RMT: VGC 2010

Hi there,

so VGC is in two weeks for me and i need some/much help.

I am not that much into the whole double battle thing, though got interested in the VGC, lurked a bit here on the forums and saw a team that i liked in a video and wanted to try it, but i am not sure on the EVs and attacks (couldn't see EVs in the Video and also not all Attacks), and could need some help on them.
Every advice is welcome!

Toxicroak @ Black Sludge
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Speed
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/-SpA)
- Fake Out
- Sucker Punch
- Low Kick
- Protect

On this one I am pretty sure.
Fake Out is just Fake Out, messing up opponents setting up and such.
Sucker Punch is good priority that should do much damage on all the psychic and ghost types going around and decent damage one other pokes.
Low Kick has stab and kills all the heavy guys.
No Speed EVs cause he has already 3 priority attacks, and more HP together with Dry Skin and Black Sludge recovery make him last longer. Protect also helps with this cause it gives Toxicroak a free turn of recovery.

Giratina-A @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Speed
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/-SpA)
- Shadow Force
- Dragon Claw
- Substitute
- Thunder Wave

Giratina stalls alot with Substitute, Shadow Force and Leftovers. Thunder Wave adds more free turns.
Dragon Claw is there to kill other dragons and cause Shadow Force has low PP, it also makes it able for Giratina to hit Normal-types.

I am not sure on it's EVs though... Giratina-A already has good base HP and Defenses, but should i take EVs from speed or attack to give it more HP?
With it's current speed though it's a lil bit faster than Smeargles that could Dark Void if Giratina wouldn't sub first.
On the other Hand if it managed to Thunder Wave an opponent it should be faster than him, even without Speed EVs.

Kyogre @ Wacan Berry
Ability: Drizzle
EVs:
4 HP/252 SpA/252 Speed
Nature:
Modest (+SpA/-Atk)
- Water Spout
- Ice Beam
- Thunder
- Protect

Not much to say i think.
Water Spout deals should deal tons of damage, though I am not sure if i should switch it for Surf. (recovery for Toxicroak)
Ice Beam (don't like the accuracy of Blizzard if it's not in hail) mainly against dragons and Thunder with 100% accuracy to kill other water types.
Protect is just the plain old goodness.

Snorlax @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Def/4 SpD
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/-SpA)
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Selfdestruct
- Protect

This one gives me the most worries... I am just not sure about most of the moves, the EVs and the Item.
It has good synergy though, it can absorb ghost attacks that could be aimed at Giratina, and resists fire and ice attacks, wich Toxicroak and Giratina also fear.

Mainly it should just selfdestruct, while my other pokemon protects or is immune, but it can also attack both opponents with Earthquake (while his buddy is protecting) or Rock Slide.
It should also give Trick Room teams some trouble with its low low speed and the 30% flinch chance of Rock Slide.

For the EVs i thought to push its low physical defense, cause his HP and special defense are high enough i think, but correct me if I am wrong and there is an better EV-spread.
Life Orb is simply to do more damage, and guarantee KOs with selfdestruct.

My changes and thoughts bolded. I'm not sure what to suggest for the Snorlax, so I'll leave that alone. Looks pretty good right now though.

Looks pretty standard. I'd have to do some damage calcs, but I'm not entirely sure that Low Kick OHKO's Dialga without Life Orb.

In general, stall doesn't work in the VGC. You pretty much don't have time to set up. Gira's immune to normal moves, obviously, but if you run into a Trick Room team, Protect buys you time to stall it out. Griseous Orb gives Gira better offensive stats and also a 20% boost to Ghost and Dragon attacks. Two Ghost attacks might seem redundant, but both serve a purpose.

Standard VGC Ogre, and a set I have personally found VERY effective. Surf or Muddy Water is up to you - Muddy Water is 85% Accuracy (with a 10% chance to drop your opponent's accuracy), and only hits your opponent. Since you have Toxicroak, I'd go with Surf. I really don't like Water Spout, since you can use it maybe once before it's rendered useless.

Surf over Water Spout on Kyogre, you have the resistances and immunty from Kyogre's teammates to make it viable. For Snorlax 252Atk/252SpDef/4 (HP or Def) is the best EV spread, as Special Attacks are common in VGC. Not a major thing, but if you can a Brave Nature on Snorlax would make him more useful in Trick Room, however as Selfdestruct Snorlax is hard to get, so dont worry if you arent able to.

Apart from that Standard stuff.

Ok, thanks guys.

I am defenitley changing Snorlax' nature and EVs, he won't outspeed anything anyway if not in trickroom, so Adamant or Brave doesn't really make a difference I guess.
And don't worry, I already got a selfdestructing Munchlax on my pokewalker. :)

Also i am going for Surf on Kyogre i think.

I think about giving Giratina Will-o-Wisp instead of Thunderwave, so i don't have to worry much about physical attacks, or do you think Thunder Wave would be better?
I think a set with substitute and leftovers for Giratina is viable, I have seen it in a few videos now and have seen similar things for other Pokémon now.
But I am changing Giratinas EVs and nature to give it a bit more speed.

Thunderwave is better. Your team is pretty slow so it would need that move. There aren't as many physical attackers as special attackers so most of the time, will-o-wisp would be useless. Ho-oh might be a probelm for toxicroak though, but you can switch kyogre out.

Thanks for your opinion, I am still not sure however. It's true that there are much more special attackers, but there are also some very strong physical attacker. (Groudon, Ho-Oh, Chomp, Heracross, Toxicroak, Snorlax, Weavile, etc.)

Also i think i am going for Return insted of Rockslide on Snorlax. Cause it has much higher basepower and gets stab.
