Hello Smogon, I am fairly new to the forums, having just joined yesterday, but have played showdown for the past couple weeks. I have experimented with a few teams, but I find that my team synergy and ability to counter a few pokemon is not up to par. With every set I create, there are always a few pokemon that can take it down. This is the one that has worked the best for me, so I was wondering what you guys thought of it:
Galvantula @ Focus Sash Ability: Compoundeyes
Moves:
-Sticky Web
-Thunder
-Volt Switch
-Bug Buzz
EV: 252 SpA 252 Sp 4 SpD Timid Nature
Galvantula is my suicide sticky web lead. He also is fairly strong and powerful, as he has unexpectedly taken out some opponents too since they cannot take him out in one shot. He is very important to my team because my offensive pokemon, Exploud and Pinsir, are fairly slow and can go first usually due to Sticky Web.
Exploud @ Choice Specs Ability: Scrappy
Moves:
-Boomburst
-Flamethrower
-Overheat
-Focus Blast
EV: 252 SpA 108 SpD 148 Sp Modest Nature
Exploud is my main special attacker (besides Galvantula). STAB Boomburst can defeat many pokemon, and it's use is further increased with Scrappy. He creates many switches, but a problem I have is predicting the switch. I could end up KOing the pokemon or doing next to no damage. Also, I wonder if I should increase the speed, since there are still pokemon he cannot out speed with sticky web (besides priority moves)
Pinsir @ Pinsirite Ability: (Normal) Mold Breaker (Mega) Aerilate (spelling might be off)
Moves:
-Quick Attack
-Return
-Swords Dance
-Earthquake
EV: 252 Atk 252 Sp 4 Def Jolly Nature
Pinsir is my main physical attacker. While Ferrothorn can certainly do some damage with Power Whip, the majority of physical damage comes from him. Swords Dance lets me set up, and then I can deal major damage. Although, a problem I face is his fragility. I often find myself losing him early in battle, as he doesn't take many hits.
Mandibuzz @ Leftovers Ability: Overcoat
Moves:
-Defog
-Foul Play
-Roost
-Taunt
EV: 252 Hp 252 Def 4 SpD Impish Nature
Mandibuzz serves as both a physical wall and to render walls useless and block entry hazards. I have used this team about 10 times thus far, and Mandibuzz has often been my most useful. Despite this usefulness, there is one large problem I face. Defog does get rid of my entry hazards, which pose a HUGE threat to my team (3 terrible stealth rock weaknesses), it does remove my opponents as well. This can be very frustrating because the sticky web is so useful for exploud and pinsir (and I also have a hazard setter). My question is, is there a way I can have a spinner while still having a pokemon as useful as Mandibuzz? Mandibuzz is also my only way of getting past aegislash.
Blissey @ Leftovers Ability: Natural Cure
Moves:
-Aromatherapy
-Softboiled
-Toxic
-Seismic Toss
EV: 4 Hp 252 Def 252 SpD Careful Nature
Blissey is my trusty special wall. I find her extremely useful, as she can tank most special attacks, cure my team of ailments, cripple the opponent with toxic, and still damage with seismic toss. But, one question I do have is whether to change softboiled to wish, to heal my teammates. It's not as reliable as softboiled, and I would probably have to add protect to this set. I would not want to remove any of the other moves however.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers Ability: Iron Barbs
Moves:
-Stealth Rock
-Leech Seed
-Protect
-Power Whip
EV: 252 Hp 252 Def 4 Atk Impish Nature
I use ferrothorn as a back up to Mandibuzz as another physical wall. Initially, I thought I would need another physical wall, but who knows, maybe it would be better with another special wall. It sets up hazard with stealth rock and drains Hp with Leech Seed and Protect. It can also work to stall in conjunction with Blissey.
If you have read this whole thread, thank you, I greatly appreciate it. I need all the suggestions I can get, as I am still learning. One thing I do ask is to not say simple things that do not help such as: "This team sucks"
