Hey guys, this is my first time getting advice from the Smogon RMT crew and I'd like to put a small disclaimer to say I'm not the best at team building due to not being mega experienced.
So, I decided on trick room being the basis of my team because it's the only chance my favourite Poke Slowking has of being a massive threat.
So with that in mind, I needed a trick room user who wouldn't get owned by a Bug Buzz from one of the various RU bug sweepers. Cofagrigus was the only option really and he's cool a mummy tomb, what's not to like?
I then wanted 2 walls. Physically I chose Cresselia due to the fact there are few if any physical bug moves around contrary to the special side. So Physical seemed like the logical choice. She can also do trick room. For the special side, I saw the unorthodox Poke Audino. I had used Audino as a great support tool to previous RU teams, and upon seeing she got trick room I thought she'd do okay.
Now onto the Non-trick room user. I decided on a Band Crawdaunt, largely down to pretty good coverage, mega slow base speed and high attack. With trick room up, He always lets loose a powerful move, and I love flinch hax with waterfall ^__^
For my last poke, I struggled to be honest. I noticed I needed further offensive prowess to actually maintain some pressure, and I needed some entry hazards to stop pesky bugs. So it was largely a toss up between Aggron and Rhyperior. I chose rhyperior for the (IMO) better move pool.
Okay so now down to the details.
RoyalFlush (Slowking)
Ability: Regenerator
EV Spread: 252 HP/252 SpA/4SpecDef
Nature: Quiet
Item: Leftovers
-Trick Room
-Nasty Plot
-Surf
-Psyshock
Comments: Okay, this dude is the main stay cause he's the reason I made the team. I usually get a Trick room up prior to sending him out because most people think "Trick room ey.... *Switch*" and I then bring Slowking in and proceed to Nasty Plot if need be or if I think a OHKO is on, go for the attack. He's my main sweeper, being fairly specially bulky, I can bring him in on resisted special hits even with 0 investment. Currently considering a moveset change, due to finding it hard to getting him up and running (or sweeping I should say).
I.Jones (Cofagrigus)
Ability: Mummy
EV spread: 252 HP/252 SpecDef/4 Def
Nature: Sassy
Item: Leftovers
-Trick Room
-Nasty Plot
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power Fighting
Comments: This guy was mainly to have a Trick Room bug-resistant user, and he does his job. He more often than not can dent things due to natural bulk allowing 1-2 Nasty plots. Considering changing this to Calm Mind to prolong Cofa's stay. I don't think he can be replaced due to vital resistance.
Tiananmen (Audino)
Ability: Regenerator
EV Spread: 252 HP/252 SpecDef/4 SpA
Nature: Sassy
Item: Leftovers
-Trick room
-Toxic
-Wish
-Encore
Comments: An underrated Poke in RU. Audino is great due to its variety of options. Encore is for stopping set-up sweepers somewhat. I am considering heal bell over this however because toxic-stall really does eat my team alive sometimes =/. This is my defacto special wall, not brilliant, but considering people always switch a physical attacker into it, it gets alot of regenerates.
Swansong (Cress)
Ability: Levitate
EV Spread: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpecDef
Nature: +Def -Speed (forget name atm)
Item: Leftovers
-Trick Room
-Moonlight
-Ice Beam
-Toxic
Comments: Sort of thrown in, due to being very beastly for RU. Cress takes hits like a champ and can set up Trick Room and stall at the same time. Often Trick Rooming on the switch where the opponent can't take more toxic damage or from the off when people don't fancy their poke against Cress. Not been amazing, maybe I play a bad set (likely, Slightly nooby).
Linguini (Crawdaunt)
Ability:Hyper Cutter (I wasn't sure if Adaptability was released or not)
EV Spread: 252 HP/252 Attk/4 Def
Nature: Brave
Item: Choice Band
-Waterfall
-Crunch
-Aerial Ace
-Superpower
Comments: Surprising how many people think it's a SD or DD Crawdaunt. I love it's massive power and very good coverage, despite band limiting it's choices, it dents anything non-resistant and if Adaptability is released, I can see him being a major poke for me. He's the MVP so far. With his pathetic speed, he's always going first and always letting OHKOing if not severely denting everything that can't resist it.
MacDaddy (Rhyperior)
Ability: Solid Rock
EV Spread: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Def
Item: Leftovers
-Stealth Rock
-Megahorn
-Earthquake
-Dragon Tail
Comments: A rather lacklustre choice, simply thrown in like Cress but he hasn't let me down too much. Dragontail for the set up sweepers, Rocks to hinder bug switches (get alot of them due to psychic type being common on my team) and Megahorn to dent opposing psychic pokes.
The two most suspect of the team so far are Rhypy and Cress. I could use some advice on most of the movesets due to them being somewhat predictable at times, especially Slowking, NP and TR limiting him to 2 moves isn't ideal.
Apologies if you think I've made some ridiculously stupid mistakes in my team such as glaring weaknesses, but I've only being properly battling daily for 2months and I do it quite casually, but if i were to enhance my team to a Top100 team say, I can see myself getting really into it.
My first trick room team so I might be missing some key tricks. Also, I'm not great at formatting these things, If you can't see my pictures I'll try add some more and maybe some colour text and stuff later!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
