Alright, so after some time testing to see what works and what doesn't work in Gen V. I made some changes to my team that I made a while back, and I figured I would post it on the RMT forums.

Team Building Process
I first wanted to start with a Trick Uxie. It’s a new idea that I’ve seen this gen, so I wanted to use it.
Then, having an idea for a bulky sweeper team, I decided to go with Conkeldurr and Volcarona as sweepers.
I used Ferrothorn to lay down spikes, Dragonite to shuffle while dealing out status, and Starmie to get rid of SR/Spikes for Volcarona.
Starmie wasn’t really fulfilling his role too well, so I replaced him with Forretress. Since Forretress can also lay down Spikes AND Toxic Spikes AND Rapid Spin as well, I took out Ferrothorn and put in Eviolite Dusclops as a spin blocker.
I really didn’t like Conkeldurr’s set up, so I switched him with Scrafty, an equally bulky sweeper that gets Dragon Dance.

FINAL TEAM

The Team: First Glance

Team: In-Depth
Uxie @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 152 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Trick
- U-turn
- Psychic
Basically, this is my lead for those who don’t expect it. Speed EVs make sure that it outspeeds base 130s and gets a Trick in, in which it can safely set up Stealth Rock. Uxie can also survive Crunches and Dark Pulses due to its natural bulk. All in all, this is a great lead, and it’s been on my team ever since I started Gen V.
Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Revenge
Dual Spiker as well as a Rapid Spinner. Revenge is there for those who aren’t expecting it, for example TTar. TTar can shoot off Fire Blast, but since Forretress has Sturdy (*cough*Ferrothorn*cough*) it’s guaranteed to live, and fire off a Revenge for (hopefully) a OHKO. It requires some prediction though.
Dragonite (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 244 HP / 252 SDef / 12 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Thunder Wave
- Dragon Tail
- Roost
- Substitute
Parashuffling set to weaken the opposing team with SR, Spikes and Toxic Spikes, while also paralyzing Flying types and Levitate users. Not much to say here, except that this thing can get pretty annoying.
Scrafty (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Ice Punch
- Crunch
- Dragon Dance
- Hi Jump Kick
A very good sweeper. 65/115/115 defenses are above average, and he also gets access to Dragon Dance, AND good physical movepool. Moveset allows for good coverage, and his Attack goes up to insane levels due to Moxie. It often gets outsped by known sweepers such as Blaziken or Excadrill in SS, due to Scrafty’s mediocre speed, even after a Dragon Dance. Still, Scrafty has earned a place in my team for being able to sweep entire teams.
Dusclops (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 208 HP / 48 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Night Shade
Very bulky ghost, and can block Rapid Spinners with ease, so I don’t lose those precious entry hazards. Can also deal out status with Will-O-Wisp, and can Taunt set-up sweepers with accurate prediction.
Volcarona (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 216 HP / 40 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Fiery Dance
- Hidden Power [Rock]
Volcarona, one of the most dangerous late-game sweepers I’ve seen. After one Quiver Dance, the game is pretty much over. Bug Buzz deals with Latios/Latias, and also hits Reuniclus. Fiery Dance gives a useful +1 in Sp. Atk, while hitting Excadrill, Ferrothorn, and Whimsicott. HP [Rock] is for hitting other Volcaronas and dealing some damage to Flying types such as the genies or Flying Dragons.
