RUe the punishment to come

Yes, I know, 2 puns in the title. It had to happen.

On to more important stuff!

This is a relatively new team I made and it seems to do alright. However, alright is not good enough for a god such as myself so I come to you, wisest of mortals to advise me. As a side note, I am also looking for clever(ish) nicknames to add to their badassery. ON TO THE TEAM NOW

I'm Very Hitmonlee (Hitmonlee) (M) @ Normal Gem
Trait: Unburden
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Hi Jump Kick
- Sucker Punch
- Blaze Kick

Underestimating this guy's raw power would be a faux pas (french for foot in mouth). More specifically, his foot in your mouth. This guy's HJK can take a significant chunk out of anything that does resist it. More frightening still is unburden's speed boost. Between those two things and the coverage from the last two moves, not much can stand up to hitmonlee long and he has huge potential as an opening sweeper. Potential walls and counters would be slowking (which can't take many sucker punches), gallade, and nidoqueen.

Spiritombed Away (Spiritomb) @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Sneak

After seeing the fearsome might of hitmonlee, I had to find a way to protect myself. My solution was the (somewhat) bulky ghost switch in. The HJK miss usually takes out half of hitmonlee's hp and wisp cripples his attack. Should he try to switch out, pursuit can salt his wounds. Spiritomb also helps check some of hitmonlee's psychic counters. Not only that but, this guy makes a surprisingly good prio-sweeper. Without weaknesses, ohkoing this guy is difficult but sword dancers (watch the wisp) and nasty plotters can do it. Not to mention the fact that steel walls him.

Microsoft Accelgor (Accelgor) @ Bug Gem
Trait: Unburden
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Encore
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Giga Drain
Accelgor is hitmonlee's akward, faster, weaker, specially based cousin. He has the same faster sweeper role as lee but special and eats psychics for breakfast. He also does well at taking down steelix who can't ohko with gyro ball and doesn't sufficient spdef to last. Lastly there is encore, the subslayer. I cant think of any big special walls in RU but anything with a decent offense, spdef to survive a hit, and a super effective move will take him down.

Lilligant (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Own Tempo
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def
Modest Nature
- Petal Dance
- Quiver Dance
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power [Rock]
A grass pokemon after my own heart <3 :pimp:. What it lacks in coverage it makes up for in raw firepower. Drop powder, Quiver, Bash. I know all the move sets call for chlorophyll but, in the absence of a sunny day abuser, no confusion from petal dance seemed more useful. I have played around with hidden power maximizing coverage and I learned something valuable: no matter what HP you use, something will always resist both moves. Rock is just to discourage moltres switch ins that may think they can wall my lovely lady.

Slowking @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Slack Off
- Psyshock
- Scald
- Toxic
This guy is a brick wall! Slowking also has good defenses :P. Not only can he take hits but he can send them back. You can kiss most walls goodbye when this guy comes out. Unfortunately, anything with a sub makes things difficult for him. He also lacks power against specially defensive steels and himself (bar toxic).

KlinklangKlinklangKl (Klinklang) @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Gear Grind
- Return
- Wild Charge
- Shift Gear
Possibly worse offensive coverage than lilligant. His advantage over the love of my life is toxic immunity and gear grind. He is the best at taking down toxseedsub whimsicott. Unfortunately, he is horribly walled by anything with a defense, even after shift gear. *sigh* At least he has decent defensive typing.

hey there,

despite being over a week old, i noticed that absolutely no one gave this a rate so i s'pose i'll do my best to help you out. you're actually straight-up 6-0'd by moltres, especially if slowking is weakened at all. it can't switch in on anything at all, either, since that spread is has a strong chance of being 2hkoed by fire blast + hurricane after SR. you also have issues with some very standard stuff like lo nidoqueen - nothing can switch in at all, and nothing you have can respond very well (except slowking, who again cannot switch in at all). the first and best change i can suggest for you is to change slowking's spread to 252 hp / 252 spdef @ calm. this at least gives you a fighting chance against moltres / nidoqueen, although it's really not the ideal answer to either since it has to be at full health to check either of them.

part of the issue is that you carry several 'sweepers' that have very distinct and prominent checks, but little actual synergy between them, as none of them actually clear the way for another to sweep. for example, i have no real idea of what accelgor does for you. aside from being a generic attacker, it seems like it brings very little to your team outside of "wee i'm fast". i really think it's in your best interest to select a focal point on your team, and try to work your team around that. i think your best option right now would be hitmonlee, since you have pursuit support in spiritomb and wall-breaking capabilities with lilligant, although you can certainly go for something else if you wanted.

anyway, i think you should look into changing out accelgor and klinklang for pokemon that carry good offensive synergy with hitmonlee (as in, they can either clear out or weaken hitmonlee's counters so you can sweep late-game) as opposed to pokemon that are randomly thrown on for the heck of it. ideally, you want to weaken / eliminate any bulky fighting-type resists, like cofagrigus, uxie, slowking, and qwilfish, as well as getting rid of priority (namely kabutops's aqua jet and entei e-speed) since they can cut your sweep short. one of the standout options that you should test out imo is swords dance feraligatr - not only does it lure and heavily damage several of those counters (as well as beating nidoqueen / moltres), but it can certainly sweep on its own right and also appreciates hitmonlee's ability to outrun and KO fast grass-types like sceptile and rotom-c. lilligant can also set up on poliwrath / quagsire / tangrowth, who are feraligatr's biggest defensive checks. the last slot can be filled by a multitude of pokemon, but i'd recommend testing out some kind of hazard support (stealth rock or spikes), which will also help you against common offensive threats and will wear down teams for your sweepers to actually do their job. it is really up to you which setter you prefer (and i don't really know the best one in the metagame atm), so i'll leave that decision up to you.

there are a couple of other small changes that need to be made. firstly, you definitely would want stone edge > blaze kick imo, as that lets you actually hit moltres, among other flying-types. the drop in accuracy is a bit of a shame but it's really necessary for the amazing coverage that hjk + stone edge nets you. i would also really want you to use giga drain and chlorophyll > petal dance and own tempo respectively - while the power boost is tempting, petal dance locks you into an offensive move with meh coverage at best, and you can very easily get revenge killed by anything that resists grass.

252 hp / 252 spdef and calm > the respective spread and nature on slowking

stone edge > blaze kick on hitmonlee

giga drain and chlorophyll > petal dance and own tempo on lilligant

swords dance feraligatr > accelgor

hope i helped you at least a little bit, and gl with your team in the future! :toast:
