Nominating Bewear as a check.

Bewear @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Double-Edge
- Drain Punch
- Darkest Lariat

I find Bewear to be a pretty solid check as the only move that threatens it with a 2HKO is Close Combat, all its other moves 3HKO Bewear or less, and depending on the move, Bewear can kill Barraskewda from where it's at with a Double-Edge, or simply just set-up a SD, which makes it a much more threatening Pokemon as a whole, though it's a check because it can't hard switch into Barraskewda without risking being 2HKO'd by CC.

252+ Atk Life Orb Barraskewda Liquidation vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Fluffy Bewear: 113-134 (29.6 - 35.1%) -- 17.3% chance to 3HKO

252+ Atk Life Orb Barraskewda Psychic Fangs vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Fluffy Bewear: 151-179 (39.6 - 46.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ Atk Life Orb Barraskewda Crunch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Fluffy Bewear: 36-43 (9.4 - 11.2%) -- possible 9HKO

252+ Atk Life Orb Barraskewda Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Fluffy Bewear: 216-255 (56.6 - 66.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Silk Scarf Bewear Double-Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Barraskewda: 343-405 (130.4 - 153.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Once again, I failed to take my own advice and put up a mon that had only 2 counters lol. Therefore, for the next one I will really think it through before using it. So, Sensei Axew gets 2 points. The link to their submission of Gastrodon is below. Expulso, I hate to say it man (and I hate myself for not noticing this earlier), Appletun is not ranked on our VR, so I had to disregard it buddy. I do feel bad :blobsad:

Click here to go to Sensei Axew's Gastrodon submission!

So, as with last week, vote only for 2 checks!

Checks: Vileplume, Sableye

(Lanturn is also very good but I chose Jellicent because it’s immune to water and fighting moves, which stops cb fish from using its 2 strongest attacks)

Alright guys, in light of the news over the recent ban of Barraskewda, the submissions and thusly, votes, are now being ignored and we will start off the week with a new victim. And no, it won't be Centiskorch since it was banned alongside Barraskewda. Without further ado, here we go!

Week 4
The new victim to kill dead is...........

Rillaboom @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- U-turn

Voting will begin on Wednesday, April 15

Vileplume as a counter

Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Strength Sap
- Sleep Powder / Growth

Vileplume can easily beat Rillaboom as it doesn't take much from any of its moves, the worse that can happen is get Knocked Off throughout the match, which can be annoying but is not a big deal. Vileplume can take the hits and heal itself with Strength Sap, while Sludge Bomb will KO Rillaboom after some prior damage.

252 Atk Rillaboom Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Vileplume: 83-98 (23.4 - 27.6%) -- 81.5% chance to 4HKO
252 Atk Rillaboom Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Vileplume: 85-101 (24 - 28.5%) -- possible 5HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Rillaboom U-turn vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Vileplume: 60-71 (16.9 - 20%) -- possible 7HKO after Black Sludge recovery
4 SpA Vileplume Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Rillaboom: 282-332 (82.6 - 97.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Megahorn
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Close Combat

You take literally nothing from Wood Hammer, stomach all the other hits, albeit taking multiple will add up due to the lack of recovery, click Megahorn and call it a day. Check.

252 Atk Rillaboom Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Escavalier: 102-121 (36.1 - 42.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

I accidentally deleted my reservation for zard but I am still reserving

Charizard @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 24 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Defog
- Flamethrower
- Will-O-Wisp

Bulky Zard is probably one of my fav mons rn esp with the ban of its biggest checks being Centiskorch and Barraskewda. Both U-turn and Wood Hammer are 4x resisted and it is immune to Earthquake. This leaves Knock off with being the only move that can hit for any meaningful damage. This is very dangerous for Zard because it loses its boots and gets its 4x Stealth Rocks weakness back. The next turn Zard can fire back with a guarenteed ohko Flamethrower or roost up because the next knock will do less damage. This is why I'm nomming Zard as a CHECK.

EPIC CALCS

252 Atk Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 24 Def Charizard: 57-67 (19.1 - 22.5%) -- possible 5HKO
252 Atk Rillaboom U-turn vs. 0 HP / 24 Def Charizard: 22-26 (7.4 - 8.7%) -- possibly the worst move ever
Rillaboom Earthquake vs. Charizard: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252 Atk Rillaboom Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 24 Def Charizard: 123-145 (41.4 - 48.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Rillaboom Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 24 Def Charizard: 83-98 (27.9 - 32.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

232 SpA Charizard Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rillaboom: 344-408 (100.8 - 119.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Banned deucer.
reserving weezing again

:ss/Weezing:
Weezing @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Flamethrower
- Will-O-Wisp

- Haze

Weezing is a strong answer to Rillaboom as Rillaboom cant do anything at all to it with its STAB in Wood Hammer and the coverage moves in U-Turn and Earthquake where the latter of those wont hit Weezing at all. The only thing which Rillaboom can do towards it is knocking off its Black Sludge but even then Weezing provides itself as a very strong mon against Rillaboom. Weezing has Sludge Bomb to hit Rillaboom very hard and eventually poison it and Weezing also has Flamethrower since it cant hit Steel-types otherwise, which are possible teammates for Rillaboom and it also hits Rillaboom itself. Due to those facts Weezing is a Counter, as Rillaboom is helpless against it as Weezing is able to also cripple it with its support-move
in Will-O-Wisp.

Calcs:
0 SpA Weezing Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Rillaboom: 224-266 (65.6 - 78%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Weezing Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Rillaboom: 150-178 (43.9 - 52.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Weezing: 65-77 (19.4 - 23%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Rillaboom Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Weezing: 70-83 (20.9 - 24.8%) -- 95.3% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Rillaboom U-turn vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Weezing: 25-30 (7.4 - 8.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

252 Atk burned Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Weezing: 32-38 (9.5 - 11.3%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252 Atk burned Rillaboom Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Weezing: 35-41 (10.4 - 12.2%) -- possible 8HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk burned Rillaboom U-turn vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Weezing: 12-15 (3.5 - 4.4%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Nominating Flapple as a check

Flapple @ Life Orb
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Grav Apple
- Sucker Punch

252 Atk Rillaboom Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Flapple: 63-75 (22.4 - 26.6%) -- 26.9% chance to 4HKO
252 Atk Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Flapple: 57-67 (20.2 - 23.8%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
252 Atk Rillaboom Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Flapple: 124-146 (44.1 - 51.9%) -- 14.1% chance to 2HKO

Obviously you don't appreciate U-turn, but if you read a revenge attempt properly (or sac something to get Flapple in on a locked move), you get a free DD or attack. Additionally, U-turn caps out at 75.4%, so if Rillaboom attempts to revenge later after you DD'd at full (and KO'd a mon), it can't even revenge and lets something else eat two boosted hits. And:

252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Flapple Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Rillaboom: 372-438 (109 - 128.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

80% of the time, you OHKO all the time.

Bewear @ Leftovers
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Drain Punch
- Double-Edge
- Darkest Lariat

252 Atk Rillaboom Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Bewear: 127-150 (33.3 - 39.3%) -- 19.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Fluffy Bewear: 114-135 (29.9 - 35.4%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

takes nothing from hits and can set up for free or just start hitting it back, preferably not switched in directly to not be chipped too much though!

Nominating Vikavolt as a Counter

:ss/Vikavolt:

Vikavolt @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Bug Buzz
- Energy Ball
- Volt Switch

Can come in very easily - resisting the powerful stab of Woodhammer and immune to the main coverage move in EQ, Vika has lots of opportunity to come on in and say hi to Kong. If rilla stays in to hit again, it will certainly be KO'd by the goat of Bug Buzz's. Vika can also Roost up to heal off any damage from knock or U-turn if need be.

252+ SpA Vikavolt Bug Buzz vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Rillaboom: 468-552 (137.2 - 161.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Vikavolt: 104-123 (29 - 34.3%) -- 3.5% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Rillaboom Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Vikavolt: 113-133 (31.5 - 37.1%) (with item)
252 Atk Rillaboom Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Vikavolt: 76-90 (21.2 - 25.1%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO (HDB knocked off)
252 Atk Rillaboom U-turn vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Vikavolt: 82-97 (22.9 - 27%) -- 52.1% chance to 4HKO
EQ doesn't do squat
