Sands of Destruction

Anyone played this? It's a JRPG for the DS, made by the same people who worked on Xenogears and Chrono Cross. The plot basically revolves around a girl who wants to destroy the world, her reluctant sidekick (who's the main character in a strange turn of events) and their band of freelancers. The plot is pretty interesting so far. I'm up to the part where you rescue Agan and kill Lupus Rex, and I just chained my attacks, and every battle bar the boss fights are ridiculously easy...

The game has its flaws, but I'm still enjoying it. I've just rescued Agan and beaten Rajiv, but I forgot what to do already.

The battles are really well done. It reminds me a lot of Xenosaga. You can really unearth a lot of depth once you get into it.

Overall, it's a decent game, but nothing too special. I just picked it up because I needed a jrpg fix.

I played and finished it. The boss design for most of the game is actually okay, despite you having ridiculous attack chains. You need to prepare for certain status/strategies beforehand, except the final boss who can arbitrarily kill you with three attacks.

In fact, if you max out your chaining etc., your attacks actually get WORSE, because it gets to the point that you force the Special Attacks, which are actually weaker than one triple-attack chain, and you often lose two or three of those to get the Special attack.

I'm at the part where you gotta get back to lacertus rex after beating the wind elemental and I quite like the game so far, altough its getting quite boring (and kyrie gets imba once he gets his fire alter ego). Random battles have been waaay to easy so far and the only bosses that were bothersome were lupus rex and his son due to chainstunning me, altough once I got 2 shots in they were down, the chaining is just imba and makes the game waaay too easy.

It does however, have this strange charm with the story and its design, so i keep getting back to it every now and then (:
