XY RU RU Hazard Stack HO

Hi everyone its Fineonbae (yes its me) and i decided to make my very firs RMT! yay
So my very first idea came when I faced someone on the ladder using a Qwilfish/Mesprit hazard stack core and I was like "Hey thats a good idea" so i copied the idea for his team and here I am.

lighthouses (Qwilfish) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Scald
- Taunt

This is the whole basis of the team. Qwilfish is able to easily set up a layer of spikes and toxic spikes the majority of the time. I run Spikes to hinder most teams, and toxic spikes for stall teams. I run scald so that I'm not complete taunt bait and gets a burn 30% of the time. Taunt is there in the last spot to stop other hazard setters.

bakubreaker (Regirock) @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spdef/ 4 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

After trying out Mesprit for a little bit, I decided on Regirock since it was a more reliable rock setter. Toxic is there to stop most switch-ins. Stone Edge is there for a STAB move. Earthquake is run to do some damage to Doublade and also for EdgeQuake combo. Also it is my check for Moltres.

cpr (Abomasnow) @ Abomasite
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 8 HP / 160 Atk / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 84 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Ice Shard
- Giga Drain
- Blizzard
- Earthquake

After running many mons in this spot, I finally decided on Mega-Abomasnow. It's mainly here for being my strong mixed attacker, and my check for Gligar. 160 atk is to 2 hit-ko registeel with Earthquake. 252 spa atk is for max power on blizzard and Giga Drain. 84 speed ev's is for outspeeding 0 speed Rhyperior.

lyto (Braviary) @ Leftovers
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 212 SpD / 44 Spe
Careful Nature
- Substitute
- Bulk Up
- Roost
- Brave Bird

Braviary is my counter for the common defog users in the tier. I decided on Sub-Bu for longevity and to take at least one moltres fire blast. Also, it doges toxic, and is one of my reliable stallbreakers on the team. I could also consider it my late-game sweeper

heydude (Doublade) @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 56 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak

This is also pretty self-explanatory. Doublade is here as my spinblocker. I'm running more ev's to speed creep more Rhyperior's speedcreeping. Doublade functioning as another late game sweeper, my aromatisse check, my fairy check in general, and my cress check.

centauros (Hitmonlee) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch
- Rapid Spin

After many battles I realized that hazards were recking me. Hitmonlee is my spinner, cleaner, and wallbreaker. The set is pretty self-explanatory. Knock off for darks, and dual STAB.

That's my team! I was able to reach top 10 with it on the ladder. So yeah feel free to comment, I'm looking forward to some feedback! And that's it see ya later!

Friend, use + 252 spec def evs regirock please n_n

the point is you need regirock to switch into moltres, so it has to have special deffense investment

Formatting wise this RMT is booty. I can't sit and read a wall of text. Provide pictures, colors, SOMETHING to make this manageable for some of the more visual people.

As for the team itself, Adamant > Jolly for Hitmonlee. The extra power is greatly appreciated, netting the 2HKO on Doublade and OHKO on Jellicent.

If you want Regi to be your Moltres check, switch ATK EVs to SpD EVs. Anything Stone Edge is supposed to kill (bugs, fire birds) is still dying without that investment.

Other than that, I can't see much else wrong. Of course I'm semi new to RU, but I know some of what needs tuning. Hope I could help ;D

This is ironically similar to one of my teams which I was about to do an RMT on. Really like the team, but two things. First, can you explain the EV's on Abomasnow? The speed I understand, but the rest seem kind of random. Go more into depth.

Also, I would recommend choice scarfed Hitmonlee WITH rapid spin. This lets you not only outspeed most Moltres but timid, scarfed, variants, so if you lose Regirock, it's not over. It also lets you get off a rapid spin versus Pokemon faster than you normally so Abomasnow or Braviary can come in to clean up. Of course, showdown is down right now, so I can't test it, but this is my instinct, and I'm pretty confident about my RU experience.

Good team though. Nice job :)

EDIT: I only joined the forums on October 22nd. I've been playing showdown a while now. Don't doubt me on my RU experience. :/

Thanks for the feedback! The only thing is that I need the life orb on Hitmonlee w/adamant to 2hit Ko Doublade, which is a huge threat to my team. The Ev's on abomasnow were for 2-hit ko'ing Registeel w/ Earthquake after hazards, and for outspeeding Rhyperior

Hello Cynthia'sMilotic,

So I like the concept of your team, but I think you're a little confused with what you're trying to do here. This particular build of team is more or less suited for a bulky offense or balance style, but it seems you're marketing and/or playing it as hyper offense. I'm not going to argue that a team with specially defensive Regirock isn't hyper offense, but I think you would find a lot more success with this team going with a more balanced approach to playing it. Not only because you can patch up more weaknesses without changing as much about your team, but also because I feel it would work better in this metagame.

Right off the bat I can see struggles your team may have to beat three of the most common pokemon in the tier when they're used effectively, those being Hitmonlee, Doublade, and Gligar.

Your team heavily relies on hazards to do its job, securing OHKOs and 2HKOs on pokemon such as Doublade with your Hitmonlee for example. However I don't really see how it's feasible for you to keep them on the field throughout the match without making very aggressive double switches to keep defoggers off the field. Gligar can defog on both Hitmonlee and Regirock with little to no risk, neither of those pokemon can prevent Gligar from doing so and the only real way to deter this play is your Braviary. Even if you properly predict the opponent to go for a Defog and switch into your Braviary to obtain a Defiant boost, this situation still is not favorable for you for a number of reasons. The standard Braviary spread you're running will lose to any Gligar running 8 speed EVs and Toxic, but a more pressing issue is the fact that Gligar and Doublade are often paired together. The only way you're going to be able to break standard Doublade with BU Braviary is if you're already at +3 Def before they switch in, which unless your opponent is foolish will never happen. My point here is that it is very easy for your opponent to Defog, and there is very little risk involved in them doing so. This puts you at a huge disadvantage as your opponents playing field is now clear of hazards that your Qwilfish more than likely died setting up, and your team struggles to break standard defensive cores without these hazards.

Hitmonlee poses as more of an immediate threat than a passive one like Doublade-Gligar. I see absolutely nothing on your team that doesn't get OHKO'd or 2HKO'd by Reckless Hitmonlee, working under the assumption that Qwilfish performs its role as a designated lead. This is a pressing issue considering Hitmonlee is within the top 5 in usage for all RU teams.

The easiest way I can try to patch up these weakness is by changing Qwilfish to a more defensive bulid, and by replacing Hitmonlee with Skuntank. This change forces you to play in a more conservative way at times, but it also allows your team to function better against both offensive and defensive teams. Qwilfish gives you a reliable switch-in to non-EQ variants of Hitmonlee while also providing the pressure that (Toxic) Spikes delivers for your team. Your team is also a bit on the slower side, so running Thunder Wave on Qwilfish could mitigate this issue. Skuntank may seem like an odd choice, but my reasoning for it is that it still allows you to clear your field of hazards while preserving a way to beat Slowking and Doublade. The addition of Skuntank forces you to take a more passive approach to stacking hazards, but this should overall not be a problem and allows you a more reliable defense against other bulkier teams relying on hazards. If you feel the need you can also run Taunt on Skuntank to prevent opposing Gligar's from Defogging on you or setting up their Stealth Rock, this is a kind of cool niche that Hitmonlee could never provide!

The 24 Speed EVs are for 8 Speed Doublade, and Foul Play is used so you can actually beat Doublade. Thunder Wave is also a cool option on Qwilfish considering your team is rather slow, but Taunt stops defog and other hazard users.

Skuntank @ Black Sludge
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 12 HP / 228 Atk / 244 SpD / 24 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch / Taunt
- Pursuit
- Foul Play
- Defog

Qwilfish @ Black Sludge
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes / Thunder Wave
- Waterfall
- Taunt

I understand if you don't want to go this direction as it might change the "playstyle" of your team quite a bit, but I hope I helped. :]
