RMT New Direction

So I've been playing this competitively for a little under a week, and have been trying to learn what does and doesn't work. After fiddling around with a team for a while, (you may have even seen the RMT), I decided to scrap it entirely and go a new direction. This is what I've come up with. Thanks in advance for any help, and I hope yall dont think it sucks too much.

In Depth

Aerodactyl@Focus Sash
Jolly
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP

Stone Edge
Earthquake
Taunt
Stealth Rock

I chose Aerodactyl for its speed, and because I needed a lead with SR. This thing can catch nearly anything lead-wise with a taunt, and then throw out a SR of its own. Its SE can 2HKO a Gyrados, and it outspeeds it even with one DD on it.

Tentacruel@Leftovers
Calm
252 Spd, 252 SpDef, 4 HP

Mirror Coat
Confuse Ray
Surf
Toxic Spikes

Tentacruel is by far my favorite poke. With these EV's he can confuse a LOT of things before they have a chance to attack him, and 90% of the time that gives him enough time to lay out level 2 Toxic Spikes. On top of this Mirror Coat lets him take a Tbolt from Zapdos/Jolteon/Electivire and 1HKO them for their trouble. Surf is for a STAB'd water attack, which can do some good damage.

212.png

Scizor@Choice Band
Technician
Adamant
248 HP, 252 Atk, 8 Spd

Bullet Punch
U-Turn
Superpower
Pursuit

I needed someone to take care of business for me, so I decided on Scizor. His moveset gives him nice type coverage, and his EV's give him enough bulk to take some hits, while putting out some nasty damage. U-Turn over X-Scissor for scouting ability.

471.png

Electivire@Expert Belt
Adamant
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 SpAtk

Thunderbolt
Ice Punch
Cross Chop
Earth Quake

While looking through my team, I noticed I have 3 pokes with a weakness to electricity, so I decided to use that to my advantage. Baiting a Tbolt or Thunderpunch into this guy usually guarantees something is going to die on my opponents team, if not multiple somethings. This moveset gives it a 2x attack on about 15 types, and Expert Belt just gives that the extra boost. Chose it over LO because he just seemed too frail when he was using it, on top of Sandstorm/SR damage.

94.png

Gengar@Life Orb
Timid
252 Spd, 252 SpAtk, 4 Def

Shadow Ball
Thunderbolt
HP (Fire)
Focus Blast

I decided that I needed a special sweeper thrown into the mix, and Gengar fit the bill nicely. With his respectable speed and more than respectable SpAtk, he can be trouble for anything the rest of my team can't. HP fire is for those pesky Scizors and Forretresses, and the rest is for coverage. LO for extra oomph.

227.png

Skarmory@Leftovers
252 HP, 64 Atk, 176 Def, 16 Spd

Brave Bird
Whirlwind
Spikes
Roost

I needed a physical wall to my set, and I wanted something that could phaze, so Skarmory was perfect. On top of the phazing effect, he can actually pull off some nasty damage with whirlwind spam when I have all my entrance hazards in effect. Between spikes, toxic spikes, and SR, its funny watching my opponent cry.

So yeah, anything I could improve? Any help yall could give, any glaringly noobish mistakes I made. I know I'm currently bad because I'm new, but I accept that and I'm trying to get better ASAP. Thanks in advance for anything yall have.

How much have you tested this team?
Not really a rate, but I had to ask.

Also, SD Lucario really dents this team. Swampert with Hidden Power fire as a lead could solve that, and you should probably switch out Electivire for a stronger wall breaker. Mixape/Mixmence would fill that spot better. Electivire is pretty much killed by anything that it can't kill first.

I know you have Gengar, but it's good to have a Plan B.

Whoops, I meant SD.

I'm not the best at this team rating thing though, so this rate itself probably has holes in it.

Uh, Gengar with HP fire? Already on my team.

And I've tested it for a little while, seems to be working well. Better than my old team.

Hi,

this team is really weak to Gyarados, especially taunt variants which can easily deal with Skarmory. I'd suggest to drop Tentacruel for Vaporeon:

Vaporeon@leftovers
nature: bold
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 SpA
-surf
-hidden power [electric]
-wish
-protect

you don't really need toxic spikes on this team, considering that it's quite offensive oriented. Vaporeon will still counter Infernape - and will counter a lot better Heatran - while also covering every version of Gyarados. Like Tentacruel, it also lures electric attacks which may give your Electivire a chance to sweep. Wish support will help some of your pokemons to last a little longer.

I'm not a fan of Electivire, but I'd suggest to run the special based mix set with hidden power [grass], thunderbolt, flamethrower and cross chop, with an EV spread of: 36 Atk / 252 SpA / 220 Spe. With this set you'll be a lot less predictable and may score some unexpected kills on things like Swampert and Hippowdon, which usually completely stop Electivire.

Good luck with your team!

Thanks. I've been thinking about running Magnet Rise on electivire? Any merit to that or no?
