Sandstorm Team [RMT] - Desert Destruction

Desert Destruction

Hello Everyone. I'm new to Smogon and this is my first time posting so all help is and will be appreciated. If you see anything that is breaking the rules please tell me so i don't make the mistake again. Me and my friends decided that we should try and make some teams and give competitive battle a try. We read some articles on team building and I decided to go with sandstorm. When we all finished we battled each other so I have tried the team out. I did win most of the time so I thought it would be good to get the team rated. Thx in advanced.

Team building Process

I started out wanting to use sandstorm so I looked at both Hippowdon and Tyranitar. I liked both and tried them out. In the end I chose TTar because of his power. I made him a lead to set up sandstorm and Stealth rock as soon as possible.

Next I wanted to counter some of TTar's weaknesses while still able to take Sandstorm damage. Breloom came to mind as it can steal heal itself with toxic orb and counters steal, water and ground types.

While putting Brellom in helped TTar it also meant I had a lot of weaknesses to other types. By putting scizor in I was able to counter this.

Next I thought about the type of Attacks Scizor doesn't like, such as Fire. I decided to put Heatran in to compensate for this.

Next I realised that I had two pokemon weak to water. I know I had brelom but it felt safer to put in somthing else to take water attacks. So I put in Swampert. Please tell me if this was stupid.

I was stuck for awhile on the last pokemon. I looked around smogon for something that I liked and I found Jirachi. He brings wish support and he could also take a few hits after using calm mind a few times.

Team complete. Changes have been made to TTar and swampert. Swampert has become the lead and TTar is now a Dragon Dancer.

In Depth Look
swampert.png

Swampert Lead @ leftovers
Ability: Torrent
Evs: 252Hp / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Nature: Relaxed
- Stealth Rock
- Avalanch
- Earthquake
- Roar

Used to get Stealth Rock going. Will probaly switch to TTar after stealth Rock to get Sandstorm started. I have relised that this set is better then the cursepert set. It can be used latter in the game to take physical hits instead of dying after it sets up rocks. A lead I will have trouble with will be rosrade as its leaf storm will most lickley kill it. Roar can switch anything thats trying to set up.

breloom.png

Brellom Spore Puncher @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison heal
Evs: 12Hp / 252 Atk / 244 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- Seed Bomb
- Spore
- Substitute/Stone Edge
- Focus Punch

Brelom is here to counter water, ground and steal types. Hiding behind substitute and healing with poison heal. Evs for max damage. Always beats my friends Abomasnow in a substitute battle. Spore is an awsome move and Breloom only needs to come in somthing slowere then it without priority to wreck havoc. Not sure if I should use substitute or stone egde because substite means breloom can stay in for longer. But stone edge counters flying types witch breloom is very weak to.

scizor.png

Scizor Choice Band @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
Evs: 248 Hp / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- Bullet Punch
- U-Turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit

Scizor is an awsome revenge killer. Its able to scout the opponent’s team with U-turn and trap ghost types for the KO with pursuit. Amost never been KO'ed by my friends. One thing I don't like about the Choice band set is that once I'm locked into a move they can send in a counter. I'm especially scared of Magnazone. All the same, love Scizor.

heatran.png

Heatran Choice Scarf @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
Evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature: Naive
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power
- Explosion
- Dragon Pulse

Works hand in hand with Scizor to revenge kill. I chose Flamethrower over Fire Blast for more reliability. I especially love being able to explode on somthing that threatens my team. Being faster then any other pokemon without a choice scarf [exept ninjask] means I can revenge kill most pokes. Same with Scizor, almost never KO'ed. If you think I should use Fire blast over Flamethrower please tell me.

tyranitar.png

TTar Dragon Dance @ Babiri Berry
Ability Sandstream
Evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake/Fire Punch/Aqua Tail
- Crunch
- Stone Edge

With Dragon Dance TTar becomes an absolute beast. Jolly is chosen so that I can outrun more threts and after dragon dance it will have enough attack anyway. Im still not sure of the last slot because fire punch helps againts scizor, foretress and lucario. But Aqua tail deals with hippowdon, gliscor and heatran. And then there is Earthquake that hits infernape, and other tyranitar. It also can't miss. Which move should I chose.
jirachi.png

Jirachi Wish + Calm Mind @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Evs: 252 Hp / 220 Def / 36 Spe
Nature: Bold
- Calm Mind
- Wish
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic

I chose Jirachi for wish support witch really helps the team. Also being able to heal itself with wish is very helpful. After Calm Minding a few times Jirachi can take some hits and also deal some damage as well. I'm pretty sure Psychic is a better choice than Flash Cannon but please correct me if I'm wrong.

If I havn't put in enough detail just tell me and I will try to add some more.

Thx for reading.

Hi, nice sandstorm team you got there, but the descriptions are lacking, put some words together or a mod would lock the thread.

First off, remove Stealth Rock from Tyranitar and replace it with Rest, or if you want, get a DDtar with this moveset:

Tyranitar @ Babiri Berry
Jolly
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
~ Dragon Dance
~ Crunch
~ Earthquake
~ Stone Edge

But don't lead with it, i say lead with Swampert and use this moveset:

Swampert @ Leftovers
Relaxed
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
~ Stealth Rock
~ Avalanche / Waterfall (Avalanche recommended)
~ Earthquake
~ Protect

This works better as a lead, if you want sandstorm, then just switch to Tyranitar or something.

And Breloom is waaaay too much predictable by the way, plus one Flying hit and it gone, with its glass-like defences and low speed, people will just switch to the right counter and just OHKO it or revenge-kill it.

But if your keeping it, you need Stone Edge.

Team looks good, I'll just make some minor changes for now.

Your team has a major Starmie weakness - Heatran, Breloom, Scizor and Tyranitar without a DD are outsped and OHKOd. I suggest putting Quick Attack on Scizor - it does min 99.6% (I'll just say it's a KO). It can also do major damage to Jolteon and other Pokemon who resist Bullet Punch.

I'd put Fire Punch on TTar, because Scizor can't KO and you kill it without having to switch out and lose your boosts. Breloom is also fukked.

If I have any more time, I'll come back and make some more changes.
Good luck!

Very nice team, I can make you such a team in my save and lend it to you, wanna go for a match? PM me.I'll give you my thoughts tomorrow, Right now, I gotta do my Homework.
