RUGL season has officially kicked off with the reveal of managers and team names! The stage is set, the rivalries are brewing, and soon, the real battle will begin. Who’s looking strong? Who’s already cooking up a championship run? This is the place for all the hype, predictions, hot takes, and memes, so don’t hold back!

  • Players already in RUPL are encouraged to sign up for RUGL, but they can't play SV RU in RUGL if they were in their RUPL's team starting lineup for any tier by end of Week 4 RUPL. Subbing in mid-week does not count.
Can someone explain the rationale behind this rule? I do not understand why oldgens starters in RUPL would be restricted from playing SV in RUGL. I ask because our RUPL team has players who want to play SV in RUGL but apparently can't do so because they were a starter in oldgens for one week in RUPL. Sure, in theory we could circumvent this by subbing people in mid-week, but why are we making this more complicated for no reason?

:gengar: Hey hey, everyone! Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening… I have no clue what time you’re reading this, but here we go!

I’m super excited to announce that we’ll be holding tryouts for everyone! We’d also love to see any relevant replays and a little bit of your history in RU. I’ll be accepting tryout games for SS RU only, but my awesome partner Sir Tetris will accept all formats!

We’re on the lookout for new talent and dedicated players who are ready to give their best and stay committed to the tournament. Sooo… good luck to all of you! And please don’t be shy—if you have any questions, I’m happy to help! :)

I'm really happy NDRU has been given a chance to showcase a great tier and hope the playerbase will take advantage of this opportunity! Thanks to RU leadership for taking a chance on us! I'll be rooting for the Evil Genies as Squeeby is a good friend and am hoping things work out well for him. Also rooting for the Fez Clan because :fezandipiti: is the :gogoat:. Hoping for a fun tournament and it was interesting following RUGL I in the background last year and hope that this iteration only builds on that success!

Welcome to this installment of my pre-RU tour shoutouts where I tell the managers who's who in the pool because, believe me, these manager pairs could use the help.. :burro:. I really only plan on covering the SV players, which I have ranked below, and will update the list as new signups come in so enjoy!

SV1:
Seed Sower - Unbiased because of RUPL coman but seed is such a great teammate, builder, and aspiring player. Capable of piloting anything well, I think this RUGL will jumpstart seed's development from manager main to legit starter in future RU tournaments.
Jojen - Solid player, had an okay go in the last RUGL and has progressed since then with a good RUBD and seasonal. Will start in SV and put up a great record though I do not know personally if they build.
HoopsspooH - Glad you're back after the RUBD thing. Great builder and player, will be one of the top SV players available.
FastCarVroom!!! - I didn't really know their SV game until RUPL to be honest but they're legit. I think they will use this tour as a chance to springboard into more current gen stuff, looking forward to watching them here. And, as is the case with all my Cookers, they'll have me for help... just saying...

SV2:
Don Bork - My tutee (whom I've slacked on tutoring after his seasonal ended, rip... lets pick that back up...) is a solid player and developing builder. I think this tour is a great opportunity for him to get into a starters mindset with regards to prep and play, which I expect him to excel at.
akxhdwy - I admittedly don't know much about them, but they had a good seasonal run and if they're as good in a team environment as individuals I think they could be sneaky valuable here.
Queen of Bean - I liked QoB a lot last RUGL. Despite playing a less stable ADV at the time, they were a consistent and active member of the team and I know they contributed some ideas to our SV, so I'm rooting for them! Winners win and QoB is a winner, they'll do great here.
Kindyy - Sneaky good French player. They did well last RUGL and I am hyped to see them here, as a good run in this tour likely assures a big boost in their overall rating on my rufr power ranking. They did beat me last RUGL, if you care about that...
Charmriah - Solid player in a variety of metagames and is hanging out on the Guardians this RUPL, which means they're sure to have lots of teams to reference. Will be a good starter!
Hats - Another French player who I know has the potential to win a lot of games here. I don't know a lot about their building and team presence, but they play at a good level and will be a solid starter most likely.
pronto loco - Ladder hero that loads strong offensive teams. I don't think they use the forums or Discord much so the transition into a team tour may do them wonders; I know they can build and click well enough to thrive here.
Heatranator - If you know anything about the forums, PS room, or Discord, you know Heatranator. I think they've developed a lot the last year, but they're still growing too, so am excited to see how they do. Please for your own sake buddy don't spoil this, load solid teams and play solid lines!

SV3:
Elec-ant1234 - I've got a mild bias towards forum mains as one myself... but Elec is a steady presence in RU and I think their SV is at the point of playing in a tour like this. I'm really looking forward to seeing their transition from ladder player to tournament participant, as they can likely play at a good level if guided a bit about prep.
mestreoscar - Inventor of the :burro: emote I use in approximately 30% of my messages on Discord. Despite not really being an active presence in RU they keep up with the tier a fair amount and I expect my former tutee to pick it up and show their ceiling with some wins this tour. Whoever gets Oscar will have my undying support in their SV as well.
Adriyun - The big yapper. I think they'll do fine here if they end up playing SV, seems solid enough from tests as a builder and player.
Hyper bol - Good French player that I haven't seen a lot from recently but recall them being okay not too long ago.
Dead by Daylight - NatDex starter most likely, but okay player in SV based on some tryout games. I think as a cheap option in SV (assuming they don't ND) they could do well.

ZU Frauds:
Tuthur Toto - Okay, lumping these two together because they stink. Realistically they're the strongest players in the pool but neither will build a single team, which is okay if you can support them. Don't let btboy get Toto though, his server is already in shambles and I want to stay in it for the emotes.

I'm aware NatDex RU might be an unfamiliar tier to some of the managers so I thought I would help people out by giving people shouts so they can be picked up as helpers and players. I didn't put much effort into descriptions so just scream my ear off if I tagged u and its not accurate.

Dead by Daylight - Convince him not to spam webs and I think he does alright
Adriyun - Charmflash of NDRU
about15gals - Not a mainer but makes a lot of workable heat shit on demand and can revert back to more standard builds when necessary.
Big Chungus irl - Long time player and doesn't have a hard time making solid teams in the slightest, even though I disagree with some of his choices. Good pickup
db - Undefeated in regular season if he changes his name back to Derpyboi
Marss Barss - For the most part a builder that colors inside the lines, not a bad thing though.
Rafadude - Shown a lot of improvement during the last year as a player, great value for relatively low prices.
SapoDaG30 - I get this guy as a helper constantly. Really really chill dude who can play solidly and has a lot of diverse teambuilding ideas while not being a fisher.
sealoo - good clicker, knows enough about the tier to not struggle even tho I wouldn't exactly call him a mainer.
seth - Ngl whatever tier he wants to play he's typically fine in. Really really good clicker and has a vast amount of tier experience to be stuck on an island and not struggle.
Thiago Nunes - Must be paired with Flames Of Elixir as was stated in signups
Don Bork - Would pair with a helper just to keep his concepts grounded but still a solid clicker
Velcroc - Player with a lot of tenure. His playing skill is up to the task and has a large amount of experience in other RU tiers to be a good support in addition to playing NDRU
Kinzo - Why haven't you signed up yet, i'm gonna take you off council if you don't.
C0nfiden1 0yster - I'm C0nfiden1 that this player won't struggle super even though this is still a fairly new tier for them

tagging hosts because i need answers TheFranklin Feliburn

why is there no start date in a single one of these rugl threads. I have no idea when week one will be

also to answer seed's question, that rule probably exists because the new players/community members rugl is really for are most likely to want to play sv and people who have chances to start in rupl, even in old gens, are probably more established, not usually the people this kind of tournament was designed for imo, so it makes sense to reserve the slots for the newer players.

I guess my name has been brought up a few times recently so I should probably go ahead and address the allegations. I didn't want to do this because I hate when others do, which I've been vocal on a lot recently especially, but I've been left with no choice...

This RUGL, I will be looking to play any lower tier, but ideally ORAS. If you draft me to ORAS, I will not load a single Alomomola, Flygon, Registeel, or Venusaur. This isn't a meager attempt to pricefix or rig the system; I really am looking to solve this meta.

If you want me to help with SV, I am fine double checking pastes and offering ideas, but I do not plan on building any of the slots. There is a long list of people who deserve a chance to play SV especially this tour and I will not compromise their development for the sake of winning games.

If you want me to BW, I will most likely miss every Hustle X-Scissor, I will probably get farmed by unsets, and I will absolutely be spamming Specs Tangrowth because that's my guy.

I would like to ADV but, after deliberation with the people I respect in that tier, I am probably too ass to do so. What do you mean ALL Water moves are special? Where's my Choice Scarf's and Heavy-Duty Boots? Yeah, no, I can't figure out their last five mons in preview for sure so I will likely pass on that.

Don't force me to play NatDex, I've already fallen for that trap once.
