Sand Core

Hello there smogon! I decided to try out a sandstorm team that i created. I noticed that The Tar/Kel/Lando core is really dangerous so i wanted to try to make a team out of it. I also noticed that Volt-turn really helped me in making this team. I hope you guys like it^^

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Trait:Sand stream
EVs 180 hp / 252 atk / 76 spd
Adamant Nature
-Stone edge
-Crunch
-Pursuit
-SuperPower
Oh boy, here comes choice band tyranitar. He's here to set up the sandstorm and also eliminate Landorus I and Keldeo's counters. He can Bait latios or latias to come in and trap it with pursuit.
252 atk was certain so it could 2hko latias with pursuit. I putted 76 ev's in speed so it can speed tie a 4 speed politoed (Barring the fact that it isnt choice scarf). 76 speed ev really worked on it as i was able to win two speed ties and 2hko a politoed with Stone Edge

Landorus-I @ Life orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs 252 sp.atk / 252 speed / 4 atk
Naive Nature
-Earth power
-Focus blast
-Hidden power Ice
-U-turn
Here comes landorus, another member of the threaded core. It is known to be broken because It can use U-turn out his counters (Mainly latias/latios) and pursuit bait them with Tyranitar. I chose to use Naive nature since if i were to use a timid nature, Then there wouldn't be a guaranteed chance to 2hko a latias. 252 speed allows me to outspeed 100 base speed pokes (Celebi and jirachi are the most common ones). Landorus was a huge threat once a took out the opponents latios as nothing could switch into it safely.

Lil'Pwny (Keldeo) @ Choice Scarf
Trait:Justified
Evs 252 sp.atk / 252 spd / 4 hp Max iv: 30 atk / 30 def
Timid nature
-Hydro pump
-Secret Sword
-Hidden power ice
-Surf
Oh keldeo, or what i like to call him: Lil'Pwny. He is the last member of the Tar/Lando/Kel core. Hydro pump will be dealing heavy damage even though the rain isn't up. Once jellicent and tentacruel are gone, then keldeo can wreck havoc. I decided to put HP Ice over HP electric because i already have a counter to gyarados which is Rotom-W and Surf> icy wind since i dont want to risk myself missing icy wind. I was also thinking of putting in HP ghost instead but that ruins its revenge killing without an ice type move.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EV's 252 hp / 236 sdef / 20 spd
Careful nature
-Iron head
-Wish
-U-turn
-Stealth rocks
Jirachi, One of the most annoying pokes that you could face. He is my main stealth rocker on my team. I decided to put U-turn>Body slam because I think that Jirachi+Rotom-W makes a excellent Volt-turn combo by covering each other weakness. Iron head is certain on this set as it is her STAB and that flinch rate is really annoying. Wish is there to keep my momentum going with U-turn
479-wash.gif

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs 232 hp / 220 speed / 56 sp.atk
Modest Nature
-Will-o-wisp
-Volt Switch
-Hydro pump
-Hidden power ice
Here is rotom wash. Him and jirachi makes a great Volt-turn combo in my eyes. Instead of me doing a specially defensive one (Since i have jirachi), I went for the bulky attacker set. WoW Is obviously there to hinder Physical sweepers. Hidden power ice is there to help kill those dragon types. Volt switch is there to uttilise the volt-turn combo and it's a good check to keldeo, gyarados and other potent threats. I putted 56 sp.atk ev so i can ensure that i could OHKO gyarados (Without stealth rocks being there)

Latios @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs 252 sp.atk / 252 speed / 4 hp
Timid Nature
-Draco Meteor
- Hidden power Fire
-Psyshock
-Surf
The last, and certainly not the least, Latios. He is my main special sweeper on my team. With Choice specs, It can wreak havoc on majority of pokes. Draco Meteor is his main move here by destroying pokes in his path. Hidden power fire is there to kill Ferrothorns, Scizors, and forretress. If a blissey wants to switch in into my latios, well psyshock says Hi. Surf is there to kill Both Landorus form's that could be a threat to my team. I just randomly picked latios as it covers all of rotom-W and jirachi weakness which is great.

CONCLUSION:
Thanks smogon users for taking a look at my RMT^^. I hope this is a great sandstorm team that i created. Threats that i see to my team are U-turn Landorus , Expert belted keldeo and venusaur. Please let me know what i should add/remove from my team^^

Hi, the reason why no one rated this team is probably because it is some kind of "cookie cutter" team. I mean, Keldeo+Ttar+Lando with Jirachi as Steel type, Latios as Dragon and Rotom-W is pretty much the most common thing ever.
However, I feel like there are some flaws, I assume that their presence is due to the way you built the team. I mean, outside of the Keldeo+Landorus+Ttar, I don't see any real pattern, and your descriptions are lacking in terms of justifications. Saying that you put Jirachi + Rotom-W just to form a Volt/Turn combo doesn't seem like a deeply thought decision in terms of team building.
I'm not criticizing, because your team probably works well, it's not like you're using Nasty Plot Infernape, you're abusing Top OU pokemons, but I think the way you put them together doesn't follow the line of logic a team builder should follow.

Okay, nuff said about the my global feeling on the team, let's move to the weaknesses :

- Terrakion/Lucario. When you play Ttar/Keldeo/Lando core, there is an absolute rule to follow in my opinion, which is to always have a guarantee against those sweepers. Why ? Because what's the point of trapping Latias, Jellicent, Celebi and such, when right after, your whole team gets destroyed by something setting up peacefully on a locked Ttar. Luke at +2 can kill almost anything once they've been weakened. I'll take Landorus as example -ExtremeSpeed: 75.86 - 89.34%-, so if you bring Landorus once on SR, then U-Turned out, next time you're gonna switch in and take SR again, you're in the KO range ! It's even worse for Sub/Salac Terrakion, here you're just shamelessly swept given the lack of priority in your team (or you can just win the speed tie with your Keldeo, I hope you trained him well). There are several ways of fixing that issue, I'll provide you with one that suits your team the best.

- Volcarona is a chronic disease for this team's archetype. It's pretty "hard" to fix actually. Let's say Keldeo Scarf is your best bet, definitely a shaky answer though. The LO all-out version can take a HPump full Keldeo at +1 if it's perfectly healthy and then manage to sweep everything with Fire/Grass/Bug coverage.

- Keldeo, as you said. The fact is, you got nothing to take big HPumps under Rain, like absolutly nothing since your Rotom-W is Modest.

So, let's keep also in mind that you admit having issues with Venusaur Sun teams, although, I think that you could overcome it by playing carefully with Ttar and Latios.

The changes :

- Basically, the first issue comes from the fact that this Ttar can be locked into something. Switch his CB to an Expert-Belt and you will be able to neutralize Lucario/Terrakion's sweep, or at least you can make sure they don't boost on your poor helpless Pursuit/Crunch locked Ttar.

- The second issue is trickier, but Ttar could also be helpful in this situation. You'd need to change the set to a bulkier Ttar, able to take a +1 Bug Buzz. Honnestly, your Ttar has only a limited value as Pursuiter given the presence of U-Turn Lando (Celebi), U-Turn Jirachi (Lati@s) and Rotom-W (Jellicent, who is already pressured hard by Latios/Lando).

- For the HPump spamming issue, you could simply go with a bulkier Rotom-W, but you underline Keldeo as a threat, so I'd rather change Latios to a bulky Latias, that should help you aswell for Venusaur.

I dislike this Rotom-W set here, I feel like Jirachi just had a ton to do (Wish+SR+U-Turn) and I find the lack of Body Slam a bit annoying, but it seems to be your personal choice, so whatever.
I hope I helped, here are the Latias and Ttar sets.

THE SETS :

Tyranitar_Repo_by_derikvyreflame.jpg

Tyranitar @ Expert Belt
Sand Stream
248 HP / 164 Atk /88 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful / Sassy Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Superpower

You can put Fire Blast in here if you want, thus the possible Sassy nature. I didnt want to play Ice Beam because the coverage is pretty redundant with Stone Edge, and you need SE for Volcarona (I mean, that's pretty much the point).

Latias @ Life Orb
Levitate
192 HP / 64 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psychock
- Roost
- Healing Wish / Thunder Wave

The last move depends on your personal liking, I can see Healing Wish being really useful given the poor reliability of Jirachi's heal and the way your team work (you need Ttar healthy to check stuff, you need Rotom-W healthy to check stuff etc.).

Good luck with your team.

TL;DR :
Ebelt on Ttar with a bulkier spread
Bulky LO Latias over Latios

Hey BiggumsFamily, nice team. It's a pretty standard Tylandeo core, so not much to say about that. The VoltTurn core with Jirachi and Rotom-W is interesting, though.

You mentioned that you have trouble against Venusaur. It's true that this team lacks a solid counter to Venusaur (and sun teams in general, since you lack a switch-in to things like Scarf/Band Victini or Darmanitan). An easy solution to this would be to switch out Latios for Life Orb Latias. Latias will help you survive an onslaught by Venusaur, since it can tank a +2 Sludge Bomb and KO back with Psyshock. It can also help with Ebelt Keldeo, you just have to be careful and make sure you don't switch in on an Icy Wind. So long as you do that, you can beat it and prevent it from doing too much damage to your team. Obviously you have to watch out for Tyranitar in situations like these, but Latios has to do that anyway.

I hope I was able to help, good luck with the team!
