Facendosi strada con forza nella scena RU, Torterra è una terrificante minaccia in grado di potenziarsi che utilizza il suo solido bulk e il suo typing unico per distruggere core difensive comuni. Scontro Frontale permette a Torterra di mandare al tappeto in un colpo solo Registeel ed Empoleon con la Baccanaca, che altrimenti potrebbero sopravvivere a un colpo e infliggere danni ingenti a loro volta. Semitraglia è un'ottima opzione STAB che, con il Dado truccato, manda KO wall come Slowbro e Suicune, oltre a rompere il Fantasmanto di Mimikyu. Cadutamassi può colpire i tipi Volante come Talonflame e Noivern che altrimenti potrebbero incassare un colpo. Il Teratipo Fuoco consente a Torterra di ignorare le scottature da Talonflame ed Entei, oltre che a resistere agli attacchi di tipo Fuoco di Armarouge e del già menzionato Entei. A causa della sua bassa Velocità, può avere difficoltà contro comuni utilizzatori della Stolascelta come Mienshao e Gengar, pertanto Ribombee con Rete Vischiosa è un grande alleato. I tipi Erba avversari come Chesnaught, Amoonguss e Breloom sono fastidiosi per Torterra, per cui Pokémon come Armarouge, Mew e Gengar che possono approfittarsi di loro sono molto apprezzati.
