Hi again! Today I wanna try with a Sand based Team, with Garchomp-Mega (which is one of my favourite pokémons).
Basically I'm here because I can't really decide the evs spreads of my pokémons, especially of the wallers of the team.
Stap talking, the guys are:
Ripster (Garchomp) (M) @ Garchompite
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Fire Fang
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Totally standard moveset, not much to say about it. ability in pre-mega is sand veil over rough skin, cause it makes easy to set up or switch into moves with low accuracy even without the veil, like focus blast magmastorm or hydro pump. With a little bit of hax, I dodged lovely ohko moves like icebeam from a greninja and from a mega latias (both followed by sweet "hAx NoOb U sUcK grlfbrlprr") or shitty moves like this
Bertha (Hippowdon) (F) @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Toxic
One of the three walls of the team. Probably the most precious cause of the sand. Standard sand setter, with standard evs spread, with standard moveset.
Her best role is to toxic fat pokémons that stay in, against this hippo, like Lead-lando or rotom. Heatran killer (I really cannot understand WHY people think it is a good idea ALWAYS to let tran stays against hippowdon)
Big Daddy (Excadrill) (M) @ Steelium Z
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
Sand abuser. Really standard copy-paste from smogon. Ohko Lando with a Z-move after half sword dance (thanks intimidate. Seriously Mr.Smogon, please ban Landorus-T) and is a perfect switch-in against tapu-koko.
He loses hard unfortunately against zapdos, celesteela and rotom in particular, but is probably the best sweeper in this team (without these three guys, obv or a superealthy damn kartanal).
He works as a spinner of the team when change pokémons start to be critically dangerous (part time job, I usually set more entry hazard, so foes defog for me most of the time)
Calendraika (Celesteela) @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 104 Def / 156 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Heavy Slam
- Flamethrower
Second wall of the team. A nice answer against kartana, tapu bulu and almost 50% of all the meta.
Super standard moveset as usual, evs are for a better defensive answer vs medicham and hawlucha. She can still wall tapu lele and alakazam pretty well tho, (if healthy enough on the switch)
No much more to say, this girl is super over used (not at lando level of course. Hope it burns to death) and we all know how can she be annoying.
KiraZ (Greninja) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Water Shuriken
- Dark Pulse
- Surf
Another (yawn) standard pokémon. Fits particularly well in this team because of the high amount of chip damage that sand teams usually do. (easy activation of battle bond)
He helps chipping opponents with spikes, and late game sweeping (appreciates early wallbreaking of garchomp and sometimes of excadrill).
I like also his dark type, which offers a solid answer against Reuniclus, which could be really hard to deal with if not properly managed.
Oh, surf over hydro pump. Seriously I have bad reactions on misses, and I have an expensive smartphone (stonemiss on garchomp and leech seed got enough chances to smash it on the floor. 80% is the new 50%)
Scarlett (Toxapex) (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Recover
- Toxic Spikes
- Knock Off
- Scald
Basically her role is to prevent charizard Y from incinerate my whole team.
Nice with greninja as well.
I used shed shell over black sludge, cause heatran can be problematic sometimes, but dark pulse from greninja ash could be as well, or maybe worst, without the not negligible 6% recovery of bs.
Knock off is mostly for chansey and greninja's specs.
I sometimes miss haze when i meet volcarona, but i can manage her pretty well with stealth rock and water shuriken.
Toxic spikes over toxic cause i love hazard, but again, i miss toxic sometimes.
Well that's it. This team is mostly totally made with "team options" under smogon's garchomp mega, I know, but it is nice to have a fast review here from you guys, especially for the evs of hippo-cele-pex.
I'm always testing new teams, and I'm back from 1850p to 1600p, so unfortunately I cannot really say if this team works well. Also I still have to take some confidence with it (I sometimes have hard time dealing with celesteela, rotom and, Idk how since I got plenty of earthquakes, toxapex.. Switching into scald can be scary, )
Ook, thanks to everybody! And sorry for the missing sprites but I still dont get what I have to copy-paste QQ.
