Other Metagames Sandless Streamers (Ground Monotype)

Hi again! So this is something that requires a lot of thinking beforehand, since you don't get a lot of the power that you get when you are using Hippowdon with a ground team, but this team is still insanely strong and has won some decent games. Without further ado...

mamoswine.gif

Mamoswine @ Choice Band
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Spear / Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

Easily my revenger, anti-grass, Dragon, and Flying mon. Once Skarmory is off of the field, Mamoswine can deal serious damage with Ice Shard or Icicle Spear. I prefer Icicle Spear over Crash, since it can prevent Dragonite from setting up and taking advantage with Weakness Policy. Also, the move can change the game, since Crash could land a 2HKO, but Spear OHKOs it. Knock Off can get some nifty 2HKOs and OHKOs, whilst providing an item loss.

landorus.gif

Landorus @ Life Orb / Choice Scarf
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Rock Slide
- Earth Power
- Focus Blast
- Sludge Wave

Probably one of the most common sets in Monotype for Landorus-I. Rock Slide helps against the flying matchup as well and it handles Ice to some extent. Earth Power is amazing STAB and with Sheer Life Orb, it demolishes pokemon. Focus Blast an amazing anti-Skarm move that 2HKOes it. It helps against Ice, Steel, and Dark matchups. Choice Scarf is a secondary item that would help against some Scarfed mons that would wrecked it otherwise.

seismitoad.gif

Seismitoad @ Assault Vest
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Modest Nature
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave / Sludge Bomb / Icy Wind
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Since I tend to go on the more offensive path, I decided to go with Seismitoad with Assault Vest to provide some bulk that I need, while giving me with some good offensive presence. Moveset is pretty common with it. Sludge Bomb (if you want PSN), Icy Wind if you want something to lower speed.

excadrill.gif

Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head

Decent setup sweeper with amazing coverage. Mold Breaker is to hit Rotom-Wash and other Levitate mons that could ruin Exca's day. It also stops Sturdy user. Swords Dance to boost its already amazing attack stat to deadly power.

golurk.gif

Golurk @ Weakness Policy
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Dynamic Punch
- Earthquake
- Rock Polish

This one I get the most grief about. Most people think it just has a niche as a spinblocker and Stealth Rock setter, but a lot of people overlook its decent bulk and high attack stat. To play with Golurk properly, you need Rock Polish to boost is 55 Speed to something usable and it's only outspeed by a couple mega evolutions and off scarfs. With the infamous EdgeQuake and Dynamic Punch in the mesh, it becomes an unresisted king that provides amazing coverage. It also has nifty immunities to Fighting and Normal, which the latter can deal some damage on.

garchomp.gif

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance

No team nowadays isn't complete without a hazard setter sadly, but this team needs one to break Sashes. I also thought I needed a phazer to stop sweeps. With its ability to punish contact users, its amazing. It's "core" of SeismChomp is needed to help with its counterpart's 4x weakness. This set just hits on some good STAB and status moves to bring the power to score a couple of KOs.

Anything question, ideas, feel free to ask. Have a good day/night/whatever!

Very cool Idea and I've tinkered around with the idea of sandless ground before here are a couple suggestions I can make based on my experience with sandless ground.

Golurk isn't really doing your team that many favors other than maybe taking 1 super effective hit and taking out 1 Pokemon then getting killed by priority. I recommend Mega Camerupt which helps the team immensely vs Charizard-Y and grass types which can be trouble for your team. Not many grass type teams want to switch into a sheer force STAB Fire Blast. It also provides the Wil-o-Wisp status or the Toxic status to your team which can be very useful. This change mainly helps patch up your weakness to Charizard-Y Sun Teams and Grass Teams.

Excadrill isn't doing much for this team due to this team being a sandless Ground type Monotype. I recommend an offensive Stealth Rocking Krookodile which frees up a moveslot on Garchomp giving it the ability to run other sets that will benefit your team. Excadrill just seems like baggage especially if it's niche is not used in rapid spin, although your team is not weak to rocks so Excadrill becomes even more unnecessary. Krookodile also has the useful ability,Intimidate, which helps make up for the teams lack of physical bulk without Tank Garchomp. Krookodile also allows you to knock off Eviolites as well as being able to taunt walls and leads preventing hazards, recovery and set up which is a very big help on a sandless ground team. It can also run Pursuit to trap certain threats to your team that normally could not be trapped or dealt with very easily.

On Garchomp I recommend dropping the defensive phaser set. Although it is very good on offensive builds such as this one Garchomp can fit other roles better. I would recommend a Substitute SD Salac Berry due to it having a surprise factor on ground teams since most people don't know what regular Garchomp does in ground Monotypes. This also compensates for the lack of speed the team has with a fast late game sweeping option. Other option on Garchomp would be a Life Orb Wallbreaker providing your team with a way to break common cores in Monotype with ease as well as being able to 1 hit KO certain threats. This will also give you back up checks to Charizard-Y (Stone Edge) as well as grass types with Fire Blast. Life Orb Garchomp's power is slightly weaker than Mega Garchomp but still has the 102 speed stat in return.

Slash Choice Scarf on Landorus because Life Orb completely outclasses it in almost every way. besides the surprise factor which is not worth giving up. It's just not a viable enough option to be considered as alternative.

Grass Knot>Hidden Power (Fire). This is mainly for water types that this team struggle with and having a way to hit them hard with your water check is always nice. Also Hidden Power Fire falls short of many KOs and is not worth taking up a moveslot. Also change evs on Seismitoad to 164 Spe, 252 Spa, 92 Hp. This allows you to outspeed jolly Crawdaunt while retaining the maximum amount of physical and special bulk for Seismitoad. This spread is also useful for Belly Drum Azumarill which can be an issue to your team as well. Also slash Sludge Bomb because the poison effect is rarely useful sometimes it can not be because affect to have. Icy Wind as well because of it's lack of usefulness in majority of matchups.
