RMT Rain dance

CHANGES ARE IN RED

Hello This is my first competitive team so it might not be as good as some of the more experienced players but I think it is still half way decent. I've been testing it on Pokemon online for quite some time.

[pimg]186[/pimg]

Politoed@ Choice Scarf
Modest
4hp/252spatk/252Spd
Ability:Drizzle
Moves:
Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Focus Blast
HP(Electric)

With Politoed Dream World ability being Drizzle it's obvious it should be my lead. The moveset is pretty good in my opinion. Hydro Pump is for STAB.Ice Beam is for Dragon types like Garchomp. This also takes on other weather team leads pretty well. For other politoed who dun scarf, hidden power is there :D. For those who scarf...well hope lady luck shines on you :). For sandstorm team, hydropump is there and scarf make sure i outspeeds tyranitar/ hippowdon. Nine tales also isnt a problem. For the rarely seen hail team, abomasnow, either focus blast or just switch >.<

[pimg]230[/pimg]

Kingdra@Chesto Berry
Adamant
Ability: Swift Swim
192hp/64atk/252spd
Moves:
Waterfall
Outrage
Rest
Dragon Dance

Kingdra is great with Rain. Considering some of them have Swift Swim as their ability they will be good to have. Waterfall is for STAB and for possible flinching as well as being boosted by the rain. Outrage is for Pokemon that have low physical defense and . Dragon Dance just makes Kingdra faster and stronger thanks to the attack and speed boost.Rest can cure Kingdra of any damage it has lost through direct attacks, Stealth Rock, and other residual damage.

[pimg]145[/pimg]

Zapdos@Leftovers
Timid
Ability:Lightning Rod
192hp/64def/252spd
Moves:
Substitute
Thunder
Roost
HP(Ice/grass)

The idea of this set is to switch into an Electric attack, get the boost, Sub up, and sweep. SubRoost is a great stall combo, and really helps against low PP moves. Thunder has perfect accuracy in the rain, and is a monstrous attack with STAb and BP of 120. The last choice is preference. HP Grass cover the Water/Ground combo, while Ice covers Dragons and Grass types such as Breloom and Eruufun.

[pimg]134[/pimg]

Vaporeon@LifeOrb
Modest
Ability:Hydration
32hp/224def.252Spatk
Moves:
Rest
Surf
Toxic
Ice beam

Well, most rain dance team would have vaporeon as a tanker who use hydration to the maximum. But this set allows vaporeon to use it 130 spA to the max and become another scary water sweeper. :D Also, hydration would there there to make sure i can go for round 2,3... and be a bulky sweeper. Surf is for STAB Ice covers Dragons and Grass types.Toxic for those tanker like Blissy

Roobushin@leftover
Adamant
Ability: Iron Fist
200hp/ 56atk / 252Sp.def
Moves:
bulk up
mach punch
drain punch
stone edge

Well...This is the replacement for my azumarill and also cut down on my grass/electric weakness that is pointed out by alot of people. The evs are pumped into hp and sp.def to make it bulkier and 56atk evs to 2HKO nattorei.(i think i got this set from somewhere but forgotten)Somehow, it has mach punch to counter dorykyuu which serves as aqua jet, enuf attack evs to 2HKO nattorei with drain punch and stone edge for coverage. Bulk up could also be used when switching into pokemon that does no harm to roobushin and roobushin may proceed to sweep 2-3 pokemon on its on.Well...This pokemon replace azumarill job or even does it better.

Nattorei@Choice Band
Brave
ability: Iron Barbs
Moves:
Gyro Ball
Power Whip
Level Field
Explosion
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
0 Spe

Well....Since alot people recommend me to add nattorei into my team(and to get rid of my ditto :( ), i dun really liked the usually defense nattorei but i came upon this set and tried it. ITS AWESOME. Choice Band Nattorei HITS extremely hard and most people would not expect it. Imagine switching heatran or shandera to take on your nattorei and you use level Field( assuming you predicted right) usually scores an OHKO. one word AWESOME. Gyro Ball, power whip, level Field are for coverage moves and explosion is for last resort. This is extremely good!.... Well, if you think i should change to a defensive set, could you explain with reasons.
And i am not sure about the moves sets and evs,so if anybody has a better move set for choice band nattorei, please suggest to me Thanks :)

Well that's my Gen 5 Rain Dance team and I hope you enjoyed it. Please feel free to give me your opinions make this team better.
Thanks for reading =D

My past pokemon:

[pimg]184[/pimg]

Azumarill@LifeOrb
Adament
Ability:Huge Power
248hp/252atk/8spd
Moves:
Aqua Jet
Cheer Up
Brick Break
Level Field

Azumarill is another great Pokemon that benefits from the rain. Imagine a pokemon with 50base attack, huge power , lift orb , cheer up , rain dance stabbed piority aqua Jet? azumarill is here to fufill that. Aqua Jet is to to hit it's opponent first. Level field is good for Azumarill to take out Pokemon that resist Aqua Jet such as Natorrei. Brick Break is for those normal type tanker .(Well, i was wondering wherther to add water fall in for a water stabbed attack that hits harder. :( )

[pimg]132[/pimg]

Ditto@ChoiceScarf
Any
Ability:Eccentric
252hp
Moves:Transform

Well....Ditto is here to fill in all the slots missing from my team.To counter sweepers and a lot more. The 252 hp Iv is obvious since hp is the only stats that matter when ditto is out on the field.

u use to much water-type pokemon :) if the opponent has some electric and grass-type pokemon, it's very hard for u to win :) try using toxicroack or bronzong or ludicolo, and why the ditto?? please expand ur writing. write why u use those pokemon and how u combine them with each other :)

Eh...Thank you for your honest reply. But i feel that so much water type would not be a big problem. First of all, i have zapdos. Secondly, kingdra and Politoed would be able to out speed most grass type with no prob. Azumarill has a water piority move and ice punch. Vaporeon i think would be tank enuf to tank the grass type attack and can rest off the damage. Lastly... Ditto, i dun think i need to say anything do i?

False.

Vaporeon cannot handle grass-type hits, especially with that offensive spread of yours. Pretty much every grass hit will ohko her, leaving your team HIGHLY suspectable to grass-type attacks. I suggest changing it for something a little more... effective.

Also. YES! YOU DO NEED TO SAY MORE! Get that darned Ditto out of there. You can't just slap a ditto on your team and call it good. You need to have reason, and quite frankly, I doubt you had any behind your terrible choice of ditto. Ditto is effective for teams in their only stages. Effective teams don't use ditto. At the beginning of teams, ditto is used to take care of all your problems that you don't know you have. Once you figure out these problems, it's a good idea to change it with something that MORE effectively deals with these problems. If your team has so many holes that you NEED a ditto to patch them all, it's not a good team. Period.

Ermm...Thank You for your reply. But i went and calculate using damage calculator. A life orb birijion would only be able to deal 211~248 damage to my vaporeon using a stabbed giga drain with 252 evs in SpA.( i used birijion as it is the most common counter to rain dance team). Well, i know vaporeon isnt a match for grass types... but i believe it has the ability to tank a grass type move.As for my crippling grass type weakness, i still do not think that i have it. If you disagree, please explain with reasons to help me understand. Thanks As for ditto, it is still there as i need to know where my team lacks in.More battle would be needed and i hope i can gain some insights as to who to replace ditto with.

I'm not going to dump a load of evil on you, but to sum it up: get rid of two Water-types or replace at very least with dual-types and as soon as possible, remove Ditto.

I hope you take the others advice and remove at least one of your mono-waters. 3 grass/electric weaks are far too much, zapdos cant cover it all by itself, even with a defensive spread.
I suggest removing vappy for nattorei. it walls very well and gives you a sorely needed dragon/grass/electric resist, though mainly dragon.

I'll give an example from my team for convenience. my lead deoxys-S sets up SR then fires off a superpower before dying thanks to sash. Latios comes in on Politoed, and now something on your team is going to die. Specs meteor OHKO's your entire team. after you sac something ditto/kingdra comes in to revenge and i switch to nattorei. neither ditto/kingdra can do jackshit to nattorei so i either get a free leech seed or power whip on your switch-in. your best attempt to counter nattorei is azumarill, but its hard to switch in since nattorei really doesnt fear throwing around power whips vs your team. even if you do get in, i switch to latios on the brick break and score another kill with meteor. rinse and repeat and i dont even need my other 3 pokes.

I really dont like ditto on a rain team. another swift swimmer should be able to just as effectively revenge key threats(you should have an idea of what you want/need to revenge, you should not go "i need a revenge killer so i'll just throw ditto onto my team"), while still fitting with the team. Ditto screws up with your teams focus and momentum, and all it does it act as a giant band-aid for the big holes.

thank you for your reply. I do know that my team(even ditto) cant kill nattorei. Most probably i would need to sac 2-3 pokemon just to kill nattorei and most of my match are lost like that :(. Somehow, i cant seem to find a good counter for nattorei in a rain dance team as fire is 2x less effective. Thats why i post my team up here to get comments and most probably, someone could give me an insights to who i should replace ditto with to counter nattorei(my team worse threat). a nattorei vs nattorei battle would not be nice :(. So could you give me a possible replacement to counter nattorei. Thanks in advance

Use Toxicroak. Dry Skin makes you immune to water attacks as well as recover 1/8 of your HP every turn. More if you use Leftovers. Toxicroak can easily come in and Bulk Up or Sword Dance against Nattorei and proceed to Drain Punch it.

Replace Azumarill with Special LOL-udicolo. It isn't weak to Grass or Electric, and can Focus Blast Nattorei. Azu is too slow to sweep.

Also, Ditto on a rain team is a terrible waste. How about Nattorei? Hazards, resists Electric and Grass, has pretty good synergy with Zapdos (especially in the rain), and means you have a 4x resist or an immunity to Electric, Grass, and Water.

...or a Toxicroak.

I was just about to say remove Azumarill for something else but I refreshed the page and saw that it was changed.

Other than that Vaporeon does not do much for your team. What is the point of havin a defensive pokemon if it possesess the most common weaknesses on your team. You should switch it for a Nattorei so you have something that actually resists both Electric AND Grass together (and you also do not have anything resistant against Electric. A set like this would be advisable:

Nattorei @ Leftovers
Relaxed
252 HP/252 Def/ 4 Att
- Spikes/Stealth Rocks
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball/Level Ground

This set provides a way to set up residual damage against your opponent as you will need to be switching and it is a great way to net those definite KOs in when using a sweeper. Leech Seed is a must as it is its only way to heal health outside of Leftovers. Power whip is a standard STAB and Gyro Ball to benefit resistances or Level Ground soley for Magnezone.

Thanks, and enjoy!

Thanks for your reply.Because of this, i have replaced my azumarill with roobushin( toxicroak does not work quite right in my team). and it allows my to come across choice band nattorei which is awesome. A 314 attack stabbed 0iv choice band 150bp gyro ball...How pain is that :D... however, i am not sure about the moves set so if anyone could suggest one to me. Thanks in Advance
