[SET]
Samurott-Hisui @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Name: Swords Dance (Dark)
Ability: Sharpness
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sacred Sword / Ceaseless Edge
- Aqua Cutter / Ceaseless Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance
[SET COMMENTS]
Hisuian Samurott serves as an excellent offensive presence on Dark teams with its great secondary Water typing and access to Swords Dance, which enables it to break through otherwise annoying threats for Dark teams like Hatterene and Archaludon. Sacred Sword enables Hisuian Samurott to check problematic Steel- and Dark-types like Archaludon and Weavile. Aqua Cutter easily breaks through Ground- and Fire-types such as Ting-Lu, Heatran, and bulky Gouging Fire. Ceaseless Edge provides Spikes support while dealing solid damage to targets like Water Absorb Clodsire and Gholdengo. Sucker Punch helps to offset Hisuian Samurott's average Speed, enabling it to remove foes like Dragapult, Flutter Mane, and Excadrill after Swords Dance and Spikes chip damage.
Meowscarada serves as an excellent teammate to Hisuian Samurott, threatening Water-types that wall it like Primarina and Urshifu-R with Choice Band Flower Trick and checking foes like Choice Scarf Enamorus with Choice Scarf Triple Axel. Ting-Lu provides solid defensive support by handling Electric-types such as Raging Bolt and Sandy Shocks as well as strong special attackers like Terapagos. Hydreigon assists Hisuian Samurott by providing a Grass resistance and using its powerful special attacks to blow through physical walls like Archaludon and Rotom-W. Choice Specs Greninja complements Hisuian Samurott thanks to its incredible coverage allowing it to check Fighting-types like Iron Valiant and Sneasler with Extrasensory or Grass-types like the Ogerpon formes with Sludge Wave. Sableye's immunity to Fighting-type attacks enables it to handle Skarmory and Hisuian Lilligant. Sableye also acts as a spinblocker against foes such as Great Tusk, ensuring that Hisuian Samurott's Spikes from Ceaseless Edge stay up throughout a game. Alolan Muk supports Hisuian Samurott with its high Special Defense and Poison typing that enables it to take on Fairy- and Grass-types like Flutter Mane and Hydrapple. Additionally, Alolan Muk can use Knock Off to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from the likes of Amoonguss and Forretress, making them susceptible to chip damage from Hisuian Samurott's Spikes. Bisharp can remove dangerous Fairy-types like Clefable and Galarian Weezing and punishes Defog from Mandibuzz attempting to remove Hisuian Samurott's Spikes. If Hisuian Samurott does not run Ceaseless Edge, Mandibuzz can provide Defog support, which is especially helpful if Hisuian Samurott loses its Heavy-Duty Boots. Additionally, Mandibuzz can use U-turn to bring Hisuian Samurott in safely.
