RMT Tank team

I'm new to the forums and sort of new to battling. i started about 2 or 3 weeks ago and couldn't activate this forum account because it never sends the activation email to my hotmail account..

The general theme is to win with tanks that can survive hits and dish out enough damage to hit back. I win more often than lose with this team but sometimes it just gets wiped out by certain pokemon but i don't remember which ones for some reason.

Lump of Metal (Bronzong) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/18 Def/240 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Explosion
- Gyro Ball
- Hypnosis
- Trick Room

this is my lead. I'm trying to gain the advantage in the beginning with sleep powder and trick room then either switch or explosion or gyro ball can kill things like weavile and other fast stuff. also gives me an earthquake resist. Switched leftovers with lum berry.

---
Scary Face (Gyarados) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 220 HP/14 Atk/176 Def/100 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast

replaced mix metagross with bulkydos but with fireblast for things like skarmory and foretress.
I'm still testing this one.

---
Pork Chops (Mamoswine) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Stone Edge
- Curse

My physical tank. Good for revenging weakened things. I replaced sub with curse but i don't really find it very helpful.
I'm thinking of replacing this with donphan so i can rapid spin things away.
---
Fish Man (Swampert) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Waterfall
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
I replaced swampert with machamp and now i'm putting swampert back in. It gives my team stealth rock and can attack with physical or special.
I need help with its moveset.

---
Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Immunity
EVs: 252 HP/118 Def/140 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Yawn
- Return
- Belly Drum
- Thunderpunch

My special wall. I'm still testing this thing out.
I need help with it's moveset here But it seems to do ok most of the time.

---
Cyclops (Dusknoir) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Shadow Sneak
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Will-o-wisp

This is an attacking dusknoir I put together. I really like how this one is set up but I might replace WoW with counter or an ice, fire, or thunder punch.
It's very helpful most of the time. It's still decent at taking hits without defensive evs.
I'll be keeping my dusknoir like this except maybe for the last slot.
---

Most of my team uses physical hits so physical walls could be a problem like skarmory. And my team doesnt hit as hard as most sweepers

List
------
Skarmory - i would probably either use heatran to try and kill it or weaken it then explode. Maybe try to put it to sleep.
blissey - I any exploder can take it or i can bring in dusknoir, mamoswine, machamp.
Gliscor - metagross or heatran or machamp or mamoswine might do it. I think my team is gliscor weak.

Scizor - Heatran or mamoswine?
Gengar - I can either sleep it if it misses with hypnosis or maybe bronzong can 1 hit it with gyro ball.
Garchomp - this thing scares me. I just try to take it out before it sweeps my team with mamoswine or dusknoir.
Gyarados - mamoswine or heatran might be able to take it.
Snorlax - dusknoir or explode or machamp.
Weavile - I just try to use something that can survive its attack to beat it.
Yanmega - i think mamoswine can take it with ice shard but im not sure.
Breloom - mamoswine

Sorry my list isn't as long as some of the other threads here but this is what i've got so far with the time i have.

I hope you guys can help me out.

A bit of a Fire + Ground weakness, and right now Infernape tears apart the team. I think Ditching Metagross would help the most. His typing is Identical to bronzong, and he really isn't adding anything to the team. I think in his spot, a Gyarados could easily go. Gyarados is usually a decent counter to Infernape and you can run it mixed with Fire Blast, Earthquake. Waterfall, Dragon Dance to defeat Steel types such as Skarmory and Forretress, we well as Tangrowth who is an enemy of Gyarados. Intimidate helps you special oriented Bronzong for later use. Gyarados also can provide extra speed if Trick Room doesn't work and that happens more times then not.

Speaking of Bronzong you will want Lum Berry. Otherwise you will not be able to set up Trick Room when you face Gengar leads. With Lum Berry, you can easily Trick Room first turn if you see a Gengar or Roaserade and then hypnosis. Gyro Ball should kill Gengar though so I suggest a few more attack evs, specifically 152. This also allows Earthquake to Dent Heatran a lot harder potentially setting him up for a OHKO.

I would not use Mamoswine for a Physical Wall unless you run a curse set which actually fits what you are trying to do. I suggest, Maxing HP and Attack and running Curse, Substitute, Ice Shard, Earthquake. Will Curse you become slower which benefits trick room. Eventually you will soak up most physical attacks while having an massive attack score and if Trick Room was somehow still up, the fastest Earthquake. Ice Shard is for when TR leaves. Leftovers would be better over Life Orb since Life Orb + Substitute wears you down fast.

I think Dusclops would rather have Thunder Punch and Fire Punch to beat Heracross and Gyarados who gives your team trouble especially if it leads. If it is a Taunt, DD, Earthquake, Waterfall Gyarados you are pretty much done. So in Place of Heatran I suggest Slowbro with Surf, Calm Mind, Slack Off, Hidden Power [Elc]. Helps with Mixnape and other pokemon if Trick Room is not up. With Thunderpunch Noir and HP Elc Slowbro you should take Gyara fairly well.

The team lacks Stealth Rock and a Phazer so a Good sturdy Swampert is not a bad choice. He also gives you a good Electric Absorber. Replacing machamp with Swamp would be a great idea.

Another Trick Roomer would not be a Bad Idea and I can see Dusknoir running:

~Trick Room
~ThunderPunch
~Ice Punch / Earthquake
~Shadow Punch / Will - O - Wisp / Pain Split.

Good Luck, Hope this Helps.

Welcome to Smogon

Generally it's better to just increase the stats of a pokemon that will help it perform a certain role. A team of bulky pokemon is fine, it's just that things like Heatran won't be as much of a threat without a boosting nature and your walls won't take hits as well as you'd like them to. Change Metagross' nature to Brave. The extra 10% boost to attack should help more than trying to increase his sp.defense. On Machamp, those special defense Ev's won't make much of a difference when his base stat is 55. Go with something more like 144 hp/112 atk/252 def to make him more sturdy against physical attacks.

If you plan on making most of your team slow to take advantage of trick room than you'll also need another pokemon to use it. Trick room only lasts 3 turns for you to attack and you can't rely on Bronzong to put it back up repeatedly when it doesn't have a recovery move.

thanks for the rates.
but i just want you guys to know this team is not based around trick room. It's just there for me to take advantage of sometimes.

I just realized my team is zapdos weak now? darn.

Kinglerdude:

since there was so much fire weakness i replaced metagross with gyarados.
dont know if its good but im still trying it out.

Curse on mammoswine didn't seem to be working out so im thinking of replacing it with donphan since my team needs a spinner.

I've put swampert back on the team but im lost on it's moveset. Do you have any recomendations?

I tried out your slowbro and it was interesting but then i noticed half my team is weak to grass now so i replaced it with snorlax.

sorry but i'm going to be keeping my dusknoir as it is. It's not you, I just really really like it.

Redsp:

doesn't machamp have base 85 special def and base 55 speed?

your right metagross isn't a very good atacker while i'm boosting special defence. I ussually find the only thing i can do with it is maybe weaken something then explode Or just use it as sleep fodder and to take damage the whole battle.

I'lll replace him with gyarados and see what that does.

doesn't machamp have base 85 special def and base 55 speed?
Yeah, I mixed those stats up.

Fire blast is a 3hko on Skarmory with your Gyrados' EV spread. I wouldn't recommend Fire Blast on Gyrados anyway since Skarmory and Forretress can't really counter it.
