I actually made my team from a trutorial I made sadly.. Here is the team building process (the trutorial itself):

Intro

Without a balanced team, you will be slaughtered with ease. No one can use a single Lv. 100 and expect to win. Lv. 1s can beat lv. 100s. Genesect makes the perfect scouter and revenge killer. Haxorus crushes all Pokémon with an Outrage. Infernape and Lucario rage on in the most daring rivalries of all time. Sand and hail fly while a battle between a sunny day or a rainy day will rage on. Keldeo puts on Choice Specs to daunt any foe. To be able to survive competative play, you need a strong team that can shine. How do you make a team you ask? It is almost as if you were reading my mind. There is a simple four step plan that should answer that question...

Step 1. //Pick A Core//

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 148 HP / 252 SAtk / 108 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon

Haxorus (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 220 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Brick Break

A core is a group of two or three Pokémon that have great synergy with each other. With Haxorus having a deadly Outrage, great coverage, and a fantastic boosting move, he is the most lethal Pokémon out there. The one thing that gets in his way are Steel-types. Thanks to Magnezone's ability, Magnezone can switch into a Steel type, trap them, and kill them with Hidden Power Fire. That is a great example of synergy in action. Without some support, Haxorus could have lost a great amount of PP and hit points. Cores generally do more than this though. Haxorus doesn't need much help, because he is an Over Used power house. Most cores allow each member to take super-effective hits for the other because they can resist them. Slowbro and Amoongus have amazing synergy and can take hits from special attackers and physical. Just think of your core as your all stars. Don't make it a do-or-die game, but try to keep them fighting. You are really building your team around them after all.

Looking at these two, you would think that everything would be dead from the beginning, but that is never the case. You might lose these two Pokémon, so it is always good to have alternates. Since this team is offensive, It might be more practical to do a Physical Sweeper and a Special Sweeper. Remember, If your core members faint, these are the next best things to have. Don't use these Pokémon as sponges for hits to guard a single teammate. Even though your core is uber important, there is no I in team is there?

Step 2. //The Core Support//

Latios (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Roost

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- X-Scissor
- Sacred Sword

These two Pokémon have amazing synergy. Latios has an amazingly high Special Attack Stat matching with Terrakion's devastating Attack stat. With Dragon-type attacks and Fighting-type attacks paired together on these vicious critters, every Pokémon will be hit for Nuteral Damage. Not only do they hit every aspect of the metagame, they make a perfect replacement. To be honest, Magnezone is only used to get rid of Steel-types. He has a nice Special Attack stat, but it is dwarfed by Latios's. With Latios and Terrakion helping Magnezone and Haxorus, your team has a resistance or impunity to every type. This is really good to have. Your team hits both sides of the spectrum and blows everything away with daunting assults. You are that much closer to being done with your team.

Step 3. //Lead and Lead Support//

Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 8 Atk / 248 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- U-turn
- Ice Beam
- Bug Buzz
- Thunderbolt

Dugtrio (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Sucker Punch
- Reversal

Genesect is the lead of choice for this team. He can scout the opponent's team and allow you to switch in without losing momentum. Then you could sweep with his teammates' potential. Dugtrio is primarily to counter Tyranitar and anything that comes close to Genesect. He also can get some damage in on Ninetales, a lead for summoning a drought. Dugtrio is a body guard in a sense. Since Genesect is going to be using U-turn on the first turn, He is probably my best late-game cleaner. His blazing speed and well rounded offensize (with Download) makes a got last touch on a cake. There you have it, you made a team. Now we can finally get to the best part of team building. I hope it is pretty odvious what the last step is.

Step 4. //Adapt and Test//

It is really important for a trainer to test his team. Many of his strategies may have sounded good on paper, but they might not actually work out. Also, many new threats come in by the day. If the teirs keep moving like they do, Arceus will be in OU by generation six! All sarcasm aside, you need to change over time. If you don't sharpen your saw, it is harder for you to cut wood. Your 'saw' is this team and the 'wood' is the metagame. Don't get me wrong, if the wood is two hard, you will take all day to cut the tree right? The Defensive teams are some of the worst competition to face at times. Practice and adaption are a competative player's best friend.

This team has some epic synergy, because it was all planned out. It was planned to fight the worst, and get the best possible. See, making your team isn't that bad. With more effort your team can have better colors than this chart:

Outro

The importance of each battle is that the probability is unpredictable. I surely didn't expect Garchomp to come down to OU. No matter what teir you are in, this planning process is great to use. You will need power in your belt and planning gives you all the power in the world... in Pokémon at least. Well, just remember to live your dreams folks and never forget your Origin Story...
