[SET COMMENTS]
With Choice Specs, Rotom becomes a powerful yet prediction-reliant wallbreaker able to seriously damage most Pokemon in the tier and use Trick to cripple the few walls that can reliably take its attacks. Volt Switch lets Rotom gain momentum; the Ground-types that can block it are scared by the possibility of switching into a Choice Specs-boosted Shadow Ball. It also makes up for Rotom's inability to seriously damage Snorlax and Drampa by allowing Rotom to bring in a teammate that threatens them as they switch in. Trick lets Rotom cripple defensive Pokemon, particularly those that have recovery moves and would otherwise be able to switch into Rotom's attacks all game, such as Snorlax and Aromatisse. In the fourth moveslot, Thunderbolt gives Rotom a more powerful Electric-type STAB attack that does not force it to switch out. Will-O-Wisp and Nasty Plot let Rotom greatly cripple or damage the opposing team, but they are not useful unless Rotom gets rid of its item. A Timid nature is chosen to outspeed many relevant unboosted Pokemon, such as Vanilluxe, Gallade, and Toxicroak.

Rotom appreciates teammates that can switch into Knock Off and Dark-types in general, so it partners very well with Silvally formes, particularly Silvally-Fairy, and Fighting-types like Bewear and Virizion. It also benefits from being part of a VoltTurn core that builds momentum, so Choice Scarf Passimian and Rillaboom are also good teammates. Pokemon that can switch into Ground-types like Rhydon and Steelix are helpful in case Rotom predicts incorrectly and locks into an Electric-type move against a Ground type. Mudsdale and Vaporeon are bulky options for this role, easily tanking Stone Edges aimed at Rotom; although it is physically frailer, Virizion can also switch in and apply offensive pressure with its powerful STAB attacks. Swords Dance Bewear and Rhydon can easily handle Snorlax, which does not fear any of Rotom's attacks and may set up on a Choice-locked Rotom with Curse. Rotom is able to cripple Snorlax with Trick, but that relies on predicting the opponent's switch correctly, so additional support is helpful.

A Choice Scarf enables Rotom to outspeed nearly all of the relevant threats in the RarelyUsed metagame, although it is extremely weak without a boosting item. Volt Switch lets Rotom KO weakened targets and switch out to preserve momentum against Pokemon that can wall it or set up on it, such as Snorlax, Drampa, and Calm Mind Virizion. Trick is necessary for Choice Scarf Rotom to do anything against defensive teams, whose defensive staples like Snorlax, Aromatisse, and Steelix take pitiful damage from its unboosted attacks. Thunderbolt is stronger than Volt Switch and Shadow Ball, and running it makes Rotom better against offensive teams and at revenge killing. Without it, Rotom cannot OHKO Charizard or 2HKO Indeedee, though, if using Thunderbolt, those KOs are still rolls without prior damage. Rotom can further improve its performance against defensive teams by running Nasty Plot instead of Thunderbolt; at +2, Rotom is able to do impressive damage to targets such as Steelix with Shadow Ball, although it is still forced to pivot away from Snorlax. However, removing Thunderbolt makes Rotom less capable against offensive teams. A Timid nature is necessary to outspeed two of the most common Choice Scarf users in RU, Rillaboom and Passimian, which is valuable even though Rotom cannot do much damage to them.

Rotom works well as a part of VoltTurn cores, and running a Choice Scarf on Rotom lets Rotom's teammates run Attack-boosting items. Teammates such as Choice Band Passimian and Choice Band Rillaboom appreciate no longer needing to use a Choice Scarf; in return, Rotom benefits from their ability to accumulate chip damage with their powerful attacks. Due to Rotom's need for the opposing team to be weakened, Stealth Rock users such as Steelix, Rhydon, and Mudsdale make great teammates; although rarer, Spikes Qwilfish can also provide valuable support. Rotom's low damage output means that its teammates must be able to break through defensive cores, and Swords Dance Virizion, Salazzle, and Swords Dance Bewear all accomplish this; by using Trick, Rotom can create setup opportunities for them. Silvally formes also partner well with Rotom; Knock Off is often used to KO Rotom, and Silvally formes are able to switch into Knock Off because it has only 65 Base Power against them. More defensive Silvally can form VoltTurn cores with Rotom, while Swords Dance versions can set up on a Passimian or Rillaboom when it's locked into Knock Off.

-choice specs
  • remove shadow ball description in first paragraph
  • remove volt switch description in first paragraph
  • "The fourth moveslot has more options." you're about to list them, unnecessary
  • "If the opposing team has a Ground type and a Normal type and you predict wrong, you may be locked into a move that the other Pokemon is immune to, giving them a free turn." unnecessary, remove this
  • add add in something about drampa because it more or less completely blanks this bitch
-choice scarf
  • remove volt switch description in first paragraph
  • remove the last sentence of the first paragraph
  • mention drampa here too

With Choice Specs, Rotom becomes a powerful yet prediction-reliant wallbreaker able to seriously damage most Pokemon in the tier and use Trick to cripple the few walls that can reliably take its attacks. Shadow Ball is a powerful STAB attack that can hit most of the tier at least neutrally due to RU's relative lack of Dark-types.
