Hi there, I've been playing pokemon competitively for about over two years and I decided to step up my game by making my first RMT. I have been playing this sand team for a couple of months and it definitely has some flaws. Hopefully you guys can help me get some ideas on how to improve it. Sorry if my RMT isn't as good as the others. Lets begin.
At a glance:
Taking a closer look:
Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Superpower
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Crunch
My sand inducer of the team, Tyranitar is picked over Hippowdon for its offensive presence. I decided to run a Choice Scarf set to get the surprise revenge kill on threats like Latios. Not a set most people would expect on a Tyranitar. It does have problems with Alakazam since Alakazam still outspeeds +1 Tyranitar and if the focus blast hits.
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stealth Rock
Heatran here is my main special attacker of the team. Air Balloon is used over life orb or choice specs to get the immunity on ground type moves. Decided to use Stealth Rock since none of the other pokemon has it. This beast is a great counter to sun teams and pokemon weak to 4x to fire. Can also take some dragon type moves as well.
Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 248 HP / 188 Def / 72 Spd
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Ice Fang
- Protect
This pokemon is the physical wall of this set. I was thinking of using skarmory but Gliscor's typing and ability was too good to pass up. Decided to use the ice fang for the dragons. Protect is to scout as well as delay for toxic and poison heal. A great pokemon for walling fighting types.
Reuniclus (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 192 HP / 64 Def / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
Reuniclus is my main sweeper of the team. I liked how Magic Guard prevent indirect damage so it can be on a sand team, but I'm thinking of replacing it with a better sweeper. Being trapped by dark types and lack of offensive threat compared to other sweepers made me look for other options. Still a threat to fighting types.
Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SDef
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
This is my revenge killer. Its bullet punch is quite devastating for faster threats. Saved me a quite few battles. Scizor is also my scout to see what my opponent will send out. Has great synergy with Heatran since because of Heatran's immunity to fire.
Gastrodon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Def / 172 SDef
Calm Nature
- Earth Power
- Scald
- Recover
- Ice Beam
Gastrodon is my special wall as well as my rain counter. It gives rain teams a lot of headaches. I put some EVs on defense to take some physical hits as well. I opted Ice Beam over Toxic for coverage and conflicts with Scald's burn though I'm thinking of putting Toxic back for special walls. Works great with Gliscor since Gastrodon covers for its ice and water weakness. I call it my GG wall combo.
Threats:
One of the biggest threats to this team I noticed is Keldeo. Its mixed offensive capabilities bypasses my walls. Secret sword decimates gastrodon and hydro pump+ ice beam destroys Gliscor. If it's a choice scarf set, I can kinda deal with it by switching my walls but it's calm mind set destroys. Scizor's bullet punch is resisted and Tyranitar + Heatran can't obviously deal with this pony. Reniculus can kinda take it depending on the situation.
Not a total threat like keldeo. But if my heatran gets knocked out, then this bug can be a threat espcially if it gets a quiver dance. It outspeeds my tyranitar at +1 and kills it with bug buzz. Gastrodon can't handle Volcorona if it carries Giga Drain. Scizor can't handle the heat, Reniculus is weak to bug, and Gliscor is a physical wall. If heatran's around then I'm fine.
Conclusion: Hopefully you guys can help me get some ideas for this team. Rain teams with keldeo is a pain to fight. Thanks for checking out and reading this RMT.
