By having its Speed boosted by Choice Scarf, Rufflet becomes a dangerous revenge killer. A Jolly nature and Choice Scarf allows it to be faster than and 1HKO Haunter, Drakloak, and Eviolite Linoone-Galar. Brave Bird threatens the usual Fighting-type Pokemon like Gurdurr and Machoke, as well as fast Grass-type Pokemon like Roselia and Thwackely. With Close Combat, Rufflet can target Steel- and Rock-type Pokemon like Klang and Carkoal that may try and switch into its Flying STAB moves. Aerial Ace is great for its accuracy and lack of recoil; use it against Life Orb Haunter and Flame Orb Machoke instead of Brave Bird. U-Turn provides a pivoting attack so that Rufflet can switch out instead of taking heavy recoil damage, or instead of trying to predict what attack it should use.
Rufflet can sweep late-game with the extra speed, but cannot afford to be put in range of priority from Machoke and Gurdurr. Keep it healthy by having entry hazard prevention and removal from Magic Bounce Hattrem and Defog Gurdurr. In the same vein, entry hazard support from Piloswine, Roselia, and Charjabug help put more targets into range of Rufflet’s revenge killing, and can allow it to use its much more reliable Aerial Ace over Brave Bird. If Rufflet is locked into a resisted attack against the opposing Klang and Charjabug, switching Rufflet into a Ground-type like Pilowsine and Palpitoad can prevent these walls from using Volt Switch to pivot out. As Rufflet still loses to faster forms of speed control like Sneasel and Choice Scarf Haunter, having defensive pivots like Gurdurr and Ferroseed help prevent Rufflet itself from being revenge killed.

By raising its stats with Bulk Up and Agility, Rufflet becomes a destructive sweeper. It can set up on weaker physical attackers or walls like Gurdurr, Gloom, and Togetic, as with Eviolite and HP investment their attacks do little to Rufflet. Substitute offers status protection from Corsola-Galar and Mareanie, with these walls and more also having a hard time being able to break Rufflet’s Substitute. With 88 Speed EVs invested, Rufflet is able to naturally out speed Eviolite Hattrem and Machoke. This investment with Agility also makes Rufflet faster than Haunter and Linoone-Galar after setting up once. While Rufflet is still slower than Sneasel after an Agillity, by setting up with Bulk Up Rufflet can survive an Icicle Crash and 1HKO with Aerial Ace in return.
Rufflet relies on its bulk to set up multiple times, and without any recovery of its own, entry hazard countermeasures like Magic Bounce Hattrem and Defog Vullaby should be used to support it. Furthermore, Rufflet’s bulk can be boosted by Morgrem’s Light Screen and Reflect so that it may setup beyond what it would normally be capable of. Rufflet can still revenge kill slower and weakened attackers like Machoke and Gurdurr, which can also be an opportunity to bluff its Choice Band set so that the opponent may feel invited to bring their Corsola-Galar out. Without Fighting coverage, Rufflet has a hard time breaking Klang and Carkoal, and checks like these should be dealt with by Machoke and Palpitoad before Rufflet attempts to sweep.
