RMT: Offensive Team Revamped

dpmfa145.png

Zapdos @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 74 HP/4 Atk/180 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- U-turn
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Extrasensory

My fucking awesome lead Zapdos that goes hand in hand with my next Pokémon. Blissey comes in, I predict it, U-turn to Tyranitar, and I instantly set up. Considering Drill Peck > Extrasensory.

dpmfa248.png

Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/70 Atk/28 Spd/160 SAtk
Brave nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Crunch
- Focus Punch
- Ice Beam
- Substitute

Tyraniboah with a twist. I'm running Crunch > Dark Pulse because... it's a lot better. This guy just tears down the walls on my opponents teams, and is quite simply a beast.

dpmfa445.png

Garchomp (M) @ Yache Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
- Swords Dance

Late game sweeper and most broken Pokémon in OU. So good, so dangerous, don't you love it?

dpmfa130.png

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 176 HP/144 Atk/188 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Taunt
- Waterfall

This thing can threaten to sweep at any time and I love it. I'm considering going to a more defensive EV spread because I don't like the way this thing is taking hits.

dpmfa121.png

Starmie (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 172 HP/120 SAtk/216 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Surf
- Thunderbolt

Rapid Spinner and Infernape/Gyarados counter. Not much else to say here except it fucking rocks.

dpmfa385.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 240 HP/76 Def/120 SDef/72 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Wish
- Stealth Rock
- Zen Headbutt
- Thunder / Skill Swap

This is something I've been playing around with after the recommendation from IggyBot. It gives my team some much appreciated Wish support along with a Dragon resist. The EVs are more defensively focused so I can better handle the threat of SpecsMence, but they also let me Outrun Heatran. One thing I've been toying around with is Skill Swap, an awesome move that can let me escape Wobbuffet without U-turn, grab a Flash Fire boost from a SpecsHeatran, throw Intimidates back at Gyarados and Salamence, completely wall Vaporeon... the possibilities are endless.

Sorry about the short descriptions, I'm in a hurry. Focus more on the Pokémon themselves rather than what I said.

I like the team. Really sorry I can't be you're tutor, I'm taking a pretty big break from pokemon. That doesn't mean I won't rate you're team.

Zapdos- This looks quite good, but Scarf Zapdos should only really be used on a heavily Gyrados weak team. I want to suggest Calm Zapdos- 252 hp/222 sdef/36 spe with Thunderbolt/ Hidden Power Ice/ U-Turn/ Roost. But here's the thing- You are quite Gengar weak. What you should do if you want to be 100 percent safe is use Sleep Talk over U-Turn so it can absorb Sleep from Gengar and beat it down with Thunderbolt. Discharge is a decent option if you want to substitute 80 base power for 95 base power with the higher paralysis chance.

Tyranitar- Very good set, I have used a similar set to it. I honestly think it needs no changes as of now. You are somewhat Garchomp weak....so Ice Beam would work but you can opt Fire Blast for a surprise on Metagross, Forretress, and Skarmory.

....the last pokemon that needs to be fixed.

Jirachi- In case you haven't noticed, Celebi is a massive threat to you're team. Run this- Timid- 252 Hp/140 speed/ 118 special attack- Psychic- Substitute- Thunderbolt- Calm Mind. Although Celebi resists all of its attacks, Celebi can't touch it for its life. You can set up for a massive sweep. On this note, you would need to move Stealth Rock to something...but unfortunately you're team members cannot make do with this. Since Gyrados doesn't seem to have as much synergy on this team as other members, replace it with something like Gliscor that can take Fighting/Ground hits for Tyranitar and lay rocks. Run something like Stealth Rock/Taunt/Earthquake/Roost with standard evs.

I used to use a CM Jirachi and can say that Grass Knot is way better than Thunderbolt. As soon as Jirachi started setting up, the opponent always sent out their Swampert or Tyrannitar if they had one. Grass Knot deals serious damage to both of these threats.

As slice mentioned, I think that CM Jirachi would be a great addition to this team. And as long as you're using a U-Turn Zapdos, why not throw in a Dugtrio as well! Dugtrio takes out Heatran and TTar, both common Zapdos switch-ins and two of CM Jira's biggest counters, and also deals with infernape and Electivire (who could actually cause this team some problems with a speed boost). Celebi becomes set-up fodder if you avoid leech seed. Swampert could cause problems, but switching your TTar to a Choice Band version would allow you to weaken it enough with crunch that CM Jira could sweep.

Starmie could be easily replaced. An offensive team such as this does not need spin support, and you already have a Gyara counter in Zapdos. Dropping Starmie will reduce your ability to beat Gyara, but the offensive power gained by a switch to dugtrio more than makes up for it.

Slice, I kind of want to know where you got that EV spread, since, at 298 speed, it loses to neutral-natured Salamence (and Shaman, I guess) by exactly one point. A saboteur, perhaps? 176 Speed EV's seems more useful, as it will outrun +nature base 90's such as roserade, Pory-Z, the odd +nature Lucario, and, of course, neutral natured base 100's such as Salamence.

Be sure you remember that Dugtrio is OHKO'd by Extremespeed if Luke has a life orb, so do not try to revenge kill Lucario without knowledge of its moveset.

Good Luck; Hope this Helps! --TAY

Thanks for the comments! About Zapdos, it really isn't only for purely Gyara weak teams. Not sure where you got that idea... The main purpose for it on this team hasn't even been for Gyara; it's to draw out Blissey, U-turn on the predicted switch, and set up Tyraniboah. I've been considering replacing Gyarados for a bit since I jumbled the team around, but I'm not so sure with who.. I can test Gliscor out and see how it does. I'll also give CMJirachi a try. I actually haven't had an enourmous amount of trouble with Celebi, considering Tyranitar can 2HKO it while taking less than 45% from Grass Knot, and I can almost always get back health thanks to Wish support from Jirachi. But I have had quite a desire to try a CMJirachi out, so maybe now is a good time to do that! Tay, you are very mistaken in saying that offensive teams do not need spin support, especially this one. Tyranitar and Garchomp are completely ruined by Toxic Spikes and Spikes, so the necessity of a Rapid spinner is huge on this team. Swampert cannot touch Starmie while I can slowly whittle his HP down with Surf and Recover back what I take for hits, so I don't see a problem there. That is why I don't think I can use Dugtrio; Starmie's importance is huge.

wishing mence might work over gyara if you ever decide to use cmjirachi

also, swampert beats starmie one on one

No it doesn't. The best it can do is Roar me out. I can take EQs and Recover them off while I Surf it and it can't recover. But I'll consider the WishMence if I do run CMJirachi.

OMG its Pulse =O

Anyways dude, on to your offensive team.

I like your Zapdos, it definetly leads to quick Blissey switch-ins, nice strategy there.

I always did prefer Crunch on boah over Dark Pulse for some reason xD.

I find Gyara would go better with the standard spread tbh. Gyara makes an excellent Bulky sweper and I believe its your best SD Cario counter. Just a mere suggestion there.

Hmmm, Jirachi looks nice, and Skill Swap looks like a pain for your opponet lol. Honestly, I don't think CM Jirachi will be doing well for you since Wish support is pretty nice in addition to setting up Rocks.

Noticed a Big Gengar weakness, but Jirachi should somewhat handle it. Oh and the ever so common but no even cares Mamoswine weak comments lol. Though Gyara should handle it as long as opponnet doesn't overpredict much with Stone Edge. Nice team man.

Rest/Sleep Talk Gyarados would help being more defensive and since this is an offensive team you would have problems if Heracross came in on Boah with no sub up or something. Helps abit with the Dragon weak if you happen to not run Dragon Dance. That should help enough against Mamoswine.

Jirachi looks like the most disposeable... thing on this team right now. You might not need Wish support that much. You could try Shuckle to help against Gengar and more as a general wall. If you really want wish then maybe Togekiss over Zapdos.

1 last thing. Use 252 HP/16 Atk/212 SpAtk/28 Spe on Tyranitar instead. OHKOs Scarfchomp IIRC.

I don't think I'll be adding Shuckle for the sole reason that whatever pace I have the game set at will be lost after sending it in. But I after reaffirming my past thoughts, I think I'll give ReSTalk Gyara a try.

The "standard" bulky Gyarados really isn't that great anymore, especially with Celebi and Zapdos usage at an all time high. You need at the very least, 2 Dragon Dances to really pose a threat, becauase of the lack of attack. To be honast, 24 HP / 252 Atk / 232 Spe is one of the most effective spreads right now, because it's so offensive. Outspeeding Weavile, and having over 500 Atk after just 1 Dragon Dance is much more welcome in the current metagame compared to a bulky Gyarados.

Zapdos outspeeds Gengar, as does Starmie. Jirachi takes almost nothing from its attacks. Gengar can't OHKO Zapdos, Jirachi or Garchomp. Other than Hypnosis, I really don't see any problems with Gengar.

Mamoswine is taken of for the most part by Gyarados and Starmie in conjunction.

Calm Mind Jirachi could work for this team, but still, losing Stealth Rock and Wish could hurt quite a bit. Still, give it a try and see what happens.

Umm pretty solid team, I love what you've done with Jirachi in ordinance to skill swap.

Umm only thing would be extrasensory over drill peck since your packing all those sp att ev's and your mainly covering the same pokes such as brelloom, cb hera and such.

Drill Peck actually KOs those two, while Extrasensory won't always. Thanks for the comments on Jirachi, it's really a fun set to toy around with.

I'm glad the scarfzap -> Curt's subtar combo I gave you is working out. :D

I would personally go with Drill Peck as your last zapdos slot. It never hurts to have something else that can ohko heracross and breloom. I use thunder wave but thats only because I really hate gengar and infernape. Also, go for 304 speed (before choice scarf) to get a ton of hilarious revenge kills on scarfchomp (which beats your team really badly).

Thanks jrrrrrrr. I've been running Drill Peck on Zapdos, it really has more advantages than Extrasensory. I might try a Timid set with 304 Speed, because that would also allow me to pack more HP EVs allowing Zapdos to counter thinks more effectively.

You seem a bit SpecShay weak. You best switch in (Jirachi) takes 30.17% - 35.41% so it can get dropped w/ SR and a Sp. Def drop. Even if you don't get dropped you have to Wish to survive and they can bring in their Zone/Duggy and rape you. If they dont have said trapper (Duggy in particular really helps out Shaymin) then they can foce you out and they get another chance to drop you when you switch back in, and if they hit a little above average they can kill you with a second volley. Your Zapdos is taking 43.66% - 51.33% from Seed Flare with that, SS and SR you can't switch it back in almost all the time even with Wish support because of SR. It OHKO's the rest of the team, while you can't OHKO it with ANY attack. Sure you can spin away SR, but almost every viable OU Spinner can be trapped and killed. Besides, Starmie won't appreciated Seed Flare. You'd have to revenge Spin and even then you've lost one Pokemon and could lose your spinner to a trapper while you spin. I recommend another Grass resist over Chomp/Gyra.

I'm not too worried about Shaymin for the simple fact that I have only faced one in my entire battling career. I can see if there are any changes I can make to better handle SpecsShay, but I won't be making any huge changes for a threat I almost never encounter. Perhaps if I go to a Timid Zapdos I'll have enough HP to handle SpecsShay.

That's understandable, but do realize they are out there (I personally run one) and are getting more popular (I saw 2 others yesterday).

Pretty good but I feel you need better special fire support in the form of scarftan. I would use gorms tran that uses Fire Blast / EP / HP Ice / Stealth Rock. I think that is what it is ._.

You might want Ice Beam > Surf on Starmie mainly for coverage.
I'd rather be able to Counter Infernape. =\

Hmm... I dunno, it could come in handy, but we'll see. Thanks.
