Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Jolly Nature
- Zen Headbutt
- Hammer Arm (got some advice to replace this with Ice Punch)
- Earthquake
- Meteor Mash
I centered my team around Megagross as I found it to be a cool Pokemon. Megagross deals significant damage to Fairies, often OHKO’ing them with Meteor Mash. Zen Headbutt is another STAB move and it allows for the possibility of flinch. Earthquake for coverage. I included Hammer Arm for coverage as well, but I’m thinking of changing it for Ice Punch due to its lowering of speed and redundancy with Earthquake.
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 SpD
- Defog
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Dazzling Gleam
Togekiss is my support Pokemon. I initially had Latias in this spot, but I switched it for Togekiss as it could not learn Heal Bell, which I view as necessary to the well-being of my team. Wish is obviously for restoring HP, and I wanted to include at least one offensive move so I wouldn’t be screwed in a one-on-one situation. My weird EVs are supposedly designed to virtually ensure that Togekiss survives most STAB physical and special attacks.
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hidden Power [Ice]
As Greninja is currently suspected and therefore cannot be used, I replaced it with an offensive Rotom-Wash, which is exceeding my expectations. Its initial purpose was to counter the fire-types that easily defeat Megagross. Thunderbolt allows me to hit Pokemon such as Keldeo which I previously had a hard time with. I chose Hydro Pump over Scald/Surf for more power, and HP Ice for coverage over Dragon-types. Finally, I put Will-o-Wisp in the last slot to (hopefully) cripple physical attackers. I was debating on whether or not to replace Leftovers with Wide Lens for the accuracy boost. Also, I was thinking to have Rotom hold a Zoom Lens and change its nature to Quiet for its even-better accuracy boost.
Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Ice Punch
- Knock Off
As Megagross is weak to Dark-types, I included Conkeldurr. Pretty standard moveset; Drain Punch to restore HP and Mach Punch for priority. Ice Punch for Dragons and other Pokemon that Conkeldurr gets walled with. I included Knock Off for the Ghost-types (ex. Gengar) and Psychic-types that would otherwise easily beat Conkeldurr. I chose Guts as opposed to Iron Fist because I noticed that many trainers wanted to cripple my Conkeldurr; with this ability, the joke’s on them!
Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
I’ll be honest – I only included Landorus-T because it was an S-rank on the OU Viability ladder. However, it has turned out to be a valuable member of my team. I use it mostly to set up Stealth Rocks and then quickly escape with U-turn. Earthquake is an extremely powerful STAB attack, and Stone-Edge is for the Flying-types I would otherwise be unable to hit. My only problem with Landorus is that it is somewhat frail; should I invest in its Speed stat more and give it a Life Orb?
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 56 HP / 252 SpA / 200 Spe
Modest Nature
- Heat Wave
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Earth Power
Heatran was my last Pokemon to be included. I wanted a Fire-type on my team and saw no use in Charizard if it wasn’t going to be my mega. Heatran gives me extra coverage on Fairy-types, and Heat Wave is an extremely strong STAB that I use to battle Mega Pinsirs, etc. Flash Cannon as another STAB/attack on Fairy-Types, and HP Ice for Dragon-types such as Lati@s that otherwise give me trouble. I’m not sure on whether or not I should include Earth Power; my other moves (I think) cover anything that Earth Power is good for.
Any help is greatly appreciated. My team is easily walled against many Water-types, especially Quagsire, due to the presence of only one Electric/Grass move, along with specific Pokemon such as Bisharp. Thanks a lot!
