RMT OU

Hello guys! This is my first go at a competitive team since 2010, so here goes! It peaked at 1594 in Showdown OU.

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 4 HP / 126 Atk / 126 SAtk
Hasty Nature
- Fire Blast
- Explosion
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
Azelf has long been a favorite of mine; I've used him in OU even when he was RU. He's faster than pretty much every lead I can think of other than Deoxys-S, and has very respectable Attack and spA. The reason he's not OU is the fact that he has base 70 defenses. His main purpose is to taunt the opposing lead, use Stealth Rock when they switch, and then go out with a bang in the form of explosion. Although Taunt forces Ferrothorn and Skarmory to switch, I like just killing them with Fire Blast better. I suppose psychic could be used instead for STAB, but many leads like Forretress, Deoxys-S etc resist it.

Heracross @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge
Heracross will usually be the guy I go to after Azelf explodes/gets KOd. Close Combat and megahorn obviously for STAB, Earthquake for Aegislash. Stone Edge is for Togekiss and other flying types. Scarf + Moxie is a strategy that I really love, and unprepared opponents can be quickly swept with this. I considered using Mega Heracross, however, I went for the speed over the power.

Mandibuzz (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Toxic
- Defog
- Knock Off
Now, before you go and chastise me about using a defogger with a SR guy, let me explain. Once Azelf and Heracross have both been taken down, the rest of my guys are really, really weak to Stealth Rock. Dragonite relies heavily on Multiscale, and Charizard is 4x weak to Stealth Rock. Knock Off is specifically for opposing Chansey, but has also helped me against opposing Choice Scarfers (is that a word?). I ran some calculations...
252 Atk Garchomp Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mandibuzz: 136-162 (32 - 38.2%) -- 0.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252+ Atk Dragonite Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mandibuzz: 204-241 (48.1 - 56.8%) -- 38.7% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mandibuzz: 199-235 (46.9 - 55.4%) -- 16.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
There are more, but you get the idea. That gives Mandibuzz enough time to poison them and start spamming roost. I considered running Iron Defense over Knock Off, but thought that would leave her excessively vulnerable to Taunt.

Dragonite @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Roost
- Earthquake
I actually have never tried a Dragonite prior to this generation. I didn't see what was so alluring about a dragon with 3 weaknesses (Rock, Ice, Dragon) that were pretty common in OU. Well, Multiscale and Weakness Policy gave me an answer to that. Multiscale means Dragonite will survive pretty much anything, and since he's a magnet for supereffective hits, I thought Weakness Policy was a good choice. Dragon Claw and Earthquake provides neutral coverage on just about anything not named Skarmory, and roost is so that if he gets a hit that is not supereffective, he can roost and then wait for a supereffective attack to hit so weakness policy activates. Fire Punch is an option, but I'm more worried about Heatran than Skarmory.

Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Dragon Pulse
- Air Slash
Charizard isn't NU anymore! With the introduction of Mega Evolutions, many pokemon got bumped up a tier or two, and Charizard is one of them. This guy has two main purposes: To kill Azumarills with SolarBeam and to kill Steel types who can't be poisoned by Mandibuzz or Deoxys-D, such as Skarmory who also doesn't mind taking Dragon Claws from Dragonite. Flamethrower, Air Slash, and SolarBeam are definitely the best 3 moves that Charizard has. I'm seriously considering putting in Focus Blast for Dragon Pulse, because of Heatran, and because Dragonite checks opposing Dragons. 328 Speed, while not amazing, actually outspeeds a lot of common threats and Charizard is bulky enough to take a hit or two from a faster Pokemon.

Deoxys-Defense @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Def
Calm Nature
- Cosmic Power
- Toxic
- Recover
- Night Shade

For my last spot, I needed someone who could take Volt Switches and Thunderbolts for Mandibuzz and Charizard Y. Deoxys-Defense is often used for entry hazards, but he's not too shabby at all as a user of Cosmic Power. Oftentimes, an opponent will keep in their special attacker for a turn, realize it can't make a dent in Deoxys, and switch. This gives me enough time to get a Cosmic Power or two up, and nothing can OHKO Deoxys-D with a Cosmic Power. Spikes and Stealth Rock are a bit pointless, because Mandibuzz will defog them away if there are rocks on my side of the field.
252 SpA Gengar Shadow Ball vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ SpD Deoxys-D: 90-108 (29.6 - 35.5%) -- 16% chance to 3HKO
252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Claw vs. +1 252 HP / 4 Def Deoxys-D: 126-150 (41.4 - 49.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Mega Pinsir X-Scissor vs. +1 252 HP / 4 Def Deoxys-D: 134-158 (44 - 51.9%) -- 10.9% chance to 2HKO

So basically my strategy will be to set up rocks and then explode with Azelf, then try to start a Moxie Heracross sweep. Once Heracross faints, then I'll send in Mandibuzz, Defog away opposing rocks, and try to sweep with Dragonite. If that doesn't work, I can always stall with Deoxys-D.

Threatlist: Gliscor really hurts me. He can't be statused, and can take hits from Dragonite and Heracross all day. Charizard gets a guaranteed 2HKO, but if he has fainted, then nobody can take down Gliscor.
With the right moveset, Mega Pinsir can also cause some problems. He OHKOs Heracross with Quick Attack. He's faster than CHarizard, and OHKOs him with Stone Edge/Rock Slide. He can Stone Edge Dragonite as well. Tyranitar is another guy that can cause problems. If Heracross is dead, he can set up with Dragon Dance or just wreck with Rock type moves. Crunch kills Deoxys-D and Azelf's Focus Sash is rendered useless by Sand Stream.

I know this team is far from perfect, but please give feedback and ratings. Thank you!

Hyper offense with mandibuzz and stall deo-d is redundant TBW.
You NEED a special attcker. Mandibuzz and deo-d (unless lead) Dont belong in HO.
For defog, use lati@s (pick your fav). You can run ice beam to obliterate gliscor, but LO Draco meteor from either is probs an ohko.
If you are adamant about having 1 stall poke, use something besides deo-d. Crocune or a variant, maybe? The OP sub toxic aegislash? Either way make a change.

I would think you should switch the roles of dragonite and charizard. WP dragonite isint good at all above the lower-maybemid ladder, especially without extremespeed and with roost (roost is bad and no extremespeed is bad). Switch it for Banded dragonite. Band extremespeed is great utility, and dragon/fire/ground is amazing coverage.
Then for charizard you can switch to a megazardX dragon dance sweeper, using tpunch or EQ to cover azumarill or heatran respectively. Roost DD sweepers arent good above the lower ladder, on the upper ladder people wont hit dnite with SE and let it do less than 50% so multiscale isint put intact again.

Again, stall deo-d isint good. One crit and your fucked, and any steel with recovery can PP stall you. SubToxic aegi or a wallbreaker such as specs keldeo will get the job done.
Good luck
