Salamence will prevail!

Hello people of smogon. If any of you reading this are active on the strategy chat on pokemon showdown you will definately know who i am. This team was created because salamence has always been my favourite dragon type, so i decided to make a team around eliminating salamences counters and checks so it can come in DD up and sweep. Hope you all enjoy reading and i will cover why i chose these specific mons over other pokemon before you ask me to change something so lets get the carpet rolling shall we?
The Biatches :D
373.gif
item: Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
Moves:
1. Dragon Dance
2. Outrage
3.Earthquake
4.Fire Blast
EV's: 252atk/252spe/4SpAtk
Nature: Hasty
Salamence once so good last generation it go moved to ubers because it was that good. I went for the DD set as I always personally like to build my teams around my setup sweepers. the lum berry is there mainly for Outrage confusion but it ends up curing burns from scald. max attack and speed so i get the quickest and hardest hitting salamence possible with the hasty nature so fireblasts power isn't decreased due to jolly.
479-w.gif
Item: Leftovers
Ability: levitate
Moves:
1. Volt Switch
2.Hydro pump
3. Will-o-wisp
4. Pain Split
EV's: 232Hp/56SpAtk/220Spd
Nature:Modest
If this thing wasn't in the team then tyranitar would run rampant over me. aswell as keldeo and gliscor and landorus(both of them). volt switch is there for momentum and it OHKO's politoed which is awesome. hydro pump and will-o-wisp are there for the grounds and TTar as well as many physical attackers, i did consider starmie but the voltswitch is just too good with scizor and i have forretress for spinning. Also this washing machine can no longer be pursuited thanks to being water electric now. wooooooooo
485.gif
Item: Life orb
Ability: Flash Fire
Moves:
1.Fire Blast
2.Earth Power
3. Hidden power Ice
4. Stealth Rock
EV's: 252HP/4SpDef/252Spd
Nature:Timid
ahh heatran my steel killer, magnezone killer, MAMOSWINE KILLER (trust me mamoswine would own if it wasn't for tran) this thing outspeeds adamant mamo... or some people run weird EV's on mamo... but this thing forms a nice offensive and defensive core with rotom-w and of course eliminates mamoswine.
212.gif
Item: Choice Band
Ability: Technician
Moves:
1.Bullet Punch
2. Pursuit
3.U-Turn
4. Superpower
EV's: 248HP/252Atk/8Spd
Nature: Adamant
This thing is glue... not literally... but seriously i don't really need to give a full depth explanation to why i've stuck the most used pokemon in OU onto my team.
205.gif
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Moves:
1.Rapid Spin
2. Spikes
3.Volt Switch
4. Gyro Ball
EV's: 252HP/252Def/4SpDef
Nature: Relaxed
right this is an interesting option as it was either this or ferro and since i really needed a spinner not named starmie i decided forretress was the better of the two. however i do have 4 fire resists so the double bug/steels i have isn't a problem. However this thing is barely used just because my battles are normally only needing stealth rock but is useful :)
381.gif
Item:Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Moves:
1. Draco Meteor
2.Psyshock
3. Surf
4.Trick
EV's: 252SpAtk/252Spd/4SpDef
Nature:Timid
Scarfed latios? yes thats right and damn is it effective as it can outspeed many +1 pokemon and kill them with the appropriate move. This is my check to keldeo mainly but is also an amazing revenge killer. I've been debating about swapping this for a scarfed Gengar because i need a spin blocker but Latios gives me much more with the moves it has over Gengar.
Well hopefully you have enjoyed this. I hit 1500 rating the other day ( amazing i know -.-) with this team and it's very effective and i'm getting alot of wins with it. the only problem is that gastrodon is a little troublesome when i run into it but a proper prediction can beat it and it'll take a draco to the face :D Please do tell me some improvements and i'll try them then after a while i'll post the final version :) Thank you everybody on the Strategy chat on PS for the support when it comes to helping everyone who needs team building help as it's nice to know you guys on there think i'm actually good at this game :D

Hello,

This team seems relatively solid because you have good backup to Salamence in the form of Rapid Spin, Ice Shard resists, and a revenge killer in Latios that can help pick off faster threats. As such, I don't really want to change much with the structure of this team, as the pokemon that are on here seem to fit nicely with one another. I would watch out for rain teams as pokemon such as Keldeo that can wear a lot of things down such as Rotom-W and Latios, who can't keep switching into boosted Hydro Pumps under Rain, Secret Swords, or Icy Wind in the case of Scarf Latios. In the case of Gastrodon, I can see how you struggle a little bit if it were to switch in on Rotom. Ferrothorn might be an option over Forretress as spinners aren't always necessary, but with Salamence in the wings I think you would really like to keep your Forretress.

You mentioned that Forretress is a little dead weight on your team, and one option that Forretress can run to get your offense going and to get an extra layer of entry hazards up is to run Custap. There are some perks and some flaws to running Custap -- a positive would be that you would be able to get an extra entry hazard up on average thanks to the Sturdy+Custap combination, and this extra turn can help you get the extra damage you need from Spikes. Running Custap, you would also replace Volt Switch with Toxic Spikes, which would help you against teams running Gastrodon, since Gastrodon absolutely hates Toxic Spikes. You can run Explosion over Gyro Ball to get the surprise damage on pokemon that normally would try to pick it off such as Keldeo, thus netting you an entry hazard plus a kill most of the time when you use Forretress. Lastly, Custap Forry has priority Rapid Spin in clutch situations. If you absolutely need rocks out of the equation for a mence sweep, then now you have it. However, on the downside, it is getting more increasingly obvious when people run Custap Forry because of the lack of Leftovers, and it dies relatively quickly. However, I don't think that should deter you from trying it out, because Custap Forry helps you keep your offense going. By sacking it, you can bring in whatever pokemon you like after Forretress faints, and you can begin your offensive rampage accordingly.

Also, I'd recommend Naive over Hasty on Salamence, as priority moves are almost always physical. The last thing you need is a Lucario, Dragonite, Scizor to just come in and pick you off with Extremespeed/Bullet Punch when you are attempting a sweep. Salamence with Naive won't exactly be tanking those hits like a champ anyway, but it's better than Hasty because you have more defense against priority attacks that way.

Lastly, consider running HP Grass on Heatran. Heatran doesn't have many opportunities to switch into Gastrodon, but the presence of a Grass move just helps so much when dealing with Gastrodon. If you can bring in Heatran after something on your team has fainted (like Forry, maybe), then you can scare Gastrodon out with HP Grass or even kill it if it chooses to stay in. Also, you might want to use max special attack instead of max HP on that Heatran, especially if it's running Life Orb. You don't want to sacrifice HP that you invest EVs in on power which you don't invest in, it's a bit counterproductive. When you run Life Orb you want to hit as hard as possible -- and so, running max special attack would work over running max hp.

In short, my suggestions were Naive>Hasty on Mence, HP Grass> HP Ice on Heatran, and Custap + Toxic Spikes / Explosion Forretress. Try them out if you want, I hope my changes were nothing too dramatic.

Good luck with this team; hope I helped. =)

I think LO was actually a miss click
As I wanted leftovers so I need to change that :) and I'm not a fan of suicide personally :) and I'll be sure to know then guys out before they can come in :)

Hey man,

This is pretty cool team, but there are a few weaknesses. Focus Sash Alakazam is a threat, and can hit your Scizor with Hidden Power [Fire]. Mamoswine weakens this team significantly, and finally, you have nothing for Swords Dance Breloom with Fighting Gem, since weakened Latios will be KOed by +2 Fighting Gem Mach Punch. Using Latias > Latios won't hurt a bit, since it allows you check Sun Teams, especially Venusaur, who 6-0s this team, even with Heatran thanks to Dugtrio partners. Using Air Balloon > Life Orb won't hurt that much, since you can escape Dugtrio and defeat Mamoswine with a little prior damage. It also lets you counter Donphan who can wall this team, and snipe your Salamence for the 2HKO with Ice shard. Latias should run a set of Draco Meteor | Psyshock | Hidden Power Fire | Recover with 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe and Timid Nature. This allows you to take Venusaur's Sludge Bomb comfortably. You lose your Choice Scarf user, but Latios is a really bad Choice Scarf user now, since it is absolute set-up bait, and its weak coverage make it undesirable. It doesn't even outpace Timid Venusaur, so t kind of sucks.

Now that you lose your Choice Scarf user, switch Salalemnce to a Choice Scarf set of Outrage | Dragon Claw | Fire Blast | Earthquake. Choice Scarf Salamence can start of Moxie sweeps without set-up, so that's awesome. Considering that Salamence will be outpaced by other Choice Scarf users, running Thunder Wave > Will-O-Wisp because they have great synergy, and using it on something like Keldeo locked into Hidden Power [Ice] means dead Keldeo, and you can sweep the opponent, again. You should run Hidden Power Ice > Gyro Ball, since it prevent it from being st-up bait, one of the main problems of Forretress being a mediocre spinner. 48 SpA EVs will be needed to 2HKO Landorus-T and Garchomp, though, so you'll have to switch that.

I'm not really a fan of 8 Spe Scizor, since U-turning first against opposing is actually worst than 30 Spe IV Scizor, since you get the U-turn advantage! That makes prediction much easier. So, 30 Spe IVs + 0 Spe EVs > 8 Spe EVs.

Good Luck, man.

Had no problems with venusaur yet at all and the whole point of this team is dd mence... So changing the whole point of a team is stupid IMO but he LO on heat ran was a mistake was meant to be a balloon

Sorry that came off really badly...and I didn't know hat about uturn so thanks :) I'll have to ply more sun to test the vs I stuff

First of all. Great team. Glad you didn't steal it like most people out there.
Rain based teams are really hard to face. Especially since no one can tank Hydro Pumps or Surf continuously. The one threat that pops up is Choice Scarf Keldeo in the rain. With STAB Hydro Pump would be doing a lot of damage. To fix this give Rotom scarf and change Latios into Latias Specs.
One specs Draco Meteor is enough to OHKO Keldeo on the spot and with latias already great speed and great ability to tank hits latias is a great choice for this team.

Try this awesome set.

Latias (F) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Sleep Talk

Sleep talk stops Venasaur from sleep powder and a Specs Draco or Psyshock is a definite OHko. Hidden Power fire is for opposing Scizor or Magnezone which is seen quite alot in the ladder.

Good luck.

thank you for the help but i find that my latios will outspeed and kill pony everytime with a psyshock so he's not too much of a problem at the moment but when i hit like the 2000 i'll be sure to pop that suggestiojn into the team and try it out :)
