[RMT] Setup-Destroy, GREAT JOB!

Ok, this is my 2nd team build and I basically got sick of getting owned with my first team. So I decided to make a team that revolves more around an offensive strategy and this is what I've come up with.

Swampert@Leftovers
Impish
Torrent
252Hp/ 252Dff/ 6Sdff
~Earthquake
~Roar
~Stealth Rock
~Avalanche

I picked Swampert as my lead because he will almost never be OHKO and can set up stealth rock. Roserade leads pose a huge threat for Swampert and I'd definantly have to switch into someone else but I haven't come across too many so far. Avalanche packs a big punch for Taunt lead Aerodactyl and since Swampert almost never gets to attack first he can come back with a huge punch. Roar is another one of Swampert's moves that I love, set up stealth rock and roar away the opponent into stealth rock is great. Swampert is by far my favorite lead I've tried so far.

Gyarados@Leftovers
Adamant
Intimidate
154Hp/ 176Atk/ 36Dff/ 144Spd
~Earthquake
~Ice Fang
~Dragon Dance
~Waterfall

Gyarados provides bulk and type coverage against ground attacks aimed at Tyranitar, Dragon type pokemon such as latias and if set up correctly can take out Gliscor with no problem. Dragon Dance + 144 Speed EVs sets me up to a 353 speed stat which outruns most Pokemon that aren't scarfed. I picked Ice Fang over Stone Edge because Tyranitar already knows Stone Edge and I needed a pokemon with a powerful Ice move and since Swampert has pretty low attack, Gyarados is perfect for this roll.

Electivire@Life Orb
Adamant
Motor Drive
252Atk/ 252Spd/ 6Hp
~Fire Punch
~Thunderpunch
~Cross Chop
~Taunt

Electivire is my Blissey killer, I can taunt Blissey and usually 2HKO with Cross Chop, also Electivire is a great switch in when Gyarados becomes the helpless target of an electric attack. Fire punch helps take out Scizor, Magnazone and Fortress who would usually lawl at the rest of my pokemon.

Tyranitar@Choice Scarf
Adamant
Sandstream
252Atk/ 100Hp/ 100Spd/ 58Dff
~Earthquake
~Crunch
~Stone Edge
~Aqua Tail

Tyranitar is my revenge killer, fast due to choice scarg and with a good type coverage Tyranitar takes out almost everything in one hit. The EVs as of now are not what I want, I'm going to take out all the defense EVs and put it all into speed because I didn't want to sacrafice any of his HP. Tyranitar is weak againt many pokemon adding to my grass weakness which is only taken care of by Scizor. And getting hit with a Fighting Attack would destroy him but thanks to Gengar switch it usually do his job and switch out. The moveset on Tyranitar is good unfortunately I did not breed for pursuit and had to settle with STAB crunch witch is pretty effective. Aqua Tail was just a move that I picked for the 90 power but I think I want fire punch for better type coverage.

Gengar@Choice Specs
Timid
Levitate
252Spd/ 252Satk/ 6Hp
~Energy Ball
~Thunderbolt
~Focus Blast
~Shadow Ball

I love Gengar as a quick and powerful hitter, switches out and decimates the other Pokemon and Pokemon who are usually tanks, Thunderbolt OHKOs many Suicune and has even OHKO a few Vaporeon. I love Energy Ball on Gengar since none of my other Pokemon know a grass attack which is a good counter for unexpected Swamperts and other Water/Ground types. When Focus blast doesnt miss it can take out 2 or more unexpected opponents.

scizor.jpg

Scizor@Life Orb
Adamant
Technician
252Atk/ 16Spd/ 100Hp/ 100Sdff/ 42Dff
~Swords Dance
~Bullet Punch
~Pursuit
~Super Power

The sweeper. If I can set up for Swords Dance, bullet punch becomes my main choice of attack, I had vacuum wave on Scizor at first because it always attacks first which can come in handy but rarely OHKOs.

Have you tested Electivire at all? He just isn't a competitive pokemon in today's metagame at all. Rotom forms, Latias, Celebi, etc etc etc all wall him. Swampert and to a lesser extent Tyranitar can swap into any Electric attacks you are worried about. On a team like this your Gyarados isn't going to do much more than swapping into Stealth Rock to try and neutralize opposing Lucario and Gyarados that could cause some problems for your team. I wouldn't worry about creating any kind of combo to abuse of any electric attacks aimed at him because they just aren't very effective partners (Jolteon is the only other option I know people like). I would recommend TTars 56 defensive EV's go to special defense, so he can swap into some special attacks in a pinch for your team.

If you want a mixed attackers, try a mixed Salamence over your Electivire. I would say the quick hitting nature of your team would probably like the New MixMence, but the old MixMence could give your team a slight bit more mileage and longevity since he can roost. I prefer the old mixmence, but either of them would fit your offensive team very well. They break down walls much better than Electivire. See http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/salamence for the sets I was referring to.

Hi. I agree Electivire is not the greatest sweeper in this metagame. With Tyranitar, Gyarados, Scizor, and Swampert, I can't imagine Blissey being such a huge problem. You lack a counter to a few Pokemon, Gyarados isn't so well taken care of, and neither is Suicune. For this reason you should replace Electivire with Shaymin.

Shaymin @ Leftovers
Nature: Timid / EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 Spe
~ Seed Flare / Hidden Power Fire / Leech Seed / Protect

STAB Seed Flare should be enough to scare off Suicune but it call also use Leech Seed to slowly drain its health. Rest Suicune could still be problematic as they could potentially stall out Seed Flare's PP, but then you could go to Swampert to Roar it away. Hidden Power Fire is great for taking out Forretress and Scizor who often come in, thinking they are safe. Shaymin is also a decent Rotom-A counter, as Seed Flare will 2HKO the lot of them. With Natural Cure, you don't have to worry about being burned. Leech Seed and Protect allow you to drain the health of Pokemon you wouldn't normally be able to damage, such as Heatran and Blissey.

Choice Specs is an extremely risky move on Gengar, as being locked into say Energy Ball when Scizor comes in means with near certainty, you are dead. For this reason, I highly suggest you remove Choice Specs and use Life Orb. With Life Orb, you can OHKO a switching in Tyranitar for instance, and kill (hopefully) the incoming Fighting-resist with Shadow Ball. You could even drop Energy Ball for Explosion and use a Naive nature. Now you can blow up on troublesome Pokemon such as Blissey, Suicune, etc. Or if you know you're near your death, go out with a bang. Good luck.

^What he said. Switch your Swampert set to a MixPert. Also, go with a Jolly nature and a basic 252/252 spread on Ttar with Superpower in place of Aqua Tail so that you can hit other Ttar, and Heatran, and Lucario. Gl

I cannot get shaymin in my game so I need an alternative maybe skarmory and firepunch on ttar

Go for Jolteon if you can get your hands on it, its Speed and high special Attack provide an excellent answer to Gyarados and Suicune. It also provides a good Electric-type replacement to Electivire. If you worry about the frailness, then Tangrowth can be used instead, and although it is a bit more unconventional, it has very high defense and Grass Knot to threaten Suicune (although watch out for Ice Beam).

I would use Lucario over Scizor as well, it basically has the same counters as Scizor, but can handle them slightly better in some cases (Crunch Rotoms) but has an infinitely better attacking move in Close Combat. Unless there is a real reason for Scizor, but it seems ScarfTar deals with anything that Scizor normally is there for.
