- Will-O-Wisp / Thunder Wave
[SET COMMENTS]
Rotom-W, with its excellent defensive typing, further bolstered by its ability Levitate makes it a fantastic defensive pivot. Volt Switch allows it do decent damage to enemies like Serperior while switching out. Rotom-W is also a great status spreader, having access to Will-O-Wisp to weaken Physical attackers like Weavile and Dragonite, and Thunder Wave to slow down opposing Pokemon like Dragapult and Iron Valiant. Pain Split is its main way of healing off damage taken, and it works well with Rotom-W's low HP stat versus targets like Blissey. It's EVs can be changed to either be Physically Defensive to face physical attackers like Great Tusk and Kingambit more, or Specially Defensive to face special attackers like Iron Moth and Enamorus-I. 12 Speed EVs are used to outspeed uninvested Great Tusk. Tera Steel turns its only weakness, Grass, into a resist, which is helpful versus the likes of Rillaboom. It also gives it a Toxic immunity, making it more reliable versus Toxapex. Tera Fairy can also be used to give it a resistance to Fighting-moves from Gholdengo and Great Tusk, as well as Dark-type moves from Weavile and Kingambit.
Rotom-Wash is mainly good on balance structures due to its amazing defensive pivoting abilities, and combining it with another strong pivoter like Cinderace is also a good idea because Cinderace can also provide a switchin versus Grass-types like Serperior. Hazard setters like Skarmory or Ting-Lu are also a good thing to combine with pivot spam, as constantly forcing your opponent to switch out can make hazard damage add up over time. Gliscor is a great partner in particular, as it not only can set up hazards, but it can also use Knock Off, which is great because it removes Heavy-Duty Boots. Rotom-W has a bad matchup versus Raging Bolt, who also can shrug off any status conditions Rotom tries to throw, as well as Kyurem, who is threat with its strong Freeze Dry. Having a good answer to Dragon types such as Gholdengo For Kyurem and Ting-Lu for Raging Bolt will help Rotom out a lot. Rotom-W is also bad versus Grass-types, particularly Rillaboom and Ogerpon-W who can easily threaten it out, so having a switchin like Corviknight or Skarmory could help.
