[RMT]: Team Resplendent.

Intro:
I have been testing and playing around with my team for a good 2 and half months and I think I have gotten the formula right. Plus I managed to make it pretty colourful :) So here is an overview of the team:

The Team:

heatran.png

  • Heatran: Ruby
  • Ability: Flash Fire
  • Item: Life Orb
  • EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spe/252 SAtk
  • Nature: Hasty (+Spd, -Def)
  • Moveset:
    • Overheat: For I usually switch out and sacrifice him, he has to hit things hard.
    • Protect: Often, leads are unpredictable. Protect lets me scout for them and it protects me from taking hits uneccessarily.
    • Stealth Rock: I used to use a Scarftran, but with the lack of stealth rock, I thought I'd use this.
    • Explosion: It goes boom on things it doesn't like. :)
  • Description: This was 'borrowed' from Raikoulover and edited to suit my needs. I love it as a lead. Against other popular leads, like Infernape, Aerodactyl, it has to switch, for it can't take much damage. On Suicide leads like Azelf, often protect saves me from a load of damage from explosions and other various attacks. He explodes on walls late game to severely weaken them for sweeping by my sweepers.

zapdos.png

  • Zapdos: Amber
  • Ability: Pressure
  • Item: Leftovers
  • EVs: 252 HP/36 Spe/56 SAtk/164 Def
  • Nature:Calm (+SpD, -Atk)
  • Moveset:
    • Thunderbolt: Strong STAB for damage.
    • Hidden power [Grass] : I lack a grass attack, so Zapdos can take care of swampert easily.
    • Roost: To heal after taking repeated hits. Not to mention soften the blow of a slower pokemon's stone edges.
    • Thunderwave: This is to cripple my opponents to help heracross sweep.
  • Description: A standard Zapdos who helps counter scizor who could very well bring my team down. It doesn't need heat wave in my opinion as Thunderbolt does enough already. My team has a large fighting weakness and thus to remedy this, Zapdos is here.

blissey.png

  • Blissey: Garnet
  • Ability: Natural Cure
  • Item: Leftovers
  • EVs: 252 Def/216 SpD/40 SpA
  • Nature: Calm (+ SpD, -Atk)
  • Moveset:
    • Wish: For team support and Self healing.
    • Protect: Ensures a Wish that comes true and helps scout
    • Seismic Toss: Constant source of damage
    • Ice Beam: To hit ghosts. :)
  • Description: Blissey is my special wall. I guess. There's nothing much to explain here. It's too fat to die.

heracross.png

  • Heracross: Amethyst
  • Ability: Guts
  • Item: Choice Band
  • EVs: 252 Atk/100 HP/156 Spe
  • Nature: Adamant (+ Atk, -SpA)
  • Moveset:
    • Megahorn: STAB move. Hits things hard.
    • Close Combat: My 100% Bliss kill. If not for him, blissey would walk all over this team
    • Stone Edge: Kills flying types that wall CC.
    • Pursuit: To hit fleeing blisseys and stuff. :)
  • Description: Heracross is my only hard hitter on this team, and he kills what the others can't. Special walls. I usually let spikers lay their toxic spikes to allow a guts boosted attack to sweep.

empoleon.png

  • Empoleon: Sapphire
  • Ability: Torrent
  • Item: Petaya Berry
  • EVs: 252 SpA/220 Spe/36 HP
  • Nature: Modest (+ SpA, -Atk)
  • Moveset:
    • Agility: To outspeed stuff after Substitute is set up
    • Substitute: This is to reduce hp to activate torrent and petaya berry.
    • Hydro Pump: I chose this as it hit harder than surf. With Petaya berry and torrent boosts, not much can stand up to it.
    • Hidden Power [Electric]: This is to kill of vaporeon who absorbs my Hydro pump.
  • Description: Empoleon is my late game sweeper and with the subpetaya strategy and agility boost, it kills with its blasts of water.

Flygon.png

  • Flygon: Emerald
  • Ability: Levitate
  • Item: Choice Scarf
  • EVs: 252 Atk/140 Spe/116 SpA
  • Nature: Naughty (+ Atk, SpD)
  • Moveset:
    • Outrage: One of the gifts Flygon uses well from Plat. It hits pretty hard.
    • Earthquake: A good ground attack which my team lacks.
    • U-Turn: It scouts for random pokemon, while giving a light hit.
    • Fire Blast: To hit steels.
  • Description: Flygon is one of my pokemon which takes the earthquakes directed at my Empoleon and Heatran along with Zapdos. It also hits hard but not as hard as the CB Flygon. I am thinking of replacing him with a Dragonite/Salamence for more power.

Best line ever. :P

If a Swords Dance 'cario gets a chance to set up, it will be able to rip through most of your team with little trouble, though whether it hits Zapdos or Flygon hard enough to KO depends on whether it carries Stone Edge or Ice Punch respectively (bear in mind that Ice Punch has the ability to OHKO Zapdos more than half the time, and will always KO with Stealth Rock damage beforehand).
I'd suggest putting a Scarf on Hera for this, but at +2 attack he still is risk of being OHKO'd by Extremespeed.

You should also be careful with Infernape, as he'll also score super effective hits on most of your team, unless you can set up with Empoleon beforehand.

MixMence needs some special care as well, though these last two could be fixed to some extent by putting the Scarf on Heracross like I said before.

Looks good otherwise to me. :]

Dragon Dance Salamence is faster then your whole team and kos OHKOs everything in your team.
Another thing in don't like in this team, is that Flygon is you only fast Pokemon and your team isn't bulky enough to survive a long time against physical hardhitters, so Flygon has to revengekill almost everything, what won't work a long time. So if Flyon dies Lucario, DD Gyarados and Plotting Infernape run over this team.
Giving Heatran a scarf and replace Flygon with a Thunderwave Celebi would make your team a lot saver against Gyarados, Lucario and Salamence. But against Infernape you still have to rely on revengekill and the right predictions to bring Zapdos into the right moves, but Celebi could cripple him, when Infernape tries to switch in against Celebi

Empoleon also learns Grass Knot as an option to hit Bulky Waters in general, not just Vaporeon.

If your Heatran works similar at all to BaitTran, then you should be able to take out those Bulky waters anyways and then you can use Ice Beam on Vaporeon.

Despite this, Flygon has been able to kO many a lucario, it is afterall a revenge killer in a way. So I don't see how an Ice punch can come faster than Flygon unless it was scarf-ed. Gyarados hasn't posed a problem to me before. Zapdos always seems to survive it's SE's and kill it

But it does seem like I've got a Menceweak. I've been thinking of taking away blissey to deal with Luke, Mence and Nape. How well does Hariyama do against these? I know it's bulky, but I've never tried it out that well.

I'll test Hariyama. Any other suggestions?

hariyama can't wall salamence
I know that Flygon can revenge kill very much, but with twcelebi and heatran as revengekiller your team doesn't have to rely on flygon that much, because celebi cripples gyarados, salamnce and lucario.
LO Gyarados always ohkos your zapdos...

I assume the plan is to set up Empoleon to sweep by pummeling things with your other mons. Baitran used to take out Blissey etc... It looks very well put together and looks like it can work well. As you have seen perhaps DD Mence can set up on, Heracross, Blissey and Empoleon, Flygon Stuck on the wrong move can also be an issue, so maybe you might find Weavile > Heracross as a Choice Bander, obviously this represents a large downscaling of power, so you might want to try something like Life Orb Mamo or even CB Mamo instead. Perhaps Thunder Wave on Blissey as well. That will stop Gyarados / Mence from setting up on her. Seisminc toss isn't that useful so you could replace it with flamethrower or Fire Blast.

If you don't like Thunder Wave on Two pokemon you could always put Heat Wave or even Toxic on Zapdos. Allowing you to stall a little more with it or allowing you to hit steel types harder, especially that Scizor as once Baitran is gone you may find you have a few issues with it. So it will act as a back up. A smal shuffle of moves like that may well help you out. If you are still having DD Mence issues run Porygon 2 > Zapdos with Toxic to hit Swampert. This will counter Mence / Gyarados more effectivley, but will leave you more open to fighting types.
