Hi guys, I would like you to rate my current team. I last played when Lando-I was still OU and I just recently played pokemon again so I wanted to update my team. It's technically a weatherless team with Tyranitar, Garchomp and Scizor, three of my most favorite pokemon to use in OU with a Voltturn defensive core. The sets are all based on the writeups on Smogon with some tweaks. I hope you like it!
バンギラス @ Choice Band
Sand Stream
252 Atk / 180 SDef / 76 Spd
Adamant
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
As I said above, this monster is one of my most favorite pokemon to use and also summons a sandstorm, my most favorite weather to play in. With CB, this guy blasts holes into the opponents' teams. And I mean BIG holes. Constant Voltturns would give this pokemon many chances to shine and rip heads off so it's no problem switching in and out. I put all of the HP EVs into SDef instead because I find myself switching into mostly special attacks and retaliating back with truckloads of pain. He's also my trapper for Celebi, Starmie, and the Lati twins so the extra SDef helps in sponging their super effective water and grass attacks. The sandstorm is actually a bonus for me since it helps in disrupting weathers and in dealing residual damage so that my opponent doesn't get the upper hand most of the time. Most of my pokemon are immune to the damage it brings so it's okay to let out even at the start of the match when I lead with this guy.
スターミー @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
252 SAtk / 40 SDef / 216 Spd
Timid
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
Here is my spinner for the team and one of my 2 special attackers along with Rotom-W, with very redundant coverage but I feel it is needed to check my other pokemon's counters and for checking rain threats. Boltbeam helps in dealing with many targets like dragons and flying pokemon that my other pokemon could not handle. Starmie also acts as my secondary sweeper in case something bad happens to Scizor, especially under rain when TTar is also out. I tampered with its Speed EVs and made it so that it outspeeds max Speed boosted base 111 pokemon, though I will tinker with it again so that it outspeeds base 110 since Lando-I is already Uber and Torna-I is for Rotom-W to handle.
ランドロス @ Leftovers
Intimidate
240 HP / 176 Def / 92 Spd
Naive
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
This Landorus-T is my offensive physical tank and part of my Voltturn defensive core. Nothing much to say here because the set is very standard. EQuake is used for Steel types, and HP Ice for other Landorus-T, Atk based dragons and Gliscor.
ロトム @ Leftovers
Levitate
248 HP / 24 SAtk / 232 SDef / 4 Spd
Calm
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
This washing machine is part of the Voltturn defensive core and is one of my special tanks aside from TTar. Will-o-Wisp is a very important move here because, as you can see, Lando-T isn't really supposed to tank all the physical attacks by himself; it helps in mitigating physical damage for the whole team and in dealing damage. Both Lando-T and Rotom-W are also flying/levitating so I use them to avoid EQuakes and whatnot.
ハッサム @ Flying Gem
Technician
252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Acrobatics
- Superpower
Now this PEST here is the main sweeper and revenge killer for the team. Most people think that all Scizors are banded, when they're really not. With 1 SD boost, he becomes one of the best damage dealers in OU and a very dangerous sweeper. SD+FlyingGem boosted Acrobatics is used to break any non-steel check who comes to switch in even without hazards or sandstorm. Revenge killing is also possible even without boosts as long as Bullet Punch is enough to kill, making the opponent think it's banded, and then I would SD or outright OHKO with Acrobatics/Superpower when he sends in a wrong check. Superpower is still needed for coverage in case Defensive Heatrans show up, even though it gives a -1 boost.
ガブリアス @ Focus Sash
Rough Skin
252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Naive
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
And lastly, we have Focus Sash lead Garchomp. He's what I lead with at those times that I'm not sure what my opponent would lead with. To be honest, I just slapped him in the team to fill the void of the 6th pokemon since I really do not know who to put here and I just wanted to use him for the lulz. He does get SR up most of the time and acts as my sun weather counter but that's about it.
Some notes:
Tyranitar: I find myself using Crunch more than Stone Edge since I hate the SE's accuracy. In fact, I'm thinking of changing SE into Fire Punch or Aqua Tail because I rarely find myself needing to use SE in many of my matches. Also, if I'm removing SE, I might also change CB into Expert Belt since it would increase his super effective coverage by a lot (I think).
Starmie: Leftovers with Natural Cure or Life Orb with Analytic? I like that my Starmie lasts for quite a while during a fight, but I feel it needs more power to sweep better because it's too balanced. Should I add more damage or should I make it defensive instead?
Lando-T: I'm not sure if I want another SR user so I'm thinking of scrapping it and putting Gravity or Trick Room just to surprise my opponent, maybe put on a Scarf or something.
Garchomp: It's not that I want him scrapped or anything since I also like this pokemon but I feel he is really out of place in this team so I am opting to change him or at least his set. I may change his set into a supportive one, if needed.
