Overview:
Metallica (Metagross) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 82 HP/252 Atk/176 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Trick
- Stealth Rock/Pursuit
- Meteor Mash
- Explosion
Tricking Metagross is an annoyance that nobody likes to fight. Most items I get are usually beneficial, especially fighting suicide leads like Azelf, since I can inherit their Focus Sash, force a switch, and assure an SR or an Attack before I fall. I've considered Pursuit for a little while, but that would leave me without SR, which is essentially a necessity. But after forcing the switch with CS, Pursuit could nab some free kills. My teamates are pretty good when other leads try to outsmart him, such as Azelf Fire Blasting from the get-go. Just switch to T-tar, and Pursuit. Almost always gets SR up, and is still a solid physical force.
Epiphany (Vaporeon) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 192 HP/252 Def/6 SAtk/60 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Wish
- Protect
My bulkier Scizor counter, since Zapdos is 2KO'd by a SD Bullet Punch factoring in Stealth Rock. HP Fire ends it quick, and Surf is for STAB. Wish is to support members of the team like Zapdos, Tyranitar, and Meta, since they're bulky enough to heal up. Fairly good at what it does.
The Hollow (Gengar) (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 64 Atk/252 Spd/194 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Hypnosis
I love McGar to bits. Blissey, Tyranitar and Heatran can all just bite me. Shadow Ball + Focus Punch is neutral to everything, and I can get in and force most things out. Especially when I can use Trick on Gross to lock them into one of Gengar's immunities. Hypnosis is a bitch when it misses, but that's why sub's there, and it can usually incapacitate a counter successfully. Expert Belt adds power, but I don't want to go for Life Orb, since SS and LO would wear me down too quickly.
Thrasher (Tyranitar) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 178 HP/252 Atk/80 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aqua Tail
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Crunch
Pretty much the standard CBTar. Removes Cresselia and Starmie blocking a Mixape Sweep at the later stage of the match, and does an excellent job of trapping and damaging in general. Skarmory can't counter this bad boy. Stone Edge 2KO's with Stealth Rock. Aqua Tail hits Heatran and Hippowdon pretty badly. Pursuit after I've trapped a ScarfGar or a suicide lead Azelf. Even if they're not a ghost/psychic, most things take immense damage. For example, Zapdos running loses about half it's health. Sp. Def boost from SS allows it to function well as a decent special counter, and Vaporeon can help it with Wish support, since it comfortably takes T-bolt.
Gunslinger (Infernape) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 26 Atk/232 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Close Combat
- Flamethrower
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Mixape without NP. This team was created to set up a Mixape sweep, and late game, this thing is just so good. Resists common priority moves like Bullet Punch and Ice Shard, and gets great coverage. Not a lot of explanation required. Sandstorm is more helpful to it, because despite losing 16% of health a turn, he gets Blaze activated quickly.
Paralyzer (Zapdos) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 6 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- U-turn
A solid revenge killer with a good typing. Thunderbolt and Heat Wave are almost given, while Hidden Power Grass makes sure Swampert is still workable. U-Turn scouts counters. I'm looking for a possible replacement, since Sandstorm and SR take their toll on him. If you have any ideas. Ideally, I'm looking for something with a ground immunity that isn't part flying, and a fighting resist.
Threats:
Stealth Rock: Most of the team takes neutral or less from SR, but Zapdos despises it to bits, hence the possible replacement part.
Toxic Spikes: UGH. I despise these. Vaporeon and Tyranitar need to be healthy most of the time, and Infernape already has problems with Sandstorm and Life Orb. Gengar can't swiftly take down users of TS, like Forretress and Tentacruel, and is badly maimed in return.
Mixape: Not that bad, really. Vaporeon is the most obvious counter, since a boosted Grass Knot can't OHKO, but Zapdos and possibly Meta can revenge kill.
Scizor: Vaporeon is bulky enough to take hits from it will, and Wish off later, and silences fast with HP Fire. Zapdos is the next best thing, but has to be weary of SR. Infernape is my last ditch resort, but I'm almost always able to finish him.
Heatran: Once more, Vappy. He's so good in the Platinum metagame. If not Vaporeon, then Tyranitar can beat it even if it's locked in Earth Power, since it can't 2KO due to the special boost.
Blissey: Not a huge issue. Metagross cares little about paralysis, since after he's tricked his CS, it doesn't bug him much. Tyranitar is much the same, except Pursuit is nearly a killer switching out. Blissey also can't switch in on Gengar, due to Focus Punch.
Skymin: My best shot is revenge killing it, but even Tyranitar can take a Seed Flare if absolute worst comes to worst.
Zapdos: Tyranitar takes roughly 24-32% from a max Sp. Atk Thunderbolt, and Zapdos is silenced with Stone Edge. Infernape revenge kills with HP Ice.
Tyranitar: Metagross takes everything except Earthquake fairly well, and can silence with Meteor Mash. Infernape also is famed for revenge kills, even after one DD.
Porygon-Z: Tyranitar does well against all variants without HP Fighting, and since most will be locked in a single attack, Pursuit can kill them off nicely.
So, advice, comments, and such.
