Balanced OU Team
Hi, so my name is Steve093. This is my first post on Smogon forums, and I am new to this. As the title suggests, this is my OU Gen V team that I'm running, and I'd like suggestions on how to improve it.

Looking Further In

Mienshao (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- Hi Jump Kick
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
My lead. Start off with Fake Out, then apply the appropriate move depending on the opponent's Pokemon. Eventually I just U-Turn to abuse Regenerator. Mienshao also completes the role of the revenge killer I need. Classic Mienshao.

Gengar (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Disable
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
I love this guy. He takes on 3 roles at once - A Ground-Type move sponger, a sweeper, and an annoyer. He switches in on something that will probably switch or is slower than him, and from there either Substitutes or Disables. Disable, with 100 accuracy, can potentially remove a key move from their movepool, and Substitute is there in case they switch to a counter. His stellar offenses and speed help too, but sadly Focus Blast is inconsistent and he's so frail he usually can't stand one neutral attack.

Espeon (M) @ Light Clay
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Psychic
Once again, it's a bandwagoned set. So obviously, I switch this in on anything which I assume will (a.) set up entry hazards and (b.) will attempt to cripple my team with status, Taunt, Encore, etc. It completely counters Ferrothorn, Whimsicott, Blissey, and a large amount of other pokemon, and generally will keep off residual damage aside from sandstorm. Reflect and Light screen are amazing support - they allow my pokemon to sweep with much less worry. Psychic and Hidden Power Fighting do large damage - 130 Sp. Atk is nothing to laugh at.

Salamence (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Roost
Salamence is probably one of my main sweepers. With his Dragon typing, he has a plethora of resistances to switch into. He can then set up with Dragon Dance, and from there becomes unstoppable with a +1 Life Orb STAB Outrage from base 135 Attack. Intimidate further makes him bulkier, allowing him to set up Dragon Dance with much greater ease. Salamence, Jirachi, and Gengar form a very nice defensive core - Salamence and Jirachi have no weaknesses when paired together, and Gengar can use Disable to stop powerful moves in their tracks.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Thunder Wave
- Wish
- Fire Punch
My wall, along with my main annoyer. I thought about using Porygon2 / Dusclops/ Chansey with Eviolite, but I decided on this instead. With only two weaknesses (albeit rather common weaknesses), Jirachi is a perfect wall. Serene Grace is abused by Iron Head of course. Originally, I intended to use Body Slam over Thunder Wave, but I decided against it. Wish can heal your other pokemon or Jirachi herself, and Fire Punch is to deal with pokemon like Scizor that Iron Head cannot defeat. Jirachi often lures out Fire and Ground type pokemon that Salamence can switch into and set up on.

Cloyster (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Skill Link
EVs: 48 HP / 252 Atk / 208 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Shell Smash
- Razor Shell
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
Another sweeper. Switch into something physical, then set up with Shell Smash. I usually use Espeon to set up defenses before I switch in - Cloyster becomes incredibly difficult to faint. After Shell Smash is set up, I'm free to sweep.

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED:
Gyarados: With the only weakness being electric, which I sadly do not have, combined with Intimidate and respectable defenses and stellar attack, it walls my team almost completely. Gyarados can sweep half my team after a single Dragon Dance.
Conkeldurr: With a powerful priority, decent bulk, an ability that makes it so crippling Conkeldurr is suicide, and 140 base attack, Conkeldurr can potentially smash through every one of my pokemon. I can switch in Gengar on a predicted Mach / Drain Punch, but even so, I cannot OHKO it with a Shadow Ball, and it can OHKO me with a Payback.
Gliscor: Gliscor can come in on most of my pokemon and set up on me. Generally Cloyster can easily kill it with an Icicle Spear, but it is still a big threat to look out for.
Zapdos: Zapdos is extremely hard to kill, and it can OHKO Cloyster, which is my only counter to it with Rock Blast / Icicle Spear, with a single Thunderbolt.
Starmie: It's slightly faster than all my pokemon and has amazing type coverage. It can OHKO Salamence with Ice Beam and Cloyster with Thunderbolt, which are my two main sweepers.
Thundurus: Same as Zapdos, but less bulky. Can set up on me with ease due to Prankster.
Every Bulky Water: I have nothing super effective against it. That's all. Setting up on them with Salamence is usually my best bet, but if they carry Ice Beam I'm.... switching to Jirachi.
