I've been trying for a long while since DP came out to get into the competitive atmosphere of Pokémon, but I've been on my own for a long while. Then I saw one Pokémon site after another, team after team, and I've watched videos, too. Not that I'm obsessed! I'm just saying, is all. So, I've decided I like using UU in OU, only because of the surprise and originality factor. I mean, I like Blissey and Gyarados and all, but so does he. And her over there. And him...right over there. And that guy next to the wall. And his friend. And that lady with the dog. Et cetera, etc. So, I figure my main strategy be standard roles with good Resistance/Immunity coverage!
My team at a glance:
Sharpedo (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
Nature: Lonely
EVs: 172 Atk / 162 SA / 176 Spd
~ Crunch
~ Hydro Pump
~ Earthquake
~ Ice Beam
Sharpedo is my lead, and a decent one. He hits a lot of threats super effectively and is later saved as a revenge killer. Toxicroak's quadruple Psychic weakness makes it easy to abuse Sharpedo's Psychic immunity.
Swellow (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Guts
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk / 6 SD / 252 Spd
~ Brave Bird
~ Facade
~ U-turn
~ Pursuit
Swellow is my main status absorber. She's fast and when she takes a status, she's firing off powerful Facades. Brave Bird is the reliable STAB, though, if she doesn't get statused. U-turn is for scouting, and Pursuit for possible fleeing Ghosts (like switching in on a ScarfGar Shadow Ball). Though, I'm considering Quick Attack over it.
Toxicroak (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk / 6 Def / 252 Spd
~ Swords Dance
~ Cross Chop
~ Stone Edge
~ Sucker Punch
Toxicroak is my late game sweep, physical style. He can take Toxics, too, and is a good switch in on bulky waters. They'll more often than not switch and give me a chance to use SD and sweep.
Hypno (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Insomnia
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP / 58 Def / 200 Spd
~ Reflect
~ Wish
~ Thunder Wave
~ Psychic
Hypno is my special wall, I replaced Lanturn with him. Lanturn had more coverage and hit harder, but Hypno blocks sleep, heals itself and others in my numerous switches, sets up Reflect to lessen the blows, and uses Thunder Wave as well as Lanturn did.
Steelix (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP / 122 Atk / 136 SD
~ Stealth Rock
~ Toxic
~ Earthquake
~ Explosion
Steelix replaced what was formerly Shuckle. He's my physical wall. Stealth Rock will help pile on damage with the switches I plan to cause, and also makes up for the weaker blows of my UU against the OU, so. He also absorbs Thunder Wave a Electric attacks in general. Anyway, Toxic stall, obligatory Earthquake STAB that also clears away the resisters of Toxic, and Explosion to go out with a bang. *shot*
Ninetales (F) @ Wide Lens
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Timid
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SA / 252 Spd
~ Hypnosis
~ Nasty Plot
~ Fire Blast
~ Energy Ball
My special sweeper and sleeper. Ninetale's can be powered up, too, by absorbing Will-O-Wisp or Fire attacks in general thanks to the opponent's need to abuse Steelix's and Toxicroak's Fire weaknesses. I'm a little iffy about the coverage, though.
So, hopefully I've made clear why each Pokémon belongs on my team. I know this is kinda hypocritical, since these are all the OU of UU, but. OU and UU are played differently, so I just chose the most OU-orriented UU Pokémon. And then there's the whole anti-OU sentiment. I hope I'm not annoying for using UU, but. I just like standing out more than winning. Don't get me wrong, though, I will lose because, hello. UU. But I plan to win! So, anyway. For those that post, I do tend to follow my own corruption of the Item Clause (which is the Item Clause except allowing doubling up of healing items like Lum Berries or Leftovers), so keep that in mind. >.> Thanks for your rates and comments! ^-^
