So, I decided to try RU after a few pathetic attempts, and I think I finally have a team that works pretty well. I'm still fairly new to RU, so I would like some advice on how to make this team better
Team at a glance:
Galvantula/Cryogonal/Entei/Uxie/Clefable/Hitmonchan
(Sorry, don't know how how to post sprites :p Don't judge me)
Genei Ryodan (Galvantula) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Compoundeyes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Thunder
- Volt Switch
This is the pokemon this team was built for, and boy does it work. Being able to combat the dreaded Tangrowth/Slowking core single handedly is absolutely wonderful. Expert belt is great for getting the jump one an unaware opponent, allowing me to KO a pokemon while the think I'm choice locked. The set other than that is pretty standard, with bug buzz and Thunder being the main stab option, HP Ground is there mainly for other electric types and steelix.
Frosted Flake (Cryogonal) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 92 SDef / 168 Def
Bold Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Toxic
Cryogonal was my rapid spinner of choice, with recover and a good enough base SpD to make up for it's low Defense, It make for a nice defensive spinner. It's speed is one of Cryogonal's most over looked traits, with a base 105, it's able to outspeed nearly every wall in the tier with no investment and get off a rapid spin. The set is pretty standard, with toxic for walls such as Slowking and Uxie. Not much else to say other than it's great support due to the fact that my two main offensive weapons are weak to rocks
Nymph (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Def
Calm Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell
The single best support pokemon in the tier, being able to take hits for days while being incredibly hard to KO and impossible to wear down. Wish support is great for those moments where I need to bring in Entei or Galvantula but don't have the chance to spin. Heal bell has gotten me out of a couple of jams where Galvantula or Entei were paralyzed. The only problem is that this is my best defensive answer to Ghost types on my team, but isn't able to do anything in return.
Uncle Jackie (Hitmonchan) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 HP / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Ice Punch
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
This mon. This Hitmonchan has done so much work it isn't even funny. I'm surprised I haven't seen this set before, Base 110 Special D isn't something to laugh at, and after a couple of bulk ups, plus the iron fist boost, it becomes a monster. It's so good this thing survived a thunder from a life orb Galvantula... at 60% health. Seriously, go use this. You might want to change Ice Punch to Thunder Punch though to to deal damage to slowking. I've swept a couple of teams with this thing due to it's amazing combination of good bulk, good attack, a recovery move that not only gets STAB boost, but Iron Fist boost, and priority.
Navi (Uxie) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 104 Spd
Bold Nature
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
Another pretty standards defensive pokemon. Stealth rock support and T-Wave are always appriciated to help my Galvantula and Entei sweep while scouting with U-Turn is always nice. Psychic is also the main stab move of choice. Not much else to say other than this is probably the most potent wall on this team. He takes almost all physical attacks with relative impunity.
Hentei (Entei) @ Choice Band
Trait: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- ExtremeSpeed
- Stone Edge
- Sleep Talk
This monster. All I have to do is click Flare Blitz and things die. Not even Defensive slowking can taking this monster, taking 49% from it, a definite 2HKO after rocks. It is pretty much the best wall breaker and late game sweeper after paralysis has been spread around. Everything is once again pretty standard, Sleep Talk is always nice to catch opponents off guard who think they can set up.
So that's the team. You may have noticed I lack a choice scarf, but I figured E-Speed on Entei does the same thing but better. As I said before Ghost types (Most notably defensive Spiritomb) give me trouble, though I am able to muscle through them, they tend to be annoying and can cause trouble if left unattended to. Any advice is appriciated, thanks!
