Huzzah! The best tournament on Smogon is back! This thread will be for me and my beautiful co-host Rarelyme to post decisions, manager prices, etc. Some general info is included below. The prize for winning this year will be a prestigious custom avatar! Each team will be composed of 14 players minimum (10 + 4 subs). They will have 140k to draft these players during the auction.

Each team will be able to perform ONE selbuy maximum and either one or two retains (or none). This means that managers can decide at most to retain two players (meaning no selfbuys) OR retain one player and selfbuy once. Note that players who managed last year cannot be retained.

Formula used to get the price of each managers:
Manager price = (P + 3) + 0.75 * # of wins last RUPL - 1 * # of loses last RUPL

P is the price of said player in their last RUPL capped at 17.
If they never played RUPL or if their calculated price is lower than 10, it defaults to 10. The result is rounded up.

Retains will be last year’s price + 3 or 10, whichever is higher.
Prices are in the thousands.
 
I know everyone is excited to see who will be managing this year. This year had the most packed roster of sign-ups and it was difficult to pick. I am excited to see what the player signups will look like!

The Deranged Hustlers have retained LpZ for 12.5k (remaining credits: 111k).
The Tenacious Technicians have retained zS for 10k (remaining credits: 104k).
The Party-Crashing Pranksters have retained lax for 11k (remaining credits: 109.5k).
The Rockies' Defiant Payloaders have retained THE_CHUNGLER for 10k (remaining credits: 120k).

Re: The Party-Crashing Pranksters retaining lax
Earlier today, lax asked for his signup to be deleted. Having previously agreed to be retained by the Party-Crashing Pranksters (and the auction being tomorrow), this is viewed as an unsportsmanlike conduct and constitutes an infraction. Therefore, lax is banned from RUPL's next edition.​

The Party-Crashing Pranksters decided to not retain anyone so they will be refunded.
 
The auction just concluded and as usual it's always great to see the extended RU community turn up and have fun around this crucial part of the tournament! Big shout-out to a fairy and all our wonderful casters Ming549, EviGaro, feen, eifo and Ampha who covered the event over on our YouTube channel!

Re: In regards to Amity vs SEA Week 2 ADV Bo3
I was not clear about the decision of myself and the other tds to not allow the Bo3. I apologize for the confusion. We are allowing the Bo3 to remain a valid win for the Toxic Chains but ask that going forward all Bo1 slots remain as Bo1.
Our reasoning for this is that these slots were defined as a Bo1. Multi-game series require more time, resources, and mental fortitude. Presumably, this is taken into account when drafting players for any Bo3 slot. This would set the precedent that other slots can become Bo3, Bo5, etc. and we believe this level of manipulation of the format is a degree higher than both players agreeing to forbid a Pokemon or other traditional gentlemanning. More Bo3 slots can be discussed for future RUPLs but as we started with the assumption of one Bo3 slot we are against allowing these kinds of individual changes for the remaining tournament.
