VGC RMT VGC Reg H!

Hey guys, this team has been working for me for the most part but I think it needs a few tweaks, any thoughts/advice would be appreciated! This team got me into master rank, but it's hit or miss against a lot of other teams.

Torkoal @ Charcoal
Ability: Drought
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Protect
- Clear Smog
- Flamethrower
- Eruption

Fairly standard Torkaol, the idea is to get it going in Trick Room and spam eruption. Flamethrower as a backup or to get around wide guard, clear smog to get rid of any stat buffs from the opponent.

Exeggutor-Alola (F) @ Haban Berry
Ability: Harvest
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 148 HP / 180 Def / 180 SpD
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Skill Swap
- Sunny Day
- Breaking Swipe

Suprisingly doing well for me. Its my primary trick room setter and can take tons of hits. Haban berry to weaken any super effective dragon type attacks. Skill swap is fun, I can skill swap with snorlax to give snorlax harvest to regen sitrus berries, and then exeggutor gets thick fat to resist fire/ice that would normally be super effective. Sunny Day helps keep the sun out incase of pelliper/politoed and torkoal cant switch in, but I've considered giving it synthesis instead. Also gave breaking swipe to do spread damage/lower attack for support, but draco meteor can also hit pretty hard too so I've thought about using that. Tera fairy to resist any dragon moves.

Lewenmeir (Snorlax) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Thick Fat
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 164 HP / 76 Atk / 236 Def / 28 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Belly Drum
- Body Slam
- High Horsepower
- Protect

Protect to let trick room get up/stall something out, belly drum for boosting attack, body slam for massive damage, and ground to hit things that resist normal like steel. I've considered hammer arm but then I'm screwed if a ghost type comes out, and I've also considered crunch, but then I cant hit steel types. Tera ghost to stop fake out/avoid fighting type attacks

Rillaboom (M) @ Clear Amulet
Ability: Grassy Surge
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Knock Off
- Grassy Glide
- Wood Hammer

Rillaboom helps get grassy terrain up to keep snorlax and torkoal healthy. Fake out support, knock off, grassy glide and wood hammer all deal big damage. Tera fire for defense, gave it a clear amulet but thinking of switching it for assault vest.

Pipi (Clefable) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Follow Me
- Life Dew
- Encore
- Draining Kiss

Support mon, Follow me to help get trick room up, allow torkoal/snorlax to deal damage, life dew for recovory, encore to troll, and draining kiss to recover HP. Rocky helmet to wear down physical attackers like anniahlape, and unaware lets it stand up to dondozo

Farigiraf @ Throat Spray
Ability: Armor Tail
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 108 HP / 44 Def / 156 SpA / 196 SpD
Serious Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hyper Voice
- Psychic

Honestly I'm not loving farigaraf on this team, it's a solid back up trick room setter, but it's not giving me the oomph I need. Thinking of replacing with something like brozong, as I want something else that can set trick room but also be an attacker.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Ok, now we'll rate it. It just feels like a Psyspam team without the Psyspam. It seems like a Sunspam team without the spam. You get it. I'll try not to turn it into Psyspam though.
Weaknesses:

:typhlosion-hisui:
You literally get fucked by this rodent. Eruption is free, and with a partner like Tauros-Aqua or Ursaluna-BM, your Tera Fire Rillaboom or Torkoal get cooked. Literally. By a Eruption. I'll have ways to fix this though.

EVs
To be honest, a lot of people on here really want to get good EVs. But hey, we're here for that!

Pokemon Changes

:exeggutor-alola: --> :hydreigon:
Resists both of Typhlosion-Hisui's STABs (imma call it Hyphlosion). Also just nukes a bunch of stuff. I suggest a Focus Energy set with Heat Wave over Dark Pulse to better abuse the Sun. Then you can run Tera Fire as well (I'll leave the set in the paste).

:snorlax: --> :ursaluna:
Ursaluna does more damage. Plain and simple. I don't think Snorlax is good right now. Judging from your profile you really like it, but I don't think this is the team for it.

:clefable: --> :clefairy:
Clefable just feels random tbh. I suggest going with the rather bulkier option and one with Friend Guard, which is Clefairy.

Other Changes

:torkoal:
New Nature
I suggest running Quiet Nature since this is a TR team. Only reason to keep Clear Smog here is due to the removal of Clefable. You can keep Clefable and run Earth Power over that though.

:rillaboom:
:clear amulet: --> :assault vest:
Knock Off --> U-turn
EVs: 252 HP / 132 Atk / 4 Def / hit 115 speed and rest in SpDef
Basic changes, Knock Off is stupid with Hydreigon on the squad. Assault Vest turns you into a good Psyspam check, and U-turn helps contribute to that, while providing a potential pivot+TR setter lead situation.

:farigiraf:
Serious --> Modest
Dazzling Gleam --> Helping Hand
Basic changes yet again. Paste time!

You can actually use Sinistcha over Rillaboom/Clefairy here!

As always, good luck and happy battling.

Being a TR team, I would leave Clefairy over a switch to Clefable. I find it more useful with Friend Guard to give better support. The set that you have been put is very good. As an option, you could add Tera Type Grass for Spore Amoonguss and Discharge / Electro Drift from Miraidon. Sing could be another good alternative for the bulky support set--> Sing/Helping Hand/Follow Me/Protect.

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Level: 50
Ability: Friend Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 116 SpD
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
Tera Type: Grass
Sassy Nature
- Sing / Heal Pulse
- Helping Hand
- Follow Me
- Protect

My VGC knowledge is scarce, but I'll try to be able to still help. Well, I think adding Incineroar here might be ok. He has good synergy with Rilla and overall fits well in a TR based team. Especially with the help of Fake Out. If you want, you can also try 'Taunt', I think it would be very useful. Here I leave the set:
727.png

Incineroar @ Safety Goggles / Sitrus Berry
Level: 50
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 140 Def / 76 SpD / 36 Spe
Tera Type: Ghost / Water / Grass / Fairy
Careful Nature
- Fake Out
- Flare Blitz
- Parting Shot / Taunt
- Knock Off

With Safety Goggles, for example, you are immune to Amoonguss' Spore... On the other hand, with Sitrus Berry, you can fit 2 Moonblast from Specs Flutter Mane and Surging Strikes from Urshifu-R.

Finally, I will leave as an option the Ursaluna-Bloodmoon TR set, I think it takes better advantage of the strategy and you can hit just as hard, especially with LO support and its high special attack. I insist, I only leave it as an isolated option, since Ursaluna complies quite well and has good synergy with Rilla+Farigiraf as well.

901-b.png

Ursaluna-Bloodmoon @ Life Orb
Level: 50
Ability: Mind's Eye
EVs: 252 HP / 196 SpA / 60 SpD
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
Tera Type: Normal / Fairy / Ghost
Quiet Nature
- Blood Moon
- Earth Power
- Hyper Voice
- Protect

I think this is all. Oh, and welcome to Smogon. I hope you enjoy a lot here and playing.

Reg h is no legends, box or even minor, and no paradox.

A few things on this:
Tera Fairy/Ghost on Ursaluna-BM and Tera Fairy on Incineroar aren’t considered good.

as omastar68 said, no legendaries in regulation h, so a lot of your examples get invalidated.

you didn’t actually show the replacements either, which can turn these choices into being a lot harder than they need to be.

just some constructive criticism

Just something from me, but I don’t think you provided enough evidence of team synergy

I have played absolutely no VGC in my life, so I was unaware of that.

Well, nothing, partner, if you say it will be true. Your arguments are the only valid ones.
