Hello Smogon! This is my first ever sandstorm team and I hope you like it! I saw that sandstorm was a really good strategy and wanted to try it out! I tried my best at this team but not sure if its good at all and that's why I came here to get some feedback.
Team at a Glance:
In- Depth Description:
Tyranitar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SDef
Sassy Nature
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
- Crunch
In the sand and with an assault vest, Tyranitar is a great special wall. I put max Special defence investment with a plus nature. He helps the team out by trapping and killing psychic and ghost pokes. With the amount of attack investments I gave this, stone edge and crunch will put a dent in everything that doesn't resist it. EQ for coverage.
Garchomp-Mega @ Garchompite
Ability: Sand Force
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 56 SAtk
Brave Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Blast
- Iron Head
This guy is a monster in the sand. With sand force, in the sand he basically has a life orb without recoil with his already sky-high base attack stat of 170. I made him more of a bulky attacker with a brave nature. The reason he isn't adamant and the special attack EVS is so I can do some damage with fire blast. He can also take some hits with its respectable defenses. EQ and Dragon claw are main STABs. Iron head is to hit fairies that threaten Garchomp and try to force him out of the sandstorm.
Alakazam @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Focus Blast
Alakazam is a great special sweeper and has always been one of my favorite Pokemon. With a great movepool and great Sp. attack and Speed stats he can hit almost anything hard as psychic hits anything that doesn't resist it pretty hard. The EVs and nature are both pretty obvious. With magic guard he is a good sponge of toxics and burns. Also he doesn't get hurt by sandstorn which is a nice added bonus.
Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Download
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- U-turn
This guy is an amazing revenge killer with a choice scarf and I wanted to try him out as I saw that he was being suspected. Flamethrower, thunderbolt, and ice beam are all great coverage moves. U-Turn usually kills while Genesect is revenge killing and either gives Tyranitar another chance to set up sand or if the opponent switches to avoid dying, I get great switch initiative. EVs and nature are pretty self- explanatory as a revenge killer.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
This was my starter of gen 6 and I really liked him. With his protean ability he is a great special attacker who gets STAB on all of his moves. The moves I gave him get really good coverage while sweeping. I put life orb so he didn't get locked into attacks while making his attacks stronger at the same time. These EVs are obvious for any Greninja to capitalize on his high speed stat and to hit harder with his attacks.
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spd
Impish Nature
- Brave Bird
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind
- Roost
Skarmory is a great physical wall. I had always thought Skarmory was a bad Pokémon until I had actually used it. It tanks so many hits and can also stop sweeps because he can usually tank the hit and force out the set up pokemon with whirlwind. This is also my main stealth rock setter upper as he can wall a lot of things and on the switch go for the stealth rocks. Roost is there for constant recovery and Brave birn as a main STAB and to make sure Skarmory isn't completely destroyed by taunt users.
