Bulky Offense Rises Again
Team at a glance:
A closer look:
Machamp @ Lum Berry
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 72 HP/ 176 Atk/ 120 SpDef/ 140 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/ -SpAtk)
- DynamicPunch
- Payback
- Ice Punch
- Bullet Punch
Anti-Lead Machamp is one of the most effective leads in the Metagame. He has ways of dealing with a lot of common leads and can even take out 2-3 pokemon on an unprepared team. The speed EVs allow him to outspeed BASE 70 minimum speed pokemon such as Metagross and Skarmory. The HP and SpDef EVs allow him to live through Azelf's Psychic with at least 1 HP remaining and KO with Payback and Bullet Punch. Here is how I deal with common leads:
Azelf: Payback then Bullet Punch for a 2HKO
Aerodactyl: DynamicPunch then Bullet Punch for a 2HKO
Infernape: His Fake Out + Fire Blast/Close Combat dont even KO, and I can DynamicPunch then Bullet Punch to 2HKO
Dragonite: Outspeed and OHKO with Ice Punch
Swampert: I DynamicPunch then switch to Zapdos to KO
Metagross: 3HKO with DynamicPunch and maybe get some confusionhax
Jirachi: 3HKO with DynamicPunch
Roserade: Survive sleep with Lum Berry and KO with Ice Punch/Bullet Punch
Heatran: I can survive Fire Blast and KO with DynamicPunch and Bullet Punch if he survives the first attack (guaranteed 2HKO)
TTar: OHKO with DynamicPunch
Gliscor: DynamicPunch + Ice Punch for a 2HKO
Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpDef
Nature: Relaxed (+Def/ -Spe)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Roar
Swampert is very bulky and can set up SR and phase after that. Ice Beam OHKOs Salamence and seriously dents other dragons like Latias and Flygon. Grass weakness is covered by Mence. He can phase DDGyara if he cant handle it. It usually comes in after Machamp once he KOs a few pokemon.
Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/ -SpAtk)
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
Jirachi is an effective revenge killer to most of OU, and can serve as one if Scizor is knocked out. It can effectivly cover Mence, Latias, Gyarados and other top threats. He also has natural Base 100 defenses so he can take a hit without much investment. Some calculations:
Fire Punch vs 4 HP Scizor: OHKO
Fire Punch vs 252 HP Scizor: 87%-100% damage = OHKO with Stealth Rock
Iron Head vs 4 HP Tyranitar: 65%-77% damage = 2HKO (OHKO if he has taken prior damage)
Ice Punch vs 4 HP Salamence: OHKO
Thunder Punch vs 4 Def Gyarados: OHKO
Thunder Punch vs 156 HP/ 96 Def Gyarados: 87%-100% damage = OHKO with Stealth Rock
Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 16 Atk/ 240 SpAtk/ 252 Spe
Nature: Naive (+Spe/ -SpDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Flamethrower
This is my only frail sweeper, and he can still take a hit from the physical side and can even survive a STAB Ice Shard from Weavile/Mamoswine when factoring in intimidate. He can dish out damage from the physical and special side. Dragon Claw was chosen over Outrage since Outrage invites Steel-types to come in and set up.
Scizor @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/ -SpAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Superpower
Scizor is a late-game sweeper as well as a revenge-killing assistant to Jirachi if the latter faints early. Leftovers were chosen over Life Orb for added durability. His natural bulk is one of the reasons he is on this team.
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpAtk/ 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
- Thunderbolt
- Heat Wave
- HP Grass
- Roost
Zapdos was chosen because of natural Bulk and Leftovers were chosen over Life Orb for durability. It can still 2HKO Swampert and even OHKO after it has been weakened (Such as LeadPerts by my Machamp) Moves give good coverage while also making him Bulky Water's worst nightmare, having acces to TBolt and HP Grass. HP Grass allows him to be the only reliable counter to Swampert on my team.
