This is a team that is not tested as of yet and is only on paper. I have been in the battle scene for over a year now and I think I know Heavy offense and balanced teams pretty well. I have always wanted to try stall so I finally sat down and made this, please be honest. (I am still new to Smogon so this may not look as pretty as other RMT's)
Dusclops @ Eviolite
Ability: Pressure
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature
- Snatch
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
- Night Shade
Dusclops is very bulky, it just lacks a good recovery move. First move slot might be considered gimmicky but a lot of pokemon will try and a healing move on this guy because he cant really hurt them. The rest is a very standard set Will O Wisp protecting Chansey from any physical attacks. Night Shade is an attack with consistent damage and almost one of the few moves this guy can actually pull off. This is where I wanted my team to start, I have loved this bulky guy so much since Gen V started. The best poke I could think of to match this guy is...
Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Protect
- Wish
- Heal Bell
- Seismic Toss
Cleric Chansey teams very well with Dusclops in resisting almost all attacks. Protect is there for 3 reasons One to scout an attack, two to heal myself with Wish, third to prolong toxic on any opponent that has it. Wish is either heal myself or to pass it for major helth regen to anyone else. Seismic Toss is just about the only attack Chansey can pull off. She is the ying to Dusclops yang, in tandem this is a defensive core that is hard to beat. The biggest scare these two have are physical Dark type moves.
Cobalion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Bold Nature
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Volt Switch
- Sacred Sword
Very overlooked pokemon in my opinion. Super High defense with some good speed. Its ability paired with its x4 resitance is something that mt Chansey and Dusclops combo needed. Rocks are always great to have as they are pretty much the best move in the game. Toxic is perfect for a stall team as most pokemon fear it, and it is rather unexpected for one of the musketeers. Volt switch keeps me mobile able to switch out at a moments notice to something the pokemon in front of me fears.. Sacred Sword is a beautiful stab move cutting through any defensive boosts.
Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
252 HP / 252 SDef / 4SAtk
Sassy Nature
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Yawn
- Recover
I always have trouble fighting these so I figured why not use one of my own. Its ability is nice against rain teams, and having my own rain it will be nice to absorb those nasty water attacks. Earth Power is a strong STAB attack that can not be ignored as it teams nicely with Ice Beam. Ice Beam is for all the dragons in the metagame. I do not have much else against them so I thought this was a better option than Scald. I choose Yawn over toxic for 2 reasons. 1 I already have multiple toxic users and 2 it is great for all those set up sweepers out there. Recover keeps this guy alive and annoying pokemon more and more.
Politoed @ Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Bold Nature
- Surf
- Protect
- Perish Song
- Toxic
Defensive toad. Maybe a less seen version than specs or scarf but I think very good in its own right. Drizzle saves my Cobalion and Forretress. Surf is the best stab this guy has, surf over scald because it runs Toxic and Dusclops always has WOW. Protect is to scout regain HP run down perish song and toxic. Perish Song will almost always force a switch Toxic has amazing residual damage. He might be my weakest deffensive link but he is here thanks to Drizzle protecting me from fire, it also helps disrupt enemy Sand and Sun teams.
Fortress @ Red Card
Ability: Sturdy
252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes
- Pain Split
- Volt Switch
Spinner is what I needed and I find this guy to be one of the best. Sturdy + Red Card is an evil combo forcing a switch almost everytime. The ev spread keeps him more bulky on both ends now taking multiple Draco Meteors. Rapid Spin and Spikes are standard for this guy. I choose Pain Split over Toxic spikes for surprise and I dont want T Spikes as I have moves such as Yawn and WOW that T Spikes would ruin, the recovery is always nice too. Volt Switch keeps my momentum going and able to switch to a better counter.
Like I said this is a first attempt and I am willing to hear your opinion. Thanks in advanced.
EDIT:
I made a couple changes that Dr. Cecil suggested, thank you. I agree with most of them except the few I did not change. Biggest being Skarm over Cobalion, over all Cobalion has better bulk ad I want to keep him. The forrtress set I run is tested and proven useful time and time again. Though if I find it does not fit this team well I will change it.
