Okay, this is my first RMT, so BARE WITH ME plzz. I have noticed that one of the simpler ways to battle is to basically pile up residual damage, control the weather and implement threats that can set up and sweep. This team tries to complete each aforementioned task and has been successful over wifi battling. it is a sandstorm team with a couple unique pokemon that benefit surprisingly from SS.
(Sorry guys i do not know how to input the pics of my pokes or else i would, you could explain and i could edit :D)
Tyranitar@leftovers
Queit: 252 HP / 52 Atk / 176 SpA / 28 Spe
substitute
focus punch
dark pulse
ice beam
I have found Smogon's Tyraniboah to be extremely successful as a sandstorm lead. With azelfs and weaviles running around, it handles them nicely while also putting sandstorm in play. As they sr i set up a sub and proceed to use one of my strong attacks. He packs quite a punch (literally) and also pops back in mid-game when i am in need of a special wall to wreak havoc. This is probably my favourite poke right now because he is so versatile.
Metagross@life orb
adamant: 252 attack/252hp
meteor mash
earthquake
thunderpunch
bullet punch
Metagross usually comes in after a poke has been killed or for a gyara counter. He basically just meteor mashes things to death and ko's with bullet punch. He handles the bulky waters that come in and try to stop ttar and gyara's sweep. He is one of my main scouts and generally forces some switches to help pick up residual damage through sr, spikes and sandstorm which all aid in him being to ko with mmash and bulletpunch subsequently
Gyarados@leftovers
adamant: 252 attack/252 speed
dragon dance
taunt
waterfall
stone edge
This is one of my dangerous sweepers. It may seem odd that he is on a sandstorm team, but this is why he holds leftovers, to make up the damage. Gyara comes in to taunt walls and set up, trying to crack the mid game wide open. He is my main infernape counter, who in fact terrifies ttar. Gyara is an all-out attacking machine and dents whatever will switch into it, which hopefully will have taken sr and spike damage after skarmory comes in. Gyara is a serious threat offensively but can also wall sweepers such as breloom and scizor with its typing and intimidate.
skarmory@leftovers
impish: 252 hp/252 defense
stealth rock
spikes
roost
roar
Alright, i needed a physical wall and someone to set up entry hazards. I found all of this in skarmory. I know that it is not recommended for skarm not to have any attacks, but truthfully, he doesn't need them. He simply sr's, spikes and roars, roosting whenever need. If a taunting threat comes in i simply switch to a different poke that will be able to threaten it instead. This is the main reason why this team paccks so much of a punch. Because it will be throwing mostly resisted hits at opponents it needs all the damage help it can get and the entry hasards set up by skarm greatly aid in warding off switched and simply forcing my opponent to take a meteor mash from a max attack metagross or a dd waterfall from gyara or even a fire blast from heatran. As you can see, there are many reasons why skarm does not need any physical attacks.
heatran@choice scarf
modest: 252 sp attck/252 speed
fire blast
earth power
dragon pulse
explosion
Heatran basically comes in whenever scizor, metagross or skarmory fear a fire attack for the flash fire boost. I rarely do fire blast after however and usually go with the safer dragon pulse with is surprisingly not expected. heatran is a great revenge killer and can force switches or make opponents take a fire blast. Again, the all out power of modest heatran's stabbed fire blast cannot be ignored. Heatran serves as a check for lucario's and scizors trying to set up too early as their boosted priority attacks do pitiful damage and he can threaten back with fire blast. Explosion is there to take out special walls although it is kind of a wasted moveslot. Any suggestions on what to play instead?
scizor@life orb
adamant: 252 attck/252 speed
swords dance
bullet punch
u-turn
superpower
Scizor is my early game scout popping in and out forcing damage help through u-turn adding to the deadly damage build up. He is also my end game sweeper. Scizor is a great poke that resists and can take many attacks and beats other threatening lucario trying to set up with superpower. He is my Latias counter who otherwise tears this team to pieces after heatran is gone.
The reason I chose a sandstorm type team is because i was sick of pokes recovering significant amounts of damage through leftovers. The damage dealt through the powerful attacks from tyranitar, metagross, gyrados, heatran and scizor leave marks on the opponents team that stick with lefty's gain.
This bulky yet powerful team has served me well but it still needs improvement. thank you for your help, it is appreciated
