Project RU Victim of the Week! Week 16: Arcanine (Sub)

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Gyro Ball
- Protect

Bronzong is one of the sturdiest Mega Sceptile counters out there with its great Special Defense and lack of weaknesses to any of Sceptile’s attacks. Focus Blast does negligible damage, especially with Leftovers, and Bronzong is free to do whatever it chooses, whether it be getting up Stealth Rock or throwing off an attack.

reserving Scarf Salazzle

Salazzle @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power Grass
- Dragon Pulse

Salazzle is a check to Mega Sceptile, because it can outspeed and OHKO Sceptile with STAB Sludge Wave. Salazzle cannot switch in on the majority of it's attacks, however.

Reserving Florges
View attachment 170118
Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Moonblast
- Synthesis
- Heal Bell

Florges is an excellent check to Mega-Sceptile because it is able to come in on pretty much every move it dishes out and it is also immune to Mega-Sceptiles Stab in Dragon Pulse.
Focus Blast and Earthquake won't do too much either as the former is resisted and the latter does only 30% max.
Leaf Storm does 52% max roll but after it, Mega-Sceptiles SpAtt drops by two stages, so Florges is able to heal itself up with Synthesis.
Due to the mentioned move in Synthesis Florges can come in multiple times into Sceptile-Mega and can keep it at bay consistently.
Calcs:
252 SpA Sceptile-Mega Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Florges: 159-187 (44.1 - 51.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Sceptile-Mega Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Florges: 48-57 (13.3 - 15.8%) -- possibly the worst move ever
4 Atk Sceptile-Mega Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 120 Def Florges: 91-108 (25.2 - 30%) -- 0.1% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Sceptile-Mega Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Florges: 159-187 (44.1 - 51.9%) -- 75% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
into
-2 252 SpA Sceptile-Mega Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Florges: 79-94 (21.9 - 26.1%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Florges Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Sceptile-Mega: 258-306 (91.8 - 108.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Golisopod @ Insect Plate
Ability: Emergency Exit
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spe
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Leech Life
- Liquidation
- Spikes

cool check since you click first impression and ohko or set spikes upon a forced switch. protect sceptile or bust

Araquanid @ Splash Plate
Ability: Water Bubble
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Leech Life
- Liquidation
- Spider Web
- Toxic
Araquanid can easily leave a leaf storm from Sceptile-Mega.
252 SpA Sceptile-Mega Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Araquanid: 181-214 (53.2 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Spider Web allows it to trap Mega Sceptile in.
Even if Araquanid gets low it can KO or get Sceptile low with leech life and heal back hp.
252+ Atk Araquanid Leech Life vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Sceptile-Mega: 270-320 (96 - 113.8%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

Sceptile's other moves barely hurt Araquanid.
4 Atk Sceptile-Mega Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Araquanid: 42-50 (12.3 - 14.7%) -- possible 7HKO
252 SpA Sceptile-Mega Dragon Pulse vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Araquanid: 118-141 (34.7 - 41.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Sceptile-Mega Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Araquanid: 56-66 (16.4 - 19.4%) -- possible 6HKO

Salazzle @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Dragon Pulse

Salazzle 4x resists leaf storm and can return with an OHKO from sludge wave OR fire blast on a metagross predict

Some calcs:
252 SpA Sceptile Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Salazzle: 69-81 (24.9 - 29.2%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Sceptile Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Salazzle: 121-143 (43.6 - 51.6%) -- 9.8% chance to 2HKO

252 SpA Salazzle Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Sceptile: 368-434 (130.9 - 154.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Salazzle Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Sceptile: 318-374 (113.1 - 133%) -- guaranteed OHKO

It is possibly only a CHECK as if the Christmas tree runs earthquake it cant swtich in although IMO hp fire is much better coverage.
0- Atk Sceptile Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Salazzle: 340-400 (122.7 - 144.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Edit: ignore this i thought submiting was still up.
Edit2: Really sorry sickist I should have read the second page. I will delete if u like.

Congratulations to Sickist for winning week 2 of VotW with his Choice Scarf Salazzle submission. Scizorphobic and Jmash324 came in second and third for their submissions. Check the Hall of Fame and leaderboards as they will be updated.

Moving on to the third VotW....

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Protect

One of the most spammable Pokemon in the RU meta, Registeel is easily one of the best defensive Pokemon in the tier. Lets find a way to beat it...

Reserving Ninetales

Ninetales (F) @ Firium Z
Ability: Drought
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Explanation:
Ninetales is a good check to Registeel because it can Ohko Registeel under sun with its Inferno Overdrive as well as deal a huge chunk of damage with its Fire Blast.
It also has the freedom to set up Vs Registeel as the Steel Type Legendary Titan can't do much in return to Ninetales.
However the Ninetales user must be careful Vs Toxic Tect Mind games and The 25% damage incurred upon switching in with Rocks up.
Overall Ninetales is a solid check to Registeel being one of the few Pokemon in the tier which can take Advantage of the Special Wall.

Salazzle @ Poisonium Z
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power Grass

Salazzle doesn't care about Toxic and can take a Seismic Toss while still being out of range of Golisopod's First Impression and Donphan's Ice Shard. Salazzle at +2 can then OHKO Registeel with Fire Blast around 70% or at +3 just straight OHKO it.

sorry for being late DBW

Mismagius @ Ghostium Z / Electrium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 8 Def / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Taunt / Substitute

Mismagius is one of the best checks for registeel, it can’t manually switch into him due to the risk of eating toxic which can be annoying and complicate setup but on a free switch mismagius basically laughs at registeel, it doesn’t take damage from seismic toss and with both taunt or substitute it doesn’t receive toxic and turns registeel into complete setup fodder, also taunt doesn’t let registeel set rocks. Electrium or Ghostium doesn’t really matter here but you can check mismagius’ analysis for more details about this.

Toxicroak doesnt really care about Seismic Toss, since it just sd's and then goes back to full thanks to Drain Punch.
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Toxicroak Drain Punch vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Registeel: 390-460 (107.1 - 126.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
