RU Stall RMT

Hello! I am making my first RMT since months ago, and it is (I think) my first stall RMT!

How I Built the Team:

I started off with my Burn Shuffle Sigilyph build. This is what I wnted to build the team around.

I wanted hazards to fit the shuffling in the team, so I chose Ferroseed, as it also serves as something of a wall.

I simply wanted more stall 'mons, including one spinblocker, and Cofagrigus does just that.

Looking for a Special Wall, I chose Munchlax for the job, which also helps with the fire weakness.

I wanted something discouraging defog, so I chose Pawniard for that, and also as the only sweepish/cleanup poke, of which i prefer to have at least one.

Finally, I had no mega at that stage, and chose Steelix, which serves as a long-lasting tank that can also dish out pain.

EDIT: Shoutout to Arifeen for pointing this out, my team loses to emboar, so I replace Munchlax with Jellicent.

Without further ado, the team!

Kemps (Sigilyph) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Cosmic Power
- Psycho Shift
- Roost
- Whirlwind

The poke I built this team around, I chose it for its potential to burn multiple pokes and wall for a while, with support. The role of this 'mon is a status-er, also with some hazard shuffling and walling qualities. Cosmic Power for the walling potential, Psycho Shift to burn, Roost to keep the center of the team (this) alive, and Whirlwind to disrupt boosting pokes and shuffle. Special Defense for better walling of both types, as it would be necessary to get as much burn in as possible.

Bad Seed (Ferroseed) @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball

Remember how above I mentioned hazards? This gets out the hazards, and can also, to an extent, wall. Synergizes with Cofagrigus to stop spinners, and Munchlax for fire-types. Hazards on moveset because they are nowhere else on the team, Leech Seed is the "status" of this wall, Gyro Ball as a damage-dealing move. 248 HP to keep it odd.

ToTA (Cofagrigus) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Pain Split
- Haze

I chose Cofagrigus as a spinblocker AND an amazing wall, with a good defensive type too. WoW in case Sigilyph hasn't worked magic yet, Hex for damaging STAB to chip away at burned foes, Pain Split for special mons or other stalls with better recovery, Haze so no sweeper can set up too well.

ineeddollar (Steelix) @ Steelixite
Ability: Sturdy
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

I chose MegaLix over all other megas because it fits the team best, as a tank with some offensive potential. Its role is a tank that can stay alive to milk status effects while being able to deal with non-statused pokes. Heavy Slam because most of the tier is much lighter than Steelix, Earthquake because it hits so much while also being STAB, and RestTalk for staying alive quite a while but not being completely useless during the sleep.

McNugget (Munchlax) @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Return
- Toxic
- Whirlwind
- Rock Slide

At this point in teambuilding, I was in desperate need of a special wall, and a fire resist. This does both remarkably well. Return for a STAB move with decent base power, and Rock Slide to cover those it would probably be walling. Toxic for a status effect and Whirlwind for even more hazard shuffling and setup cancelling.

Jelly Lelly (Jellicent) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover

Again, shoutout to Arifeen for pointing this out, Jellicent over Munchlax as a fire resist, to deal with Emboar much better. The role is just a wall and Emboar check, as well as piling on to the burn train and also spinblocking. Hydro Pump over Scald due to burn options on my team, WoW to make up for that, Hex cuz 10 BP on statused, same as on Cofagrigus, and Recover to completely wall anything that deals under 50% damage.

Checkmate (Pawniard) @ Eviolite
Ability: Defiant
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance

I needed something to discourage defog, and also wouldn't mind a revenge killer or potential sweeper. The role of this poke is revenge killer/cleanup and Defog deterrent. Sucker Punch as STAB priority to revenge kill or stop sweepers, Knock off to remove items and with good base power and STAB, Iron Head as an alternative STAB, and Swords Dance to help it clean up.

Thanks in advance for rating! Currently, biggest weakness seems to be Houndoom. Also, if possible, if you see any opening for Alomomola to come into my team, pls point it out!

I see what you're going for, but there are quite a few things I can see this team struggling with.

  • Knock Off and Pursuit. Other than Mega Steelix, your entire team is either crippled or heavily damaged by Knock Off. Pursuit deals a lot out of damage from both Sigilyph and Cofagrigus.
  • Speaking of Pursuit, Houndoom destroys your entire team other than Munchlax.
  • Fighting types. Emboar and Gurdurr jump out immediately for me since they can both demolish this team. Four of your team members are weak to fighting, Sigilyph has nothing it can do offensively to Fighting types other than burn them, though not against Emboar and Gurdurr gets a boost in power from a burn. Even then, your Sigilyph is outsped by many common Fighting types like Hitmonlee and Gallade, who can also OHKO. Swords Dance Virizion also tears through this team at +2.
  • Opposing hazards. You have no wish support and no hazard removal, so against teams with their own Spiker, you're far more likely to be worn down than your opponent.
The first change I would make is to lose Pawniard. The team is already super weak to Fighting and Fire types and punishing Defog isn't as vital as keeping your hazard setters healthy. I would add Alomomola. Wish support is extremely vital for keeping your stall team alive and Alomomola is an excellent defensive check against most of the tier and adds another Knock Off absorber (not ideal, but could be worse). The next thing I'd change is Ferroseed. While Ferroseed is rather cool, Mega Steelix is better here and synergizes extremely well with Alomomola. Alomomola helps a lot against Emboar as well. While I appreciate Spike stacking, your team really needs a way to deal with the opponent's hazards. Luckily, you're already running an extra hazard setter in Cofagrigus's Toxic Spikes, which can really tear teams apart. If you replace Ferroseed with Togetic, you'll have Defog and Heal Bell support, which is exactly what your team needs. It also gives you a check for other fighting types like Hitmonlee and Gurdurr. I know that you built this team around that Sigilyph set, but there's a much more powerful option in Calm Mind, Air Slash, Roost, Psycho Shift. I'd also change Mega Steelix to the standard hazard setter set and Cofagrigus into a physically defensive one.

Sigilyph @ Flame Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Roost
- Calm Mind
- Air Slash
- Psycho Shift

Togetic @ Eviolite
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Defog
- Dazzling Gleam
- Roost
- Heal Bell

Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 120 HP / 136 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Scald
- Toxic

Steelix @ Steelixite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Heavy Slam
- Stone Edge

Munchlax @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Return
- Toxic
- Whirlwind
- Rock Slide

Cofagrigus @ Leftovers
Ability: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic Spikes
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Pain Split

The changes I made will give it trouble against Rotom-C and Eelektross, though Munchlax should do OK with them. Trick and Knock Off suck though. Munchlax is also the closest thing to a check for Exploud. Virizion still destroys the team at + 2 if it has Stone Edge (which most do). It's still rather Pursuit weak too, though Wish support will go a long way in keeping Cofagrigus and Sigilyph healthy. I'd make more changes to address some more of its flaws, but I think any more and it wouldn't really be your team anymore.

EDIT: I made these adjustment before you swapped Munchlax for Jellicent. I feel Alomomola is better because SpD Jellicent isn't very good and it makes you even more weak to Pursuit.

To be honest, I think these changes make a new team entirely. I suppose I'll go back to Munchlax and switch Pawniard with Alomomola.
