RU Semi Stall (Peaked 60 and Rising!)

So I used to be an OU player back in 4th gen and early 5th gen but what with all those sand teams nowadays I decided I'd switch to another tier. I first tried out UU and it was pretty fun but when I heard the new tier RU was out I had to try it out. I've been pretty successful with this team but I know with your help it can be better!

Team at a glance:

Teambuilding Process:
Team background: Well I knew rain was circling around alot in RU so I decided I would make a team to counter rain and that could stall a bit too.

url

I thought that Gastrodon would be a good rain counter and I think it's all around just a bamf pokemon so it deserved the first spot on my team.

Next I needed another pokemon to counter rain so I put in Kabutops. I originally had Poliwrath here but it was failing me so I switched to kabutops which was a good decision. Kabutops can use the opponents rain to its advantage and it has a useful priority move against sweepers so that got the 2nd spot on the team.

Next, I knew I had a huge grass weakness so far and I needed something that could check ludicolo, Along came Ferroseed. Ferroseed is such a good wall in the RU metagame, It tanks almost everything that doesnt hit it super effective and it tanks most super effective hits too! gastrodon and kabutops also resist ferroseeds fire weakness so they have good synergy.

Well Now I needed a fighting resist as I already have 2 weaknesses to fighting. In comes Dusknoir. Dusknoir has been a great help to the team checking almost every physical threat in the tier and absorbing status' with the resttalk set. ferroseed resists both its weaknesses too so the synergy is there.

Next I knew since my team was shaping up to be more stall based I would need a Toxic spikes lead. I chose Scolipede because it's fast and almost always gets off two toxic spikes with sash. It can also set up spikes if it survives long enough so that was a plus.

Lastly I decided to add in Yanmega, I don't really no why I put Yanmega on the team, probably because its just broken but I don't know. In any case it has done very well and I like its addition to the team. It does have a problem with stealth rocks though considering I don't run a spinner on my team.

Scolipede (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Poison Point
EV's: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -Satk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Megahorn
- Earthquake
- Spikes

Scolipede is a great lead in RU, It almost always gets down the toxic spikes for me and its what I usually lead with. Scolipede outspeeds alot of the metagame so when I have sash its almost guaranteed to get down 2 layers of toxic spikes which are vital to my team. Sometimes it's even helpful lategame when someone is trying to sweep me with a shell smash sweeper and my sash keeps me alive to OHKO them with EQ or Megahorn.

Considering: Maybe Drapion if someone has a good explanation as to why it's better and a good set.

Gastrodon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EV's: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 Satk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Recover
- Toxic

Gastrodon...The star of the show... Gastrodon is a great wall and spreads toxic like there is no other. I've had a game where I was down to just Gastro and My opponent had Cresselia and Wobbuffet but Gastro was able to stall them both out and pull the win out for me when it didn't seem possible. You can bring him in on other water types, electric types, fire types, etc, and force them out and toxic the switch in.

Considering: New EV spread.

Kabutops (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Swift Swim
EV's: 92 HP/ 252 Atk/ 164 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -Satk)
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Stone Edge

Kabutops is a very nice fit to the team. It counters other Rain teams, It has priority which is always handy, and it can sweep. All these reasons drew me to this Kabutops set. You may wander why the EV's are placed like that, I run just enough speed EV's to outspeed Max speed Adamant Nature Kabutops' so I can beat them in the mirror, plus the extra HP EV's are always nice.

Considering: New EV spread/ New pokemon.

Ferroseed (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spe)
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Gyro Ball

Ferroseed is amazing. plain and simple. You can bring Ferroseed on almost anything and set up spikes or leech seed away. It's such a good wall and fit this team really well. I sorta stole this set from Extra...:P

Considering: Nothing

Dusknoir (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EV's: 132 Def/ 252 HP/ 120 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -Satk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Will-o-Wisp
- Shadow Sneak

Dusknoir is an excellent wall in RU just like ferroseed and it gives the team a much needed fighting immunity. Gallades, hitmonlees, Primeapes, fighting types whatever, I bring this bad boy in on them and watch them weep. The Resttalk set is great for absorbing status' when my team needs it and Shadow Sneak is priority which I lurv. Pressure won me a game that I thought I had lost for sure against DarksoulSP because I kept switching it in on close combat and wittling his PP down until it ran out which won me the game.

Considering: New EV spread

url

Yanmega (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Speed Boost
EV's: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Modest Nature (+Satk, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Protect
- Giga Drain

Yanmega is sort of a wild card pokemon, I had one last spot open and decided to put it in. Nonetheless it has still won me games before and hasn't been a slouch on this team, Most of the time I wear down the opponents team then bring him in and sweep.

Considering: Other pokemon suggestions.

Threats:

Moltres: The life orb set is hard to beat if they have hidden power grass aqua jet comes in handy though. The subroost set can just toxic on gastro and keep subbing.

Lilligant: If they're running HP fire I have to try and wear them down with dusknoir.

Baton pass: I can't let them get many shell smashes/quiver dances but if they do I try to Revenge with Scolipede with an intact sash or priority moves.

I'll add more soon.

Oh gosh that stupid Pressure...!
XD

I would definetely put a Hidden Power over Giga Drain on that Yanmega. It doesn't help with coverage, and that's the key to sweeping with him. I personally like HP Ground, but there are some other good ones too.

What I do to counter weather is Sunny Day on my Ferroseed (is Gyro Ball really doing good damage? I just can't see that it would). Then you could remove Kabutops for something. Maybe a Fire type for a FGW core?

Those are just my thoughts! :3

Good idea's, but even with sunny day up I don't outspeed them with most of my poke's and they can just rain dance again so idk. I'll probably switch giga drain to a HP, It only really comes in handy vs stoise and rhyp.

Put Swarm on Scolipede, with Focus Sash, it can absolutely wreck things with a Swarm Boosted Megahorn. Also, I support the change to Hidden Power Ground on Yanmega, it reliably OHKOs Aggron, Magneton, and several others. Rhyperior is hit hard enough by Bug Buzz anyway... Kabutops without rain dance is somewhat strange, perhaps a replacement like Rhyperior? Or maybe even Aggron?

I like keeping Giga Drain on Yanmega. The healing and the ability to OHKO two things that generally wall you horribly in Rhyperior and Gastrodon is more valuable than the ability to kill lolMagneton. I would replace Kabutops with Rhyperior, as you can easily handle rain teams through Gastrodon and Ferroseed. Rhyperior with 252 Hp/252 Atk/4 Def with a set of Earthquake/Stone Edge/Stealth Rock/Roar helps your team out a lot by giving you the third hazard that you're missing right now for some reason and it gives you some welcome phazing and the set hits like a truck and walls a hell of a lot more than Kabutops.

Im currently 46 now on the ladder! Right now im testing HP on yanmega and a new Kabutops set so we'll see how that works, does anybody else have anything to say about my team? :D

You're not even going to test Rhyperior over Kabutops? Why would someone give you any more suggestions if you're not taking the completely viable and preferred suggestions that have already been given to you?

I'm just testing a new kabutops set atm ok? If I don't like It I'll test Rhyperior and I took the viable suggestion of Hidden power on Yanmega. Im just testing things to get a feel of what I like.
