is way better than Pachirisu . It has got better Hp, better Def and better suppport moves (Helping Hand).
Hmm...now my team was 33% complete.I also needed a Pokemon that could change the weather (to counter those Chlorophyll, Swift Swim and even Flower gift users).

Tyranitar- Theres nothing much to say about this guy...its just naturally bulky and powerful....

Now I have got weather , redirection and garchomp....what is left???Yes! Mega Pokemon.

Kangaskhan-I knew there wont be any Lopunny or Blaziken to counter this guy. And Mawile and Lucario would be handled easily by Garchomp. So I chose Kangaskhan!

What if my Tyranitar faints and it is still Sunny and they have got a Sun Sweeper out?? There comes my Heatran..

Heatran-Well...My Heatran is a bit different..it has Rock slide and its Quiet natured. Its because the standard Heatran WALLS sun teams not COUNTERS them.Every Sun team would have a Charizard for sure and a unexpected Rock Slide from a Heatran will be enough to make me win...

Wait! I dont have Intimidate Support??? What am I gonna do without it??....

Arcanine-Defensive Arcanine.For Intimidate and suport.Also walls Sun!

Details-

Garchomp (M) @ Choice Band
Level: 50
Trait: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd 124 HP / 44 Atk / 84 Def / 4 Sdef / 252 Spe
IVs: 4 SAtk
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

Ready to sweep the floor.Choice band garchomp is really threatening.Sylveon's maximum Sp.atk Hyper voice Has only 50% of KO. And HH Iron head can easily KO it.Choice band can neutralize the effects of Intimidate and makes my Garchomp sweep at any time.

Clefable (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Level: 50
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature(+Def,-Atk)
- Dazzling Gleam
- Helping Hand
- Protect
- Follow Me

Rediecting all those will-o-wisps and taking no damage from Sand.Helping hand boosts the Rock slides and Earthquakes. Dazzling gleam for a really dazzlingly gleamish attack that hits both opponents.Protect for Protecting against those Flash Cannons and Iron Heads.

Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Level: 50
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 36 Atk / 220 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Rock Slide
- Snarl / Dark pulse
- Ice Beam
- Fire Blast

Ice beam for Dragons and Sceptile. Rock slide is because it has chance of flinching and now that this thing is scarfed , very few pokemon can out speed it. Snarl or Dark pulse??? Which one Should I choose and Why?? Fire blast for Mawile and Aeigislashs ( although I may Ko them , I will be able to weaken them so that Garchomp KOs them). It is mixed so that those Salamences cant Intimidate me.

Heatran (F) @ Air Balloon
Level: 50
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 212 HP / 108 Def / 108 SDef / 80 Atk SAtk
IVs: 0 Spd
Quiet Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Protect
- Heat Wave
- Flash Cannon
- Rock Slide Earth Power

Ev spread is bad. I know it. I am hoping that someone may be able to suggest a spread for mix heatran. Moveset is pretty standard (except for that rock slide, of course). Its Slow because my rest of the team is really fast and trick room can destroy my team.

Kangaskhan (F) @ Kangaskhanite
Level: 50
Trait: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- Sucker Punch
- Double-Edge
- Hammer Arm Low kick

Standard Kangaskhan. Adamant natured as it cant outspeed alot of new mega pokes.Confused between Hammer Arm or Power Up Punch... U say.

Arcanine (M) @ Sitrus Berry
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: Not decided . Maybe u can help.....252 HP / 144 Def / 36 SpA / 16 SpD / 62 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Snarl
- Protect
- Leer Will-o-Wisps
- Overheat Flamethrower

Yes! I am actually using Leer on Arcanine.Surprised?? W-O-W because its better than Snarl. Snarl for lowering Sp.atk of both the opponents..Leer to do the same with Def....Overheat for those Mawiles that my Garchomp can't OHKO....Nothing much to say..

I would personally use togekiss over clefable. Togekiss fills the same role as Clefable as a fairy type with follow me but it's also immune to EQ and gives you another pokemon Garchomp can EQ beside, which I think is important considering you're banded. The only mon you have that chomp can EQ beside is air balloon tran and with a Quiet nature that balloon definitely isn't going to last forever.

Also since you have a scarf tyranitar, I don't think you need rock slide on tran. Sun boosted heat waves with heatran's typing and ability is enough to deal with sun. Use dark pulse on ttar too since you already have snarl on arcanine.

And low kick seems like a better idea over Hammer Arm on Kan. Low kick hits everything hammer arm does for good damage and it doesn't lower your speed.

Btw, you mentioned garchomp had a 50% of living hyper voice. That's not exactly true, it has a 50% chance of living if sylveon isn't holding an item. Most sylveons have a pixie plate at the very least, which is a guranteed ohko you should keep in mind.

Hey dude, your team looks cool. I'm gonna go through each pokemon individually and give you my opinions on it :)
Garchomp: While Choice Band Garchomp is cool, if you're going to use CB as the item, you're better off using the 199 Garchomp set. The EV spread is 124 HP / 44 Atk / 84 Def / 4 Sdef / 252 Spe with a Jolly Nature. This is an antimeta Garchomp set that allows you to beat opposing Garchomps 100% of the time (although less popular now) and it was pretty popular during last years worlds. If you're gonna go standard 252, you're better off going with Life Orb/Lum Berry as the item tbh. Moveset wise it looks fine
Clefable: Pretty much what NOVED said above, Togekiss synergizes better with Garchomp cause immune to EQ but the Ice Weakness is a problem but i would stil recommend toge over clef
Tyranitar: Scarf t tar is p cool, everything looks fine tbh. Go with Dark Pulse over Snarl since Scarf TTar is meant to be an attacker and snarl is just WAYYY too weak. Plus rk9 already has it so no need to run it lol
Heatran: There isn't a need to run rock slide on heatran considering that standard Char Y can't touch heatran at all (standard char y is overheat, solar beam, heat wave, protect). It'll be more beneficial to just heat wave the charizard to death lol. You're better off with Earth Power, Flash Cannon, Heat Wave, Protect for the moveset as for the spread, i don't really have a good one for VGC handy so i'm gonna recommend you use the doubles spread with 56 HP / 252 SpA / 200 Spe with a modest nature.
Kangaskhan: If you're going to run max speed just use Jolly Kanga lol. Jolly Kanga allows you to at least speed tie with base 100s like opposing Jolly Kanga, max speed Char y, Jolly Life Orb/CB Landorus, etc. Also what NOVED said, imo low kick is better for this meta but if i had to choose between those two, i would go with power up punch.
Arcanine: I love defensive rk9 so much and that was probably what you were going for lol. For the moveset i suggest using Snarl, Flamethrower, Will-o-Wisp, Protect/Morning Sun. As for the spread, i've got a modified version from lucariojr's spread that's been working out for me which is 252 HP / 144 Def / 36 SpA / 16 SpD / 62 Spe with a bold nature. This spread lets you outrun adamant max speed Bisharp by one point and KO with flamethrower 100% of the time. Flamethrower over Overheat because it is chip damage that won't lower your damage output and it'll still hit mawile for a ton anyways considering mawiles usually can't hit you for too much damage. Will-o-Wisp lets you support by crippling pokemon like Kangaskhan/Lando T and its great chip damage in general. I like morning sun cause it allows me to heal up 50% and rk9 has p nice bulk so it can usually take a hit or two.

Other than that, your team looks great bro :]

Not going to give a full rate but you don't need rockslide on Heatran with Garchomp and Tyranitar, use Earth Power instead for other Heatran, then you don't need to worry about being mixed. Slow Heatran also doesn't help you vs Trick Room because you're still slower than a lot of Trick Room Pokemon that hammer it like Conkeldurr, Slowking/bro, and Amoonguss puts it to sleep. Instead make your Heatran faster and give it Taunt to stop Trick Room from ever going up.

Just use Will-O-Wisp over Leer on Arcanine, Leer will just make them switch while WoW punishes permanently. Snarl on Tyranitar is silly, you want Dark Pulse for KOes on things like Offensive Gengar and Reuniclus that can otherwise give you trouble. Hope this helps.

Thanks Guys For The Advice !! But can anyone provide a Suitable Set For Togekiss ! I havent used it for competetive purposes since DPPt....So I cant think of Anything Suitable. And thanks a lot for the Arcanine Set . It really needed improvement.

Togekiss usually runs Tailwind/Thunder Wave, Protect/Roost, Air Slash, Follow Me. Dazzling Gleam is also an option too but i prefer Air Slash cause of the flinch chances lol
