Hi, I'm Rufus. In this thread, I'll be offering battle-ready Pokemon. I don't really have anything particularly special to offer, but I love the little online competitions the games sometimes hold on the weekends, and it can be hard for people who don't already have breeding stock to prepare for them, so I hope I'll be able to help a little bit.

I used to be very active on Smogon, but one day, I got sick. I couldn't play Pokemon for a while, and afterwards when I could, I didn't want to. I tried to get back into it during gen 7, but it wasn't the right time. Earlier this year, I got a Switch, and fell in love with Pokemon like I never have before. And thanks to a certain someone, I got back into battling. So here I am.

I am distributing Pokemon in Sword and Shield.

  • All Pokemon in this thread are free (for now). Please also give them to others for free.
  • I don't provide the items. Items listed are a suggestion.
  • I don't have my own cloning tools so I'll either use AnuBirb or ask you to do it/find someone to do it.
  • Pokemon in this thread are bred or caught by myself unless otherwise specified.
  • My Pokemon may not have their moves PP-maxed.
  • I can change EVs and movesets for you before trading.
  • Please check Pokemon levels if using for anything other than online battle. In-game battle facilities don't automatically set to level 50.
  • If a Pokemon has a particular EV spread, I will mention the reason why. If no reason is mentioned, I either don't know or don't remember :^)
  • Important: Please no negativity in this thread. There's enough negativity about Pokemon in the Pokemon community and I don't want to see any of it here.

About me
  • I mainly play VGC/doubles so that's the format most of the Pokemon I breed are for.
  • I'm also very keen on in-game battle facilities (Battle Tower, RS) so that's what the rest of the Pokemon are for.
  • My favourite Pokemon is :charizard: but my partner Pokemon would be :indeedee-f:!
  • I (still) collect rareball Pokemon with the goal of catching collecting them all.

Custom Breeding Services​

I can breed any breedable Pokemon available in Sword and Shield. I won't obtain legendaries (for now). The price of this service is telling me how you do when you use your Pokemon! You can just give me a quick/rough update, I just like hearing about my Pokemon being used.

Use this to ask me to:
  • breed a Pokemon not listed here
  • breed a Pokemon listed with a different IV spread.

Don't use this to ask me to:
  • change the EV spread and moveset of an existing Pokemon (just ask me normally).
  • breed an existing Pokemon in a different Pokeball (sorry, but I don't want to do that).
  • obtain a shiny Pokemon (I don't fancy RNGing in gen 8).

Obviously I've bred many of these Pokemon with a team in mind, so here they are.

So it's not the most innovative team ever but I love it!! Seismitoad is the be(a)st. I mean, first of all, it's an anura standing on two legs. What more could you ask for? Secondly, the shiny colour scheme is amazing. Thirdly, its coverage is just amazing. If it was only a little faster than Venusaur without weather, or even the same speed tier ...! Anyway, the rest is pretty standard with almost all 252/252 EV spreads, I feel like it's pretty balanced overall. Struggles a bit against TR, so Whims has that to reverse it. I wish it had Taunt/Protect/etc. instead but I don't have any better ways of handling TR, esp with stupid Mental Herb stuff running around, so that's what it's got.

Okay, hear me out on this one. I know it looks crazy, but it's actually not a gimmick. Chlorophyll Whimsicott in the sun is so fast, your opponent won't be able to tell the difference until you've ejected their Yveltal. Okay so it's not as good as ejecting with Calyrex, which can hit both opponents and doesn't miss, and Whims is slower than Caly without sun ... okay, maybe it is a gimmick, but it's really fun! Anyway, everything else is mostly self-explanatory. Rilla helps with the Kyogre/Gastrodon match-ups and etc. I do sometimes wish I had screens or Intimidate somewhere here, but hey, no team is perfect. As a matter of fact, my biggest issue with this team is that it uses Groudon. That thing hates me. It misses like all the time. And that's the only reason I don't use this team more often.

Bog-standard ladder-climbing team for series 10. Works fine, but a bit lacking in creativity, eh? After the VGC Invitational, I mainly used Ryota Otsubo's Calyrex-Ghost-Rider team. Way more fun.


Online Competitions

Tiny Tourney

I initially wanted a Coaching team, so I messed around with several variations of mons using Coaching on Kubfu, and Kubfu using Coaching on mons. The Coaching part didn't really work out, but this is what I ended up with. The main Dynamax options are Kubfu and Rufflet as they can Dynamax any time to fire off big attacks. Swirlix can be very good as well if it gets even one boost. It can be replaced by Corsola-Galar if you prefer. Magnemite is basically an Electroweb machine, but its SpA stat is really great in this format. I've experimented with Elekid and Helioptile in its place, both with Choice Scarf, and they're also solid options. Eviolite can be moved around a bit if you adjust EV spreads accordingly, but I was really impressed by how well Grookey did with it, so it's holding it for now.

I think everyone should experience the joy sparked by a Dynamax Kubfu at least once in their lives.


Same Double Beat

In watching livestreams and competitions, I'd always been interested in how 50/50 Hatterene is. To me, it seems to either demolish the whole opposing team, or just fall flat on its face. When you see Hatterene, you know pretty much exactly what it's going to do, and you're either prepared for it or you're not. Trick Room is Hatterene's natural habitat, and in building around it, I ended up with a full TR team. Although there are many things that I would change about it now, I still had a really great run with this team and found it to be tons of fun. So much so that I used Hatterene, Indeedee, Metagross, and Conkeldurr in the Battle Tower afterwards, with all the changes I wanted to make during the competition.

Please bring this format back. Make it the next Battle Stadium ruleset. #banincineroar

This was the first online competition I participated in this gen so I kind of just went in for it. I thought 'I'm never going to have the chance to use 3 Cinderaces in one team ever again, so I gotta go for it, right?' Kind of. It didn't do that bad, but probably because everyone was messing around using whatever they wanted, and not because this team is any good.

If you've seen Coalossal in Doubles, you've seen this team before. Coalossal has 116 Speed EVs to outspeed Scarf Cinderace, the fastest Pokemon in the Battle Tower, after Steam Engine activation. That Cinderace is owned by Leon though, who is very much the only Trainer capable of screwing you over, and not in the way I want him to screw me over. Switching to Urshifu can help, sometimes, depending on what he leads. Over 100 battles, I got lucky. Apart from that, status on Dragapult was the only thing that bothered this team, so Dragapult has Lum Berry. If Coalossal unavoidably goes down, Cinderace takes over.

Basically my Same Double Beat team, but with improvements. This Conkeldurr has Iron Fist instead of Guts, as it doesn't need as much power in the Tower, and a safe switch in can be more important.

I wanted to use Sylveon because it's cute, but I also wanted to use Primarina because it's cute. They can both be run under Trick Room, and Mimikyu is a common TR setter. So a mono-Fairy team was born. All of these Pokemon are excellent Dynamax candidates. I usually Dynamax Sylveon, but sometimes Mimikyu sets up TR and then I just Dynamax that so Sylveon can keep firing off Hyper Voices. Other times, Mimikyu switches out after setting TR (or not setting TR depending on the opposing Pokemon) and its replacement can Dynamax or support Sylveon. Leon can sometimes, but not often, be an issue. To be honest, this is the best team I've used in the tower so far.

Fun fact: I played FIFTY BATTLES before I discovered my Primarina has no SpA EVs.:facepalm:
