This is my third RMT and I've finally done away with field effects as my way of keeping momentum. Whole idea of this team is to soften up my opponents while scouting their team and messing up their strategy when ever possible, and finally finishing with Metagross and Infernape. This team is fun because it comes off very defensively orientated until Metagross comes come with Agility.

I don't have an exact record but I win a vast majority of my matches and after tweaking the EV's I feel like this team is ready for a RMT.

The Making of the Team...

dpmfa235.png

I wanted to use an Anti-Lead Smeargle, I love how he can mess things up right off the bat for my opponents.

dpmfa235.png
dpmfa260.png

I knew Swampert would find a home on my team acting as my second lead. Coming in after their lead has been put to sleep or Tricked he doesn't have to deal with Taunts and faster leads messing him up.

I wanted a Rapid Spinner with some bulk, Donphan! I love this guy but he never really meshed well with my other teams.

Now I wanted someone who had some defense on the special side but who wasn't a wet paper bag on the physical side, I decided on Zapdos.

By this time my team looked really bulky, so I wanted a sweeper that looked bulky but could come in and trashed their already beat-up team. Metagross fit the bill with his great defense stat next to his great attack and access to Agility to make up for his speed.

At this point all I wanted was a special based clean up sweeper that could take out Blissy if need by, Infernape seemed like the only choice.

smeargle.png

The Anti-Lead
Smeargle (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Switcheroo
- Spore
- U-turn
- Toxic Spikes

Ahh Smeargle, this is my favorite way to start a battle ever. I Spore faster leads and I Trick bulkier leads that often carry Lum Berry and if I can't touch them at all I just get the hell out of there and let Swampert handle it. I gave him max HP because he's not meant to do damage and he always survives Ninjasks X-Scissor. The beauty of this Smeargle is that once I switch him out people forget about him but he almost always comes back Switcheroo an opposing Poke and/or get Toxic Spikes up.

I don't use Explosion because I like Toxic Spikes and U-Turn is a good way of breaking Sashes

If Smeargle survives somehow after getting T-Spikes up and sporing as much as possible he makes a good disposable poke.

The Lead?
Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP/204 Def/4 Spd/52 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam

Swampert functions as a more traditional lead with one difference, he comes in on turn two. Smeargle always makes sure I get the jump on the start and it almost always goes my way, giving Swampert a free switch and the he can use his bulk to get SR up and Roar away. If a team isn't prepared for Swampert I often get a glimpse of their whole team. The EV's are to out speed other Swamperts and to take out Salamence while being as bulky as possible.

It is usually after Swampert dies where I send out Smeargle to get some T-Spikes up or I go to Donphan or Zapdos.

The Spinning Wall
Donphan(M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/52 Atk/172 Def/32 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Roar
- Rapid Spin

Donphan is really a great wall in OU as long as you keep him away from bulky waters. Donphan continues where Swampert left off and Roars to build up some damage. Ice Shard is for Dragons. The Speed EV's allow me to outpace 0 Speed EV Swamperts. 52 in Attack is just for extra damage.

Darkrai%20et%20Cresselia_html_60a5678b.png

Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP/96 Def/164 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Moonlight
- Thunder Wave
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot

Details will come after more testing. Used to be Zapdos.

metagross.png

The Sweeper
Metagross @ Lum Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 58 HP/252 Atk/198 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Agility
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Thunderpunch

I set this team up so Metagross could come in and sweep. With my whole team (besides Infernape but he's suppose to come in after) having no Ground/Fire weakness Meta easily can find a good spot to jump in, Agility and sweep away. EQ is for coverage, T-Punch for Gyra and Iron Head is for evrything in the middle. No Meteor Mash because I hate the accuracy and Iron Head has the flinch rate. With the Speed EV's I out run all neutral nature Base 100's while they have a Scarf (Flygon)
---
infernape.png

The Garbage Man
Infernape (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk/192 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Close Combat
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Infernape is only for clean up and luckily he's good at it. I don't know if I need NP but I like having it as an option. HP Ice is for Dragons who wanna come in on Fire Blast on Close Combat is for Blissy. I went with the Standard Smogon spread on this one because I can't really think of anything better.

Synergy
As far as Synergy goes the whole team is set up around AgiliGross there is no one on my team (Infernape doesn't count since he comes out after Gross) weak to Ground or Fire. Infernape can also come in if I see an Ice attack coming but I generally avoid doing this.

Changes will be in RED
Considering putting Ice Punch on Metagross and replacing Infernape.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Interesting team that looks like it's pretty effective, but there are a few changes you could make to help agiligross. Since you're using Toxic Spikes on Smeargle, I would suggest changing your Zapdos to use Substitute over HP Grass. This will help you wear down physical walls a lot faster, making it easier for Gross to sweep. If that option doens't appeal to you, then change Toxic Spikes to Spikes so you can get more out of your phazing.

Next, you really need a way to deal with Rotom-A, who can easily stop metagross. Donphan doens't appear to be doing anything for your team, as you really don't need another spinner/ bulky ground. I would suggest Choice Banded scizor. Scizor would really add a lot to your team, namely the ability to revenge kill a lot easier curtisy of Bullet Punch. It also would help you scout and force switches, which would let you really take advantage of your entry hazards.

My last issue with your team is a severe lack of speed. Gyarados with taunt is pretty much going to have it's way with your team, and that's never a good thing. I'd suggest adding in a scarf rotom-a over your zapdos, so that you can not only handle gyarados easier, but also Lucario. Trick will also really help against stall, which could give you some issues as it stands.

As for your Metagross set, stick to what you have. Ice Punch doesn't really add any important coverage, where as without Tpunch you can't hit bulky waters that resist your stab.

Good Luck!

I have some suggestions

I would get rid of Donphan for starmie because starmie is a much better rapid spinner due to the fact thar it can take special attacks pretty well.
Also starmie has better type coverage and can patch up that big gyrados weakness.

Also for infernape use grass knot to hit bulky waters like suicune hard.

I can see the specially based mixape giving you loads of trouble so why not ease the weakness with this pokemon

Latias @ leftovers
Timid 128hp 12spatk 252speed
Calm mind
dragon pulse
recover
refresh
This latias set is very defensive and is easily capable of dealing with the annoying ape, taking life orbed hp ices and and using calm mind to boost its good special attack and great special dfence.

Thats all fo now Good Luck :)

You also have an inability to switch into Gengar, seemingly as it 2HKO's mostly everything witht he help of SR. And it doesn't help that nothing on your team can outright outspeed it either.

You could always go to a highly special defensive Forretress over Donphan, who can still Rapid Spin and have great defense despite no investment. This also allows you the opportunity to add Spikes into the equation.

If you do proceed with this, I'd add Cresselia over Zapdos as well, as it stops Lucario as well, and it can actually stop DDMence/DDGyarados with Thunder Wave and Reflect. The screen will surely help the rest of the team, and now you have a semi decent switch in to Infernape as well

Thanks Aeroblacktyl I'll try the Cresselia over Zapdos for a while, i never liked how Donphan and Zapdos were weak to ice, and the moon duck seems like it would flow well with my team. I'm gonna try keeping Donphan though because I've never had good luck with Forretress and the elephant has been pretty reliable so far.

As far as the Gyrados weakness the way my team plays doesn't give him a chance to set up because Donphan and Swampert Roar and no Gyra wants to take a STAB T-Bolt from Zapdos. +2 Metagross out speeds a +1 Gyra and OHKO's with Thunder Punch.

Ideally Gyra won't be able to come in at full health since I abuse SR like it's going out of style.

One of the bigger Problems for my team is a Scarfed Flygon (my Metagross can't outspeed a Jolly one) who can come in and score a super-effective hit on Meta, Infernape, and Zapdos/Cresselia. The only way I can beat it is a flicHAX or a good prediction.

Flygon is why I ditched Grass Knot for HP Ice.

Thanx for the advice.
