So I was interested in dd Tyranitar and decided to make a sand team to abuse many of the strong sand abusers types in the OU tier. The team is:
Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 176 Def / 80 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Iron Head
- Crunch
- Dragon Claw
This is the reason this team exists. With sand stream it has a solid special defense and the EVs in def lets it hit 300 def. Switching in on a Forretress or other setup fodder lets you get an easy 2 boosts under your belt letting you OHKO a lot of pokemon.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Toxic
This guy is here to soak up a lot of the mach punches and steal momentum away from the opponents. You can then U-Turn out on the possible switch of the opponent or Knock Off the item of the possible switch ins. I carry toxic to help break some common set up sweepers that don't care about my attacks.
Magnezone @ Life Orb
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Thunder Wave
- Volt Switch
Trapping Skarmory and walling Ice types is what I have Magnezone for. Skarmory breaks down this team with whirlwind and its high def. Stopping it from switching out is half the battle and this is what I need to stop. This is probably the most likely mon to be gotten rid of.
Hippowdon @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 8 Def / 248 HP / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Slack Off
- Whirlwind
Just a mixed wall that runs Sand Stream to keep up the sand storm. Helps wall some pokemon later on that I might not be able to take care of.
Excadrill @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Brick Break
- Return
Revenge killer. Fast when under sand and with CB it doesn't need to waste a turn Swords Dancing. Brick Break and Return are for coverage, Earthquake and Iron head are its too STABs that both hit like a truck.
Nidoking (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower
Well this team needed a special attacker with more coverage so I opted for Nidoking. It has a lacking SAtk but with specs it becomes a good wall breaking OHKOing Forretress and 2HKOing Sylveon. It is quite the wall breaker for this team.
